CW Buys Lauren Graham Drama Project Produced By Ellen DeGeneres
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Five years after Gilmore Girls ended its run on the CW, star Lauren Graham is back at the network, this time as a series creator. The CW has put in development Someday, Someday, Maybe, a drama based on Graham’s debut novel, which was published in April. Graham will write the script for the project, from Gilmore Girls producer Warner Bros TV and Ellen DeGeneres‘ studio-based A Very Good Production. Someday, Someday, Maybe, which is expected to keep the book’s witty tone, centers on a young woman with six months left on her three-year plan to make a career as an actress in New York City. Graham is executive producing with Very Good Production’s DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman. Graham, who stars on NBC’s Parenthood, is with ICM Partners, manager John Carrabino and attorney Adam Kaller.
I love Graham. :o:up:

Fox Nabs Comedy From ’30 Rock’s Matt Hubbard, Tina Fey & Robert Carlock And Universal TV With Series Commitment
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

In a very competitive situation with multiple networks bidding, a multi-camera comedy from 30 Rock co-executive producer Matt Hubbard, creator/co-showrunner Tina Fey and co-showrunner Robert Carlock has landed at Fox with a series commitment. The project is set at a women’s college that, for the first time in its history, begins accepting men. It hails from Universal Television where Hubbard, Fey and Carlock are under overall deals, and Fey’s Little Stranger. This marks the second sale for Little Stranger this week. The company, in its first development season under a four-year deal Fey inked with Uni TV last fall, set up a single-camera comedy penned by another former 30 Rock writer-producer, Colleen McGuinness, at NBC. That project Fey also executive produces with Carlock who love working together and share offices in New York. Hubbard is writing the Fox project, which he is executive producing with Fey, Carlock and 3 Arts’ David Miner. The Matt Hubbard project extends Universal TV’s relationship with Fox where the NBC-affiliated studio has two comedy series on the fall schedule, the retuning Mindy Project and newbie Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Hubbard was 30 Rock for the series’ entire seven-season run, joining right after the pilot as a co-producer and rising through the ranks to a co-executive producer for the last four seasons. He won an Emmy in 2009 for writing the Reunion episode of the office comedy and also was nominated in the category in 2010 and 2011. Additionally, Hubbard shared in 30 Rock’s best comedy series win in 2009. Hubbard also is collaborating with Fey on the big screen, writing an untitled project for her at Universal TV’s sibling Universal Pictures. Hubbard, repped by UTA and attorney Ken Richman, has multi-camera comedy experience with a stint on the Friends spinoff Joey. Fey is with WME and 3 Arts. Little Stranger’s development is headed by Eric Gurian.
Multicam? Fox, you ruin everything! :argh:

I love Graham too, bought her book for my girlfriend and read it after her. It's great...

I also loved Gilmore Girls.

That's.... nice.

But I'm pretty sure it was cancelled due to its ratings, not the death of a supporting character.

Yes, but I think when the ratings start dropping shows pull those sorts of stunts and it has the adverse affect from what they intended. They think more people will watch if you change around the characters but they lose the loyalty of some of the long time viewers that liked those characters.

I have often noticed that the "death" of characters in shows leads to the eventual death of the show itself. Too many character changes = the beginning of the end.

....And DrDoom has come to taint this thread. :down

This thread had a nice run, even with Sawyer.

To be fair, I'm sure DrDoom's standards are far too high for Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham in real life. Ask anyone on the internet; he's like waaaay out of her league. :o

I'm sure Doom gets Heidi Klum-level chicks, but hates himself the next morning for slumming. :o

lol not even close.

Kate Upton? He couldn't pull a Kate Gosselin. AFTER popping out 8 kids.

Gigi Levangie To Adapt Her Upcoming Book ‘Seven Deadlies’ As Drama Series For MTV
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: Gigi Levangie, who previously helped adapt her novels The Starter Wife and Maneater as successful mini-series, is taking another novel to television. Levangie is set to co-write Seven Deadlies, a drama project for MTV based on her upcoming book of the same name, which will be published this fall by Blue Rider/Penguin. Seven Deadlies, which Levangie will be co-writing with Stacey Title and Jonathan Penner, is set in an exclusive, private high school and centers on a Latina scholarship student who discovers that her classmates carry the bloodlines of the seven deadly sins, and that she must defeat them in order to save the world all while maintaining her GPA. The Starter Wife mini premiered to big ratings on USA, spawning a regular series, which aired for one season. Levangie is repped by WME, Wetdog Entertainment and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Fox Buys Ensemble Comedy Produced By Aaron Kaplan
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

