I just saw his filmography, can this guy do action?

If he can't then lets hope they hire a bloody fantastic 2nd unit director who can handle action.

Well, remember, he has years and years of music video experience behind him. So like Mr.Green said, that makes him kind of naturally kinetic at this point (as music videos are almost entirely visual and can't rely on dialogue to tell their "story"). I mean, even the music-video-directors-turned-film-directors who make crappy movies (McG, Michael Bay) still seem to handle action alright - it's just these little things called "story" and "heart" that they can't seem to grasp. But so far, based on his first feature film, Webb doesn't seem to have that problem, either.

No one knows because we haven't seen anything yet. 500 Days of Summer was a nice little movie but it didn't sell me on the dude. I was a bit surprised when I heard that the director of that was doing Spider-Man.

He NEEDS to be able to make extraordinary action scenes. The action scenes were one of the main selling points of the original trilogy.

I don't know. But apparently he can do light hearted romance, and somehow that lands him at the helm of one of Hollywood's all time biggest cash cows.

We'll find out whether or not. Personally, I'm not a big fan of how any director directs action sequences in movies right now. Too much shaky cam and not enough of seeing the action. If someone throws a punch, I wanna see it, and this is something that even the best directors usually don't do in today's world of movies. Christopher Nolan is a good example. The Dark Knight and Batman Begins are two of my favorite movies of all-time, but if I watch them, dissecting them as a director myself, then I will be frustrated with the action sequences. As someone else said, Webb's extensive music video experience leads me to believe he'll be all right doing the action, but I do think it is still too close to call seeing as how (500) Days of Summer is so laid back and Spider-man's, well, not.

I'm afraid they'll go twilight on the Spidey franchise. Light action, heavy romance.

We'll have people fighting over Eugene Thompson or Peter Parker...And lots of taking off shirts.

say what you want about raimi, the action in the spidey movies KICKED ASS!! the train sequence even six years later hasn't been topped and I saw the thing LAST WEEK.

Totally agree. BB was terrible in that aspect, while TDK had some, but nowhere near the extent that BB had.

All the action in Spidey 2 was amazing. I'll miss Raimi :csad: Damn you Marvel and your control issues (Iron man 2 says hi too).

Sam Raimi is awesome and the sole reason for this Superhero movie craze.

With the budget of this movie there probably will not be that much action for anyone to notice that there is action

If you wanna call it action. lol:oldrazz:

it was spider-man.
x-men showed hollywood it was safe to make superhero movies again (blade doesn't count as the general audience had no clue he was a comic character) but spider-man showed hollywood you can make a FORTUNE making a superhero movie and thus all the studios wanting to get on the bandwagon.

saying x-men is responsible for the superhero revival is like saying aliens v monsters is responsible for the 3D boom, sure it was made before avatar but avatar showed hollywood there is money to be made.

you don't need a massive budget for kick ass action

A white box. That's really action-packed, yes!

But here is your link for all to see.

Yeah, sure. So here is the link for that 500 Days of Summer scene.

For every video you want to embed, remove all of the stuff up to the equal sign so only the video code is left. The link would look like this, but in between the YT brackets: 2seAJsrtIbQ

I hope he doesn't go the twilight route. Not cool in Spidey's Universe

It came up when I clicked preview post last night though :csad:

I really wish people would quit saying that. But I have a feeling it's the new "Green Goblin looks like a power ranger!!11!!!" :whatever:
