Remember when I told you not to think, or you'd hurt yourself? So reporting what I thought was a death threat was a point-earning offense?

It's not like these points are probation or a ban, they are just one point. Be good for a while and it goes away. It takes THREE points to even get ONE day of probation. Yes, they are being slapped on minor things, but that's what they are there for. Something to use when it's not a probation-worthy offense. Just a; "Oi! Cut it out!"
) but if the guy honestly received a death threat then I shudder to think that he would be punished for turning to our moderator staff for help over it. It's like the Hype! condones death threats, now, but won't tolerate people like Fried Gold making self-deprecating jokes. Seems like an awful lot of mixed signals being sent and no real sense of order about how this new system should be used by the moderators. That's all I'm saying. farmerfran But aren't we supposed to report offensive posts (ones that cross the line, etc.) if we feel to do so? I mean, don't they take like 20 seconds to investigate?
'Trolling', apparently.
Yeah, I've formally requested that it be rescinded.
Yes, but it also makes it easier to just punish people for things without having to really understand whether what they did was wrong or not. It allows for lazy moderating practices and there's now a whole rash of people cropping up who've been given infractions for things they've done in the past, prior to the system being put in place, without even a warning or for things that weren't even really wrong at all. This indicates that either the rules of what is acceptable here have changed without any communication of said changes to the people who post here or moderators are applying even more of their bias than before around what THEY think is or isn't acceptable or if they have issues with a certain poster. I mean, hey...we all know Lucas is a jackass (but he's OUR jackass, dammit!) but if the guy honestly received a death threat then I shudder to think that he would be punished for turning to our moderator staff for help over it. It's not the first time I got a report from you and nothing concret was really worth a alert
Took me longer because the report you sent was the wrong post, and I wasn't the only mod confused from that alert. I thought you were pissed of that harmless gif posted but when you claimed that 'death threat' and I checked it wasn't a death threat at all. If YOU took 20 seconds to re-read her post you would know a alert wasn't merit
Not going to happen, I seen others post of yours I deleted because all you did was complain about the thread in question. Last one was to carp about a thread that was 'dumb'
Well, let me ask you this, then. If you guys won't take any of the posters seriously, how can you expect any of them to take you seriously? I know you're just trying to be funny and all, but it sort of underscores a keystone of the problems you guys are encountering as mods. *kershrug*

If the death threat was legit I would had deal with the poster who made it BUT that wasn't what he was reporting the complaint about. I was(and another mod) totally confused when I hit the link and the post he complained adout was a harmless gif, no threats in it. Hell it was cute fuzzy something in it, hardly threaten. When he mention the death threat, I went back and re-read several pages and saw no death threat at all. Also it's not his first time he made a report about a complaint that turns out totally bogus
Yeah, well whip him till he bleeds, then! Otherwise the damn dog won't lurrrrn nuthin'!!!!!

Well the point system is also up to each individual Mod. If you posted porn ANY red-name would ban your face off. These lighter "crimes" are a lot different. Like Morg, he gave fran a point for his report cause he looked into it and it seemed fran was screwin' around and wasting time, crying wolf. I looked at the post he reported and it wasn't really a death threat, she said something like she wouldn't care if he died. The rules haven't changed, if you act up, you get in trouble. How much trouble is up to the Mod that crosses your path. That's why I joked, because where can this debate go? One man's joke is another man's insult. *shrizzugle*

) and just insults/offends everyone. And when we try to call her out, she just gets worse. I've lightened up on her, and I've called her out on things when it was needed, and she just ignores it and moves on, like she's 100% correct everytime.Well, honestly, I'm surprised that she hasn't been banned yet. I mean, as soon as she comes into a thread, she just gets all uppity (yeah, I said uppity) and just insults/offends everyone. And when we try to call her out, she just gets worse. I've lightened up on her, and I've called her out on things when it was needed, and she just ignores it and moves on, like she's 100% correct everytime.
This illustrates another root of the problem, though; inconsistency in moderating where one moderator will allow something but another will punish people for the same thing. It was a complaint long before the point system came into existence and the point system has only accentuated the problem from what I'm observing.
And, fran...reporting a death threat from The Female Torch?
