Okay so sorry to have to do a complete new thread for this but I'm sure there are people who feel the same way as me.
I would really have to seriously question the sanity and intelligence of the writers if they decide to do the whole origin story again.
I remember it so clearly the first time I saw the first Spider-Man, I remember loving it, thinking it was great and I was only 8 years old.
I somehow think that kids will have watched the first Spider-Man film. I love the first Superman and that came out about 14 years before I was born.
Don't give me that crap about a new generation will now know the origin.
Everyone who I know is aware of the origin and a good amount of people in the world know the main characters and generally what happens. We don't need to be re-told and re-told everything that happens to Peter when he gets bit by a spider.
First we were told that the films would be set in school even for the sequels as well, I was cool with that, those scenes were completely rushed in Raimi's.
But when they cast the now 27 year old Garfield I definitely thought it was a logical choice to put him in college. Now I hear they will put him in school. I bet you he will graduate during the movie just because of Garfield's age.
How many times? Either set it in high school for the entire movie or in college the entire movie, unless they really do want to do a complete re-hash of the 1st film.
Can we just jump straight into the action, assuming people know the general story, have him in college and have occasional flashbacks to the past?
Which is basically what the 90's animated series did and look how great that was.
I had a lot of hope for this film at first. Once I heard it was Garfield I assumed they would do the films in college and I also thought they would have 2 love interests, with MJ playing a minor part.
Now I hear MJ has been completely cut so it pretty much sounds like the 1st Spider-Man with that one girl he pines and longs after.
So much for making it different.
The Lizard is a good choice for a villain (I'm a little pissed off that they didn't just put him in the now cancelled SM4, but hey, what do they say about crying over spilt milk?) but I don't know if he can carry an entire movie himself.
There's not enough threat there because you know he's really just Doc Connors who just got caught up in a horrible experiment.
We need a good and significant villain, or just one alongside Connors who is more of a bad guy himself but is more of a supporting villain.
Someone like Electro would be perfect.
I'm excited for this reboot, don't get me wrong, why do you think I'd be on here if I wasn't?
But some of the choices they're making sound awfully familiar to a certain Raimi franchise I know.
