This was actually a topic on a radio talkshow this morning as I was driving to work, as it appears to have quite the social stigma I was not aware of. I have friends and associates I hit movies with occasionally, but usually if it's some goofy ass flick that they want to see. If it's something along the lines of a Pan's Labyrinth, that I will go on my own and see, as being with somebody at the movies automatically means you have to divert your attention at intervals to them for some reason, either to talk, answer questions, etc. If it's something I want to see, more than likely I'll go on my own and check it out, unless another geek fan that knows the rules manages to roll with me.

I'm pretty sure all of us can go to the movies by ourself.

If I don't bring friends or family along, my brother always goes with me. So I pretty much never go alone.

I go alone probably once a month, and I see films with other people(my girlfriend, and my friends) Probably 3 or 4 times a month.

I saw Daredevil by myself. I think that's the only movie I've seen by myself.

I've never seen a film by myself. The thought of queuing alone sounds boring

I've gone a couple times by myself. Once for the last two Star Wars films, mostly cuz my friends had already seen them and didn't want to see them multiple times like I did... I also went to Click by myself because I was bored and wanted something to do before work. I actually don't mind seeing them by myself but it is a big deal to a lot of people I know. I prefer matinees though so that the theatre isn't busy and I don't have to worry about my seat getting taken if I go to the bathroom during the commercials at the start or whatever.

I like going to the cinema with my friends and family. However, if its some small independent/foreign film then I prefer to go by myself.

I go to the movies by myself all the time. I find it much more enjoyable. If I do go with someone, I'll go with my brother. I've only seen a few films with my friends.

As soon as I get out the movie, I need to talk about it with someone, which is why I would need company

I go to the movies just about all the time.

I only once and awhile go with a family member or something.

Last movie i saw with someone was Star wars Ep3 with my little brother cause he wanted to see it. And i might take him to see SM3.

I've only done it once and although I enjoyed the movie (X-Men), it's not as good as watching it with a family member or friend. For some reason, I enjoy the company when I go to the movies. I'll even take my nephew to the movies once in awhile. I feel it as awkward going to the theatres by yourself. But that's just me.

If I didn't I'd miss out on a lot of movies. That has been the case before and I've decided to not allow such. I think the last movie somebody went with me was when I went to see Snakes On A Plane for the second time.

I agree that having someone with you can at times be a distraction.

I always go to the theatre alone, though, not by choice. :csad:

Depends... Like I went to see Dreamgirls alone, I mean who am I going convince to go see that with me, everyone in college seems to hate musicals. I saw Ghost Rider alone as well only because I knew if I didn't see it that night, I'd never see it, and I had to the geek in me was calling out to see it, too bad that sucked :( But most of the time I go the movies with someone... But like other said if there's a movie I want see and no one wants to go, for some reason, then I'll go by myself, which isn't very often, thankfully. I concur, it's nicer seeing a movie with someone.

I Never go alone..

to me going to the movies is an event... i rarely go to the show as it is...i'm a real life pirate i dont believe in givin money to the "man"...if i wana see a movie by myself i wait for it on DVD and watch it in MY theatre... this year is the first year in a long time that i had and am going to have multiple theatre trips(lots of good movies)... but yeah... i never go by myself

i've never been to the movies alone, but i have seen movies by myself at my own house :p

Lately I've gotten into the habits of going to the movies on my own, preferably for films that deserve to be seen on a big screen like 300.

Sure, just went to a movie by myself. No biggie, I do go with friends now and then but today just wanted see 300 while I got the time

Went to see Flags of Our Fathers and 300 by myself. No biggie. Use to NEVER do that, but now its becomming a trend. Funny, even though I got a g/f.

sometimes the idea of going alone makes me feel self-conscious.:csad:

I'd rather not go alone because I like to discuss the film afterwards.

I went alone once. The people next to me seemed to be very upset with my stupid comments. :( I missed my friends that day.
