1600 Penn was okay. I don't think it's going to last though.

I enjoy Bill Pullman and its cool to see him back to being the President lol

TOTALLY agree on Josh Gad!

It's painful to watch him on 1600 Penn; his face, voice, mannerisms, stupidity etc makes for one of the WORST characters I've ever had the displeasure of witnessing!

Terrible show. Especially since it's a concept that could work quite well.

Josh Gad is the unfunniest person I have ever seen on screen.

Just seeing him and the character in the commercials is the reason I've been so hesitant in trying out the show.

NCIS has gotten to the point where I think every episode feels the same.
I have felt that way for a loooong time. I don't get upset if I miss an episode. Meh.

Still lovin' Criminal Minds though.

I hope AMC and OLTL will get off the ground. I was getting into OLTL and then it was cancelled. I would be willing to give a chance online.
They better get back Todd, Starr, and John from General Hospital. That's all I'll say. I HATE the crossover.

Not trying to be rude so please dont take this the wrong way, but do you people genuinely enjoy Soaps and think that they are good quality shows? Or do you watch them ironically?

^^ I grew up watching them (the ABC soaps). My mom watched them. I just grew attached to certain characters, but there have been times when I've tuned out for long periods of time because there are no, and I mean NO, genuinely good soap writers in this day and age. The heyday of soaps was the 80's and 90's.

No offense taken.

I get my entertainment from a variety of shows, films, books, and comics. :D I'm all over the place.

There is a circle of hell where you are forced to watch soap operas for eternity and you cant blink. There is nothing ironic about Soaps. Awful evil things.

Guys, I must ask you to stop talking about soaps in here. ETM can sense that sort of thing. :o

LOL!!

It's pretty much just out of it habit, for me. But I don't watch consistently.

I like everyone on the show but him. The interaction between Jenna Elfman and the other kids is probably the funniest part of the whole show so far. Plus, I like Bill Pullman's portrayal of a straight-faced president involved in comedic situations.

Gad's first appearance on The Daily Show was brutal and essentially all of them were unfunny, maybe one was amusing and it was basically making fun of himself. He didn't last long there.

He saved his career in Book of Mormon but for how long?

Comics are basically soaps with superheroes too. :o

The problem with 1600 Penn that it was by far the worse show of Thursday Night. And with the Office not being what it used to be (and with an awkward episode to boot) that's saying something.

It will probably remain on Thursdays filling the 30 Rock Timeslot when 30 Rock ends in a few weeks.

However, with 1600 Penn, The New Normal, Go On, Guys with Kids and Whitney, I think we are seeing the end of an era. The Office and 30 Rock are gone soon and there's no guarantee (sadly) that Parks and Recreation will be back next season.

Community is taking over 30 Rock's time slot, 1600 Penn will probably ride out the season airing after The Office.

The new NBC execs have admitted they're moving to more broad comedies in hopes for better ratings.

Animal Hospital
Guys with Kids
1600 Penn

The New Normal and Go On will get renewals but they're no replacements for The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec and Community in their first/second seasons in either ratings, passionate fanbases or critical acclaim.

All NBC needs is a big comedy hit along with other decent comedies to rebuild their comedy night, whichever night that may be. Thursdays seem like a lost cause right now and they're better off sticking the Biggest Loser or The Voice there as any new or existing comedy on Thursdays is a disaster ratings wise.

ABC's comedy lineup was non-existent before Modern Family and now they have a competitive lineup on Wednesdays. It still has problems but instead of only having Samantha Who air after Dancing with the Stars they have comedies on Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays to varied results.

NBC needs to go all in on Tuesdays this fall and rebuild their comedies on that night before Fox gets lucky in the comedy department and establishes a a respectable night there.

They have the Michael J Fox series, whether that is good or a hit we don't know but it will bring in more viewers than Animal Hospital.

Big Bang scored 20 million viewers this week, they have to go broad or else they'll hire someone who will. They're still developing single camera shows but expect more multi-cameras.

All comedies in development at NBC this year.
Any network saving shows in that list?

