Endgame Captain America/Steve Rogers - Chris Evans

I knew it, so he was in make-up and prosthetics mixed with the Cgi tech for Old Man Rogers. Fantastic. So happy they allowed him to do it. And didn't get an elderly actor to portray old Man Steve.

Out of the original Avengers, for me it was Cap. Ive always been a fan of Evans but ever since his debut in the 1st Avenger solo film, I grew to appreciate the character, not just emotionally but throughout his journey to the end of the line in Endgame. Thank you Chris for bringing Captain America and Steve Rogers to life. He finally got that dance he rightfully deserved with Peggy. :)

They basically used the same techniques on Evans that they used to make Haley Atwell into old Peggy in TWS.

I love that Marvel’s age-altering tech is sufficiently advanced that there will rarely be a reason to substitute actors for instances like these.

I forgot to mention how awesome the eagle scaled Cap outfit was in this. It was even better than his CA:TWS stealth suit.

Yep, easily his best suit so far.

It tops the AoU suit for me (my previous favourite).

Really liked the AEG suit but I'd be lying if I didn't think it was too toned down in color. My ideal would be the design of the AEG suit with the colors of the TFA combat suit. The colors popped more in TFA but weren't as bright as say the A1 suit. Still, a very good suit in this film and Evans rocked it while wearing it.

Yeah, the costume designer and effects firm did a great job with the new suit, especially as regards to how well they incorporated the scale mail. It also appears to be a little more wide and sturdy in the upper torso area (not unlike some of the other suits in AEG). I don't know if that's the result of using a thin definition suit beneath the fabric so as to give Evans' Cap more of that classic superhero V-shape, or because said effects firm simply had better/more modern materials to work with this time. Either way, they nailed it!

I love that we got Cap vs. Thanos, that sequence before the calvery shows up was epic. Cap was the last Man Standing and even though the odds were stacked against him with the forces of darkness approaching. Steve stood his ground tighten his strap on his shield and pressed on like a hero. It was even better than in the comics. 4604375-0772623876-capta.jpg

It was damn amazing. They got that scene (and the one that immediately followed) completely right.

Best suit, The chainmail suit looked phenomenal, Cap shined and it worked up against the background of the Dark palate. Excellent lighting and visually appealing. I also love that he wore his helmet the whole time. Chris Evans was able to show great emotion within the mask. I just love this scene NFioty44cm7QZ7PmdSVh7A-320-80.jpg

Elsewhere on a lighter note, welcome to The Evans Verse! Chris Evans in most of his memorable roles in films.

I know everyone loves RDJ, but for me, for my money, Chris Evans has been the MVP of this whole franchise. Whereas I feel RDJ was just being himself after the first Ironman, Chris Evans BECAME Steve Rogers and embodied him impeccably and I think Endgame was Evan's finest performance.

His facial acting, the things he was conveying with just his eyes without saying anything. That moment where Thanos summons his entire fleet, the camera just lingers on Chris as he has this simultaneous look of “well...f*ck” and “ okay, you son of a b*tch, if I’m gonna go down, I’m going down on my feet, like a soldier. Bring it on.” And then when he sees Sam and all of his friends come back, the silent almost tearful look of hope and elation that fills his face, God Evans sold it perfectly.

To me, Steve has always been my anchor, while everyone else was being snarky and wisecracky Steve was the one bringing everyone back to reality and holding it together, he was the leader.

I think given how this has played out among fans that intentionally or not, unless there's a future movie that point blanks states what's up with the ending of AEG that we have ourselves a modern "Blue Skies on Mars" situation.

Which given the dueling explanations from the talent involved... Maybe that was part of the plan all along?

'Avengers: Endgame' Writers Take on Biggest Fan Theories

The writers mantain their idea that Steve was always Peggy's husband.

And their kids have somewhat super soldier DNA.
I'm calling BS as their explanation goes against the time travel rules they set up for the film. I'm more willing to believe the Russo Bros explanation of him creating a branched timeline and he uses the quantum GPS to get back to main MCU timeline.

Yeah, this is the problem. They went to great lengths to hammer home to the audience what time travel logistics and effects would be for their story. This was an issue for myself given how it came off the first time I saw the film. That this needed or still needs clarification is one of the few big flaws the film has. I think if Steve had just shown up via the way he left at the end but then the helmet retracts and he's old and then explains as he did in the film what's up, it would be less murky, but they decided on something that was more "dramatic" and satisfying on a narrative level over choices more leaning into clarity.

Steve's absence was pretty much cemented by a dementia-laden Peggy's reaction to him in a scene from Winter Soldier. "Oh Steve, it's been so long!" Having just relapsed, she clearly wasn't faking here.

Taking into account that Peggy has dementa to the degree that she forgot the conversation she had with Steve pretty fast, it would not be impossible to assume that Peggy forgot that Steve return and he was his husband.

I might've been inclined to agree with you had her response been slightly different. But she clearly says, it's "been so long." Granted, this can be interpreted as a figure of speech on her part, but I take it to mean that quite some time had passed since their last encounter (as did most Winter Soldier audiences, in fact).

That's the way Winter Soldier want you to intepret the scene.

In Peggy's mind, she hasn't seen Steve in a long time.

However, at that point, it is possible Peggy forgot Steve return and they being married (even if she remember she has a good life).