It’s a high-five at Fox for Fives, a single-camera comedy from writer/executive producer Shawn Wines, executive producer Aaron Kaplan and Warner Bros. TV, which has received a script commitment. The project reunites all the auspices of last season’s comedy Upstairs, which marked aspiring filmmaker Wines’ first sale. Fox brass liked the writer’s effort, based on his viral comedy short, and were interested in developing with him again. Fives is about a group of people who are excruciatingly average (5 on a scale of 10), coming together to battle daily life in the most image-conscious city in the world: Los Angeles. Kaplan has a history of keeping creative teams intact, which has worked well for him. He worked with comedy writer Dana Klein and 20th TV during the 2011-12 development season on Daddy’s Girls, which went to pilot at NBC. The following season, the same group landed a series order at CBS for Friends With Better Lives.
I guarantee that if Fives gets a pilot order, the actors they cast will be no lower than 8s. :o

Fox Buys Male Laverne & Shirley Comedy From Andrea Abbate & 20th TV As Put Pilot
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Fox has been very aggressive on the comedy side this season, taking another high-profile half-hour project from sibling 20th Century Fox TV off the market pre-emptively with a major commitment. The network has handed a put pilot commitment to a comedy from writer Andrea Abbate, 20th TV and studio-based 21 Laps/Adelstein. Tentatively titled Paroled, the project is described as a male Laverne and Shirley on parole. WME-repped Abbate executive produces with 21 Laps/Adelstein’s Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy and Becky Clements. This is a re-teaming for Abbate, 20th TV and 21 Laps/Adelstein who last year sold a family comedy to ABC with a put pilot commitment. The project went to pilot toplined by Kelly Preston.

This is the third comedy project from 20th TV that Fox has bought pre-emptively in a big deal this summer, following pilot production commitments for Nahnatchka Khan, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash’s Fatrick and Cindy Chupack/Jake Kasdan’s The Longest Date. The network also has made the only series commitment to a half-hour project so far this season, snatching a college comedy from Matt Hubbard, Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and Universal TV, and also has given put pilot commitments to comedies Stuck, produced by Rashida Jones & Will McCormack through Warner Bros., and The Henchman, from Dan Kopelman and John Hamburg, which was bought on spec.

Fox Nabs Adaptation Of Australian Comedy ‘A Moody Christmas’ From Doug Ellin & CBS Studios With Put Pilot Commitment
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: In a very competitive situation with four networks bidding, A Moody Christmas, an adaptation of the Australian series of the same name, has landed at Fox with a put pilot commitment. Entourage creator Doug Ellin is executive producing the single-camera project, which hails from CBS TV Studios and studio-based Tannenbaum Co. Jungleboys’ Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd, creators of the original series, will write the Fox adaptation and executive produce with Ellin; Eric and Kim Tannenbaum; and Jason Burrows of Jungleboys, the production company behind the Australian series. A Moody Christmas tells the story of a young man who was smart enough to leave his family behind and dumb enough to come back again. The sale is part of CBS Studios’ effort this season to evolve from a supplier to siblings CBS and the CW to a studio that sells to all networks. It marks the first put pilot commitment from an outside network for the studio, which has set up several projects at ABC and Fox, including a comedy from Jennie Snyder Urman at Fox. I hear CBS TV Studios made a strategic decision to set up the Moody Christmas project at Fox, which was deemed the best creative fit for the quirky family comedy that bares some similarities to Fox’s Raising Hope, also about a grown-up son and his dysfunctional family.

A Moody Christmas, which aired on Australia’s ABC1 last December, chronicles an Australian family’s Christmas Day over six years through the eyes of the youngest son. (Watch the trailer below). A follow-up series, The Moodys, starts shooting next week in Sydney. O’Donnell, repped by Gersh and Mosiac, and Lloyd, repped by Gersh and Avalon, created another Australian series that is getting a U.S. remake: Review With Myles Barlow, developed as Review With Forrest MacNeal at Comedy Central with Andrew Daly. Ellin, who is working on the long-gestating Entourage movie, and the Tannenbaums are with CAA. This marks the latest major commitment for a comedy project at Fox this season.

Family Thriller From Jerry Bruckheimer & Aron Eli Coleite Goes To Fox As Put Pilot
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: In its first sale this broadcast pitch season, Jerry Bruckheimer Television has set up a drama at Fox with a put pilot commitment. Written by Aron Eli Coleite, Home is a family thriller/soap that delves into the secrets lingering behind the facade of a suburban family. Coleite, Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman executive produce and KristieAnne Reed co-executive produce for Jerry Bruckheimer TV and Warner Bros. TV.

This marks the third consecutive pairing and third straight put pilot commitment for CAA-repped Coleite and Jerry Bruckheimer TV. During the 2011-12 development season, they sold drama Trooper to CBS, which went to pilot and was later piloted by TNT. Last season, they teamed up for an FBI drama, which also landed at CBS. Bruckheimer TV has high-profile new drama series Hostages on CBS this fall where it will join the company’s veterans CSI and The Amazing Race. Heroes alum Coleite most recently wrote a script for the CW’s Wonder Woman project Amazon.

"A single christmas day chronicled over 6 years?"

That sounds awful.

I think it means six years worth of Christmas days...
