Cancelled shows of Tomorrow: The War on Chuck Lorre - Part 9

I liked The Passage. Ah well.

Fresh off the Boat is renewed and apparently Constance Wu isn't crazy about having to go back lol.

Such a ****ty look on her part. You're unhappy that you can't get out of that contract, you keep it between you and your people. Don't throw a public tantrum because you're getting work when you can throw a rock in any direction and hit an actor who would kill to be in her position.

Also not a great way to treat the cast and crew.

Besides, aren't most series regular deals for six seasons anyway? Keep your discontentment to yourself, cash that check and then get the hell out of there when the season's up...

Seems she was hoping it'd end so she could go be big movie star after Crazy Rich Asians. I imagine the set may be a little awkward after those social media posts and it may affect some future work projects now that her somewhat unprofessional attitude became known.

Yeah, she's getting compared to Katherine Helgl now

Honestly, if anything, that seems unfair to Heigl. All she did was say a season of her show wasn't Emmy-worthy. She didn't publicly throw a tantrum when her show managed to avoid being cancelled.

What did she say?

She isn't that established after Crazy Rich Asians that she can be guaranteed a movie career. She needs a few more films under her belt. Whether she'll get them now is another matter.

Wu basically said f*** a lot on Twitter, said "no it's not" in a tweet response when congratulated on her series being renewed and wrote "dislike" to the announcment on the official Instagram page before deleting it.

Later she claimed it was all a misunderstanding.

Constance Wu said:
Todays tweets were on the heels of rough day&were ill timed w/the news of the show. Plz know, Im so grateful for FOTB renewal. I love the cast&crew. Im proud to be a part of it. For all the fans support, thank u & for all who support my casual use of the word ****-thank u too

Constance Wu said:
That was not a rampage, it was just how I normally talk. I say **** a lot. I love the word. Y’all are making a lot of assumptions about what I was saying. And no, it’s not what it’s about. No it’s not..what this is all about. Stop assuming.

Deadline said:
Leaving no doubt on her true feelings, a fan’s congratulations on the “great news” was slapped down by Wu with a sullen reply: “No, it’s not.”

Wu reportedly topped off her tantrum by posting a “dislike” on the show’s official Instagram announcement. The comment has since been erased.

Deadline has a story but since it is uncensored profanity I can't link to it without getting warned.

I really had no idea she was so ready to leave FOTB but maybe she thinks she's ready to do movies now, or maybe it really is a "coincedence" she responded this way and said "no it's not" when told her series getting renewed was a good thing.

I found the passage rather dull. Not sure what it is about these vampire apocalypse shows that all seem to end up being so tedious. Van Helsing and The Strain got meh very quickly as well.

Zombie apocalypse shows seems to have a better go of things.

Seemed more like a limited series type show anyway.

It's pretty much Marcia Clark producing fan fiction about her own life and the OJ Simpson trial.

Watched one episode of The Fix and that was enough. [Snagglepuss voice]More than, even.[/Snagglepuss voice]

The kids don't get that reference.

I don't know how it could be a misunderstanding. But who knows what was going through her mind?

I know Pierce Brosnan didn't like it when Remington Steele was renewed. But that was a bit different then. He was already lined up to play James Bond and Remington Steele was already cancelled. And then because of all the publicity of being the next Bond, it brought back interest in RS. So they ended up renewing that series and he was locked into the contract and had to continue starring in it. And then once he lost the Bond role, it only went for about half a season before permanent cancellation. So he was completely screwed over.

I've watched a few episodes. Not the most interesting show. Apart from Robin Tunney, the rest of the cast is extremely bland. And it's got Mr Bland himself, Marc Blucas.

Wow, Constance Wu just shot herself in the foot with a rocket launcher. Why would she think that Fresh Off The Boat would be cancelled right now? Especially since Crazy Rich Asians' success would contribute to it being renewed. Not only will this turn the cast and crew of FOTB against her (if they aren't already), but she might have missed out on future projects because of this. I also wouldn't be surprised if this upcoming season of FOTB will be its last. The move to Friday was a questionable one but it seems to have done okay there. After all this, though, I can't see ABC wanting to keep her around.

I really want to see her explanation for how everyone got her tweets wrong and how posting "dislike" on the Instagram feed was anything but a negative reaction.

I've had a huge celebrity crush on Constance Wu and I actually really like her on FotB. She has deserved an Emmy for her role.
But yeah he just doesn't look good here.
I saw people trying to defend her, but she just looks bad. Of course everyone is allowed to complain about their jobs. But:
1) You should never do it on social media. That's just ridiculously immature
2) Again she's allowed to complain, but when you're a successful actor maybe making like a million bucks per season you just kinda come across as an ***hole.

I do agree that maybe after Crazy Rich Asians she may have some offers lined up. But someone pointed this out on Twitter. Randall Park is really working despite being on the show. Maybe not that many lead roles, but he's working. Even better example, before he left Steve Carrell was like in every episode of the Office and he still filmed Get Smart, Date Night, Little Miss Sunshine. You're options are way more limited when you have a major show to shoot, but I'd be surprised if there's nothing good for her to sign on to. Maybe not a major blockbuster that shoots for 3 months and required reshoots, but there should be something. And I feel like if she asked, they could write her out for a few eps.

But this is all from the outside looking in. I do also agree that the show should probably end with season 6
