Without being similar to Terminator Salvation, a human with cyborg body ? I'm curious if anyone thinks Metallo could work on the big screen...

Sure, I think he would make a good minion. Someone like Lex can drive the plot, but doesn't pose a physical challenge to Superman, there is where someone like Metallo can step in.

Yer gonna go with a Terminator Salvation reference, not just Terminator?

As a secondary villain sure, but not the main one.

Well, Terminator 1 & 2 - Arnold wasn't a half human / half robot like Metallo. He was a pure robot. In Terminator Salvation, Sam Worthington character had the brain / memories of a human but a robot body - just like Metallo.

Just go with that new Metallo 0 suit he's wearing.

I'm sure he can work, it's all a matter of how his character is written & executed on the big screen. Costume & character design is all important to, in my opinion.

I'll go one step further and throw in a T:SCC reference by saying that Brian Austin Green played Dereck Reese and Metallo in Smallville. I'd love to see Metallo in a Superman film.

I personally dont want to see Metallo in a sequel, but they can probably make it work. I have a feeling their design will be too much like something from Terminator though. They should focus on some other villains first, then they can think about throwing him in a movie. I'd sit him out til a few sequels pass. They'd probably end up rebooting once more when that time comes..and we'd all see the great villains translated on screen already. Modernized for this generation. Then it would be time to throw in some Metallo me thinks.

I totally think that he could work as a villain. Probably even as the main villain. The execution of putting this character into the movie, wouldn't be hard either. Just think of all the movie effects that can be accomplished with CG in this modern day of eye trickery. I like the previous Superman movies, but who out there agrees with me, that the writers have gone to the Lex Luthor well way too many times?? Nothing against Lex, but it would be GREAT to see a fresh villain thrown in the mix.

Metallo is too lame to be a live action villain IMO.

And the Kryptonite plot devices have been used to death.

I'd rather the MoS trilogy stick with the Kryptonian villains.

How about Lobo as Superman's next movie villain? Kind of like that idea.
I still have to disagree with you regarding Metallo, but I guess we just have to agree to disagree about that character.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind he would work as a villain onscreen. I'll even go one step farther and argue that he does not require the use of a primary villain to be effective.

The trick is how you have John Corben/Metallo and Superman play off one another. If you develop *write* the dynamic between the characters intelligently, then it makes for a very powerful, emotional, and heartbreaking story.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that the fighting sequences would pack as much potential heavyweight action as a Zod/Superman slugfest can feature, but very close, where the difference is negligible. The biggest difference of course, is that Metallo cannot fly, nor is he a military strategist. Still, a very nice villian for Superman to confront nonetheless.

Metallo works well, with his Kryptonite centrism, and being such a base criminal, and a con man at that, he contrasts well with Superman. I don't think he carries a movie well, unless he becomes a lot more like Lex Luthor as far as scheming and suaveness and such, but being someone Superman couldn't save that Luthor could is a pretty cool angle for him.

Get rid of his magic "technology absorption powers" make him more like a modern day cyborg, looking like a terminator with some added coolness. Having him uplink to tech could be cool, but I really don't need to see someone 'absorbing' a 747, whatever that means.

John Corben can be an ex-military soldier, now mercenary in the employ of Luthor (or a secret Blackwater-type subsidiary), initially using an exosuit built by LuthorCorp industries. After (unsuccessful) battle with Superman, Corben is inadvertently maimed.. he of course blames Superman, and mysterious scientists in the employ of Luthor promises revenge via "bio-cyber-enhancement", which of course, involves a green kryptonite stone replacing his heart.. other enhancements can include use of multiple kinds of kryptonite..

I think Metallo and Luthor in a MOS sequel would be killer awesome !

Of course Metallo could work in live action! This could be a medium where he thrives!
