It was good but pretty far from the actual DD comic suit,
Except, it wasn't. The only significant difference was that the movie suit had the "DD" symbol on the left side of the chest instead of in the middle.

I think if we had a suit like the 89 suit but mobile and without the yellow symbol just to make it more suttle, we would have a great batman movie suit. But Nolan wants us to know batman has to have major protection to show how dangerous gotham and its villains are.
I was hoping something along the lines of an 'advanced' version of the '89 suit was in store in Begins. Naturally, it'd need to be tweaked (largely having to do with the fact that it weighed 70+ lbs. and should have better fit the wearer), but I really liked the organic look it had; almost like a spectre. Sorta like what they move toward with the Returns suit, but without the abdominal plating. In general, too much stylization bothers me.

it still looks organic to me...a sort of bio-mechanical look ... just awesome;-)

Well Saint as far as I know, from the various Daredevil comics I do have, he does not wear a leather suit that zips up in the front, he wears a full red bodysuit with the cowl attached as one piece, close to the same material that Spiderman wears. Im not sure why you would think otherwise, just in the mood to debate today I see.:woot:

Im with you on that one!

Yeah, I felt it stayed very true to the comic version, but you had to expect modernization. What hero truly runs around in straight up lycra?

Spidey is the only one that comes to mind but there was so much more to that suit than what it was in the comics.

I'm all for black and gray tights but today's technology would have made the classic comic suit look archaic

sure they use modern materials....im wondering now why they didnt choose something more stable than just leather for DD.
i mean he fights criminals too...he could get hurt...
spiderman is fast and has super strenght that he needs less protection...
does this means that bruce aint the super fighter we all think he should be???
i mean a ninja cant escape from bullets ...atleast not in real life...in movies its another thing;-)...so im wondering why he needs this protective suit and others dont????
the only ones who could run around naked are the hulk and superman..and of course some others...thanks god they dont:-)
as for bruce he would just need his gadgets and his suit for beeing a superhero ...wich of course he hasnt any other powers....exept beeing a high ranked ninja warrior.....

I can't stop picturing a naked Hulk... "Hulk weener not puny! Hulk smash Betty!"

They messed up with this suit!!!

It's like they streamlined the BB suits and threw chunks of metal plating on it - not caring where or how it fell.

Batman as a character needs too have mystique!!! - and for all their faults the Burton suits achieved that. Nolan is missing the point here.

The new suit just screams... 'I'm here to kick your ass... but I'm protected cause i know Gotham is a rough and dangerous place... hey don't laugh at my egghead!'

Love the website pic and the suit. It looks great there.

not caring where or how it felt???? no way it realy rembers of knights of the medi-eval...protecting rips, stomich and shoulders...chain mail beneath......and a helmet of course too...its a modern knight thats what i guess they are trying to bring on screen

You will notice that I said "significant difference," which means I was discounting insignificant differences. If you consider leather, a zipper, and a separate cowl as making the suit "pretty far from the comic suit," then the you must also think the Spider-Man suit is "pretty far from the comic" by virtue of reflective lenses, raised silver webbing, textured bodysuit, and inaccurate backside spider symbol.

I'm starting to think that anytime someone poses, most of you will think it's badass.

Quote from THE GUARD: “Nope. Protection isn't a good reason either, as he fell three stories in the BEGINS suit on fire and was just fine.”

The reason he survived that fall was because of the PROTECTION provided by the BB Nomex survival suit. Regarding the DK suit, I will go back to the Batpod wipe-out example: Would you rather spill out on a motorcycle with or without the protection provided by the segments of leg armor? I would definitely prefer having armor segments scraped across the pavement versus my thigh, hip, or kneecap.

Since you have all of 14 posts, I will be gentle. Thank you for stating the obvious and missing the point entirely. I'd rather fall off a motorcycle in a suit that protected me from falling three stories on fire than a suit that was designed to protect me if I fell off a motorcycle. I don't know anyone who wouldn't. This is my point. "I need this suit for added protection" is just a STUPID reason to have the suit. He clearly already had a ton of protection.

Now, that may not BE his reason in the movie. We'll see.

Quote from THE GUARD: “I considered the ventilation aspect months ago, but it's just not a valid reason. He's likely wearing undergarmets, and wearing that black mesh itself will not exactly be "cooling" once there's armor pieces on top of it. Bottom line, he's going to sweat regardless.”

I disagree. True, you cannot COMPLETELY prevent perspiration. However, a mesh that breathes with segments of armor on top, and ventilation gaps inbetween, will be cooler overall versus one solid slab of armor that wraps completely around the leg without any "air gutters". The lower half of the body can be harmed by heat and excess sweat. Athletes often suffer from rashes on their feet, thighs and groin. It does not hurt to put effort into minimizing the heat and perspiration in those areas.

I won't deny that the mesh will minimize the heat and perspiration. But minimizing it, in the long run, just really is not going to matter. And certainly doesn't matter enough to make the suit look so damned awful.

He's going to sweat regardless. Anyone who has worn a Batsuit can attest to this.

If the mesh effectively ventilates heat from the neck, why wouldn't it from the rest of the body? It must be tough for pro-football players who have to wear huge helmets while being extremely active in midday sun, (and to reinforce my points above, even they wear hip, thigh and knee pads…connected with a fabric layer for a combined effect of protection and ventilation). Interestingly enough, the more I think about football gear, the more the DK suit makes sense. Check this out:

You are missing the point. The point is not whether mesh is an effective ventilator. The point is whether it FEELS different to the person in the suit. It doesn't. When you're compressed in a suit, you're generally not going to feel a whole lot of heat on your legs, arms, etc. The heat will be felt on your head, neck, upper back and chest.

Again, I disagree. Bats is well-lit here…and looks damn formidable:

He's just standing there begging to be shot in the mouth. How is that "formidable"?

The geek level of this board just shot through the roof. Do you prowl the streets at night dressed as Batman or something?

Are you serious?

I've worn a Batsuit as a Halloween costume, as have literally dozens of costumers. There are people who can create suits every bit as intricate as the franchise's. Go check out the Brotherhood of the Bat costuming forums.

Okay, as a Halloween costume. I just wanted that cleared up.
