Can you define what would make you feel "safe" on a large scale?

They just need to put some Teamocil in the water supply.

the whole draft for president thing is ******ed...I dont want some guy who got lucky and invented Velcro and is now a bajillionare to be president, because chances are he neither knows nor cares about world politics...thats really one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard

I personally think that's brilliant. Take a guy who, at one time, didn't have money...experience what it was like to be lower-middle class to lower class and put him in the presidency... PURE BRILLIANCE. This guy would be all for the people. I can't stand the "bred for president" rich kids we always get..they know nothing of real life and have no compassion. They might as well be robots.

I feel safe now

the term is completely relative, feeling safe doesn't make one less likely to have someone come into your house and kill everyone you love infront of your eyes...

Money and every other materialistic objects along with my castrated army of male concubines.:cmad:  :meow:

 How can they be castrated and still be concubines???

The first step to making me feel more confident in the future of the world is Government. I believe all levels of government should be held accountable for the promises they make when they attempt to get elected. If you are elected and have made 100 promises when you ran for office, then each year in office you should lose 10% of your salary for each unkept (I don't say broken because they may keep it the following year) promise and gain a 1% increase in salary for each kept promise. Then the bloody politicians would stop making promises they know they can't keep. Once that happens we might see actual improvements.

My own personal army of Ewoks.

So much for a serious thread based in part on a convo on another thread involving "feeling safe in our society.

Thank you for your input,... Where R you going to find "real" ewoks?

Ah a mostly serious response.

"Velcro?"

Not talking about luck. We have over two hundred guys in this country who are regularly "hired" by those lucky guys who stumbled across velcro and effectivily run multi-national, billionaire profit companies for too much money per year.

Interesting.

Of course I'll have to google to see which International laws were broken,... and how they tie in with the laws of our land,.. and decide for myself whether his actions have done more good than the complaints of others with no viable solutions.

And NO,.. I'm not Pro Bush,.. I'm just not into "lemming" behavior.

?
Caught this on the second read thru.

Questio isn't if it is real or not. Question is what would make YOU feel safe?:word:

There's only one thing that would make me feel safe: If everyone on the planet were to simultaneously stop being stupid, callous, selfish and warlike.

A cloned army of chuck norris's. My generals would be MR T, Jack Bauer, John Mclean, Snake plisken. My personal body guards are Terminator T-1000 and Rambo. That should about do it. oh and I live in a floating fortress 2 miles up in the sky.

That's a Spin,.. Go back to putting a "Everyman" into office,.. the original premise behind the presidency.

Nah,... Too many can't stomach the concept.

But I personally like that idea too,.. esp if the guy/gal is smart and doesn't play games.

I understand how you may "feel" safe.

And of Course it's relative,.. otherwise there wouldn't be more than one answer.

But step outside the "now" for the moment. What things will "keep you safe" or make you feel "safer" for your entire life.

You must not mean "total" castration,.. otherwise they wouldn't be concubines.

This I appreciate,... Props.

Uh, f*** "international law".
It's a violation of the rules of sanity to invade a country, overthrow it's government and kill 100's of thousands of it's innocent citizens when THAT COUNTRY DIDN'T DO ONE SINGLE THING TO YOUR COUNTRY.

I don't see why my safety requirements would change with age.

surely what counts for me now, will count for me in the future

Oh well.

So what level of "comfort" below "safe" R U operating under?

*grin*
(My first one of the day)

Are you seriously trying to tie sanity with politics?

Okay,.. I'll play.

We need to draw a line somewhere,... I admit not having enough information to draw that line and will add that I am too harsh for the current world view.

(Dafur woulda stopped on my watch,.. Saddam would've been out of power more than ten years ago when he invaded another country, I'da locked down our border on all four sides and the heck with "feel good" activities.)

This country did "nothing" to us?

I thought the country invaded an ally of ours who we recieved oil from.
I thought the country had been PROVEN to support terrorists (thru funding )who HAVE killed Americans.
I thought it has been Proven that that country WAS A HAVEN AND SAFEHOUSE for terrorists that make it no secret that they want to kill Americans.

Which of those three are untrue and at least tell mer where I can link to the truth?

Really?

When I was a small child,.. I felt safe in the arms of my mother,...

When I was a boy,.. I felt safe after my father returned from vietNam,.. He appeared to me to be more of a force of nature that was on my side.

When I was a young Man,.. I felt safe in The Coast Guard because as a force for good I had a government enity behind my actions and we were doing stuff I could get behind 100%.

Now I'm older and wiser and what I posted in the first post would give me the the same level of "feeling safe" that I had as a small child.

You say that your "level" of feeling safe is "unchanging".

Interesting.
