Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 7

And just like that the most tweeted gif from this trailer is Carol hitting the old lady lol.

Dunno. Can't really see fury say off you go fight the kree for decades i'll page if we need you. In another 20 years i might even get a team together to help protect earth.

She'd have to have allies or even friends to make that sound less depressing. Maybe nova force?

Be interesting to find out.

It is always going to be a trick to explain why Fury didn't call her sooner. My assumption is the pager is if she is needed again in a world ending scenario, but in the meantime she is defending Earth from the stars.

this was sooooo hype

It has nothing special in it. The last Marvel teasers were all special in their way.
Civil War - the fight between friends/heroes
Doctor Strange - the "inception" effects
Guardians 2 - pretty much the humor and music like in 1st one
Spiderman - the light tone and humor...after all it's Spiderman AND Iron Man
Thor Ragnarök - the space opera look and feel
Black Panther - the african culture and vibes compared to the high technological environment
Avengers Infinity War - the big brawl
Ant Man & the Wasp - the shrink/resizing of objects, cars, buildings

But Captain Marvel looked uninteristing like the trailers for Justice League. Also the lack of charisma of Brie Larson (not like in Room - more like in Kong)

I'm guessing she goes into space in some experimental rocket ship as a pilot, gets hit with some Kree tech or cosmic force that gives her powers while leaving her amnesic. The kree take her in and use her as a warrior/weapon in their war against the Skrulls . Over time Carol has memories of her past on Earth and begins to question things which put her at odds with the Kree. Possibly crashes back on Earth hunting some Skrulls who are part of the secret invasion of the planet.

It looks like we see Carol get her powers in the trailer at the 1:37 moment on Earth. Possible downed Kree ship? Or perhaps the Kree are on Earth for a reason, and super-powered human (however accidental her origin) may be beneficial to their plans.

The Kree do thrive on knowledge of their enemy, so maybe they needed some information in her head.

Everything looks pretty good . Brie looks great and I liked the way they're doing her origin with her rediscovering her memories. Also, the de-aging effects on Fury and Coulson looked fantastic. Looks like they've perfected that effect. The music was a bit generic but I kinda liked it so .

Agree. Just think she'll have a couple of allies. I think the skrull war isn't over and she joins the kree in the fight. Where that leaves mar vell i don't know.

I think there is going to be a reason she takes the mantle Captain Marvel. I don't see them keeping Mar-Vell a villain entirely. Him betraying his own people is key to his character, so I see him joining Carol in the climax. I would be shocked if he lived. I am assuming she decides to take the fight to the Kree or something.

Maybe they're going the first Mission Impossible film route and making Mar-Vell the villain and she faces off against him in the end and kills him. Perhaps he was the Kree who abducted her. Then maybe she steals his identity in the end to become Captain Marvel as poetic justice since he stole her life here on Earth from her. Notice he's not wearing red and blue so it hardly seems that she's wearing those colours to honour him.

Agreed. He should have paged her when Loki attacked with the Chitauri but I guess they could say his first option was the Avengers.

I don't think she would join Minerva, and we know Korath joins Ronan. Might her and the Skrull come to some form of alliance? There is many directions they can go here.

If the trailer is accurate and the Kree seemingly tied Carol to a machine and wiped her memories essentially, then it'd give her plenty of reason to turn on them once she realized what colossal A-holes they can be.

Loved the opening with her falling into a Blockbuster. Surprised to see they're going with the amnesia angle, but that IS a thing in Kelly Sue's first volume (one thing I didn't care for), so I guess I shouldn't be. Shocked and impressed they're actually using the helmet at some point, and it doesn't actually look bad! All in all, I think everything looks great so far, and this was a damn near perfect teaser. I liked it better than BP's first trailer, personally.

Carol punching the old lady will probably become a useful meme, lol.

Though the trailer didn't show much, I love that we could get flashes of her personality from the little we got. One of my favourite shots was that of her and Maria. They both looked so cool and badass, like these are women you don't want to mess with. The swagger in that shot makes me want to join them lol.

I think I'm going to love Carol as much as I love Captain marvel.

Yeah, I do wonder if they're doing a twist on Mar-Vell and making him the antagonist in the end, like in Mission Impossible. I suppose hardcore Mar-Vell fans might get pissed about this, but Marvel has done things like this before (Pierce in The Winter Soldier).