UPDATE: ‘Joe, Joe & Jane’, Jason Katims’ ‘About A Boy’ Comedies Get Pilot Orders At NBC
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

UPDATED: NBC has handed pilot orders to About A Boy, a single-camera comedy from Friday Night Lights and Parenthood developer/executive producer Jason Katims, Joe, Joe & Jane, a multi-camera comedy from writers-executive producers Joe Port and Joe Wiseman.

Based on the Nick Hornby book and the 2002 movie, About A Boy hails from Katims’ True Jack Prods; Universal TV; and Working Title and Tribeca Prods, the companies that produced the Hugh Grant-starring feature. Written and executive produced by Emmy-winner Katims, About A Boy follows the relationship between a bachelor man-child and the young boy who moves in next door with his kooky single mother. Katims’ head of development, Michelle Lee, serves as producer.

This is the second stab at developing About A Boy as a comedy series. In 2003, Fox ordered a presentation written by Matthew Carlson, directed by Ken Kwapis and starring Patrick Dempsey. It also marks Katins second consecutuve pilot at NBC, following last season’s medical drama County. About A Boy is one of several projects Uni TV-based True Jack Prods has in contention this season, along with a Katims-penned spy dramedy and an edgy, legal romantic comedy penned by Sarah Watson at Fox.

This marks Katims’ first half-hour comedy effort and a return to his comedy roots. While all of his hourlong shows carry his signature humor, CAA-repped Katims has been looking to do a half-hour comedy. When Katims started out as a playwright, many of his plays were comedies. His first feature, The Pallbearer, also was a comedy before he segued to more dramatic fare.

Joe & Joe & Jane already had a hefty pilot production commitment as NBC landed the project in October in a very competitive situation. Loosely based on the relationship between Port, Wiseman and Wiseman’s wife, Joe, Joe & Jane centers on a conflict-avoidant children’s book author caught in an ongoing tug of war between two needy, flawed people: his wife and his co-author/ best friend. It’s not about a couple, it’s about a trouple. 20th TV, where Port and Wiseman are under a deal, is producing. This marks a third consecutive half-hour pilot order for UTA-repped Port and Wiseman, following another semi-autobiographical comedy, Rebounding, last year and Family Album in 2011. Both were single-camera and set up at Fox.
Moar Katims! Interested to see how he approaches half-hour comedy, if it gets picked up. If it does, it'll also be his third series in a row to be based on a film.

Knew that this probably wouldn't be happening, but thankful for the confirmation:

'Battle Royale' TV show not happening at CW

You probably already figured this out. But The CW’s fleeting interest in the ultra-violent Japanese cult novel Battle Royale isn’t going to result in a show.

The CW’s president Mark Pedowitz previously reporters last year he’d “love” to do a series version of the Hunger Games-style novel, where a high school class is dropped on an island and forced to kill each other with various weapons (including guns). On Sunday at the network’s Pasadena press tour, Pedowitz said the single phone call he made inquiring about the book’s rights — a moved that was leaked to the press and blew up in the media — hasn’t amounted to anything.

“We were not able to do anything,” said Pedowitz, who noted his interest in the project predated the Colorado and Connecticut mass shootings. “We are not planning to do anything with Battle Royale … nothing occurred … there’s nothing to talk about … nothing happened.”

The network still has The Selection in the works, a project that’s been compared to Hunger Games, but lacks a violent edge. Pedowitz said the new script for The Selection just came in and it’s very well done, but obviously the network has not yet made its pilot picks.

2 of the 3 actors didn't sign up for the OLTL online deal first time around, I highly doubt Michael Easton will resign again either, so the roles will probably have to be recast. As for the OLTL characters that GH have been using they may have to relinquish them either way unless they plan on continuing the crossover nonsense or just give the actors alternate roles that have nothing to do with OLTL characters.

Eventually every crime drama/procedural show starts feeling the same after so long but there are people who will still watch them on a weekly basis regardless.
Very true. As a former L&O addict, I completely understand.

And can Fox please cancel The X Factor. It's like Idol on crack.

I tried watching The X Factor this season and couldn't even make it through a single episode. It was horrid and made the first season look good by comparison.
