Energy is radiating from her. It goes out from a source and if Carol is the source, then it’s traveling out of her. Makes a lot of sense to me.
I'm sure you feel it does...
In reality that's not how static electricity works why's all the hair directly upward? There's no wind or direct magnetic field above her unless her powers randomly create it. Even then it doesn't behave like hair should as it looks way too super Saiyan-y. It just looks unnatural and goofy. Very unrealistically hokey. I chuckled everytime I see that scene.

It's a comic book movie.

My guess is that Carol is one of the following:

A) A Kree "Super-Weapon" who was hidden on earth by her handler/mother (The X-23 plot)
B) The product of an relationship between a Skrull and a Kree who raised her as a human on earth (The Saga plot)

Wolverine's claws are longer than his hands, where do they go when they're sheathed?

Come on, man.

EDIT: I meant sheathed. Why am I so dumb

Come on, man.

I assume they retract into his arms above the wrist. Didnt the original Xmen Trilogy show xrays with his claws retracted?

Edit: Yep they retract into his forearm:

Also, "it's a comic book movie", is a piss poor excuse for gene simmons hair. Aside from how silly it looks, I'm left wondering what's protecting it from being singed off or destroyed by her powers. Maybe the Kree gave her some awesome conditioner and shampoo. :p

She's consistently been great in her previous movies, I have no idea what is happening here. Maybe she's not cut out to play action heroes?
Thanks for the link.

I don't see the issues you guys have with Brie. You've not even seen the movie to judge her, and there is nothing on that trailer that indicates she is a bad actor or Wrong for this role. Some people for one reason or the other wants her to be a bad actress. They keep parroting the same thing. I bet if anyone asks them which part of the trailer that gave them concern about her ability as an actress, they can't point it out. The fact they do this about an award winning actress is bizarre.

It's the same trailer as the teaser just a bit longer. Same generic music, same scenes (some just extended or a different part of the same scene scene), same motif, same exposition just with a little more context and more of her powers. Some of the CGI is also meh though hopefully that gets fixed.

Didn't Brie say months ago that her character was kind of a hothead? So why is even in her regular human pre-accident form so bland? Her cat is named Goose (Top Gun reference right?). Anyone remember how those fighter pilots behaved? Why are her and her pilot friend so laid back and chill and bland? Is she a hothead fighter pilot or not? Even her regular human persona from before is totally meh.

I mean, we haven't seen anything of of her pre-accident. Or even as a kree warrior for that matter. Both trailers, character-wise, seem to be focusing on a very narrow window of time in which she's trying to figure out her identity with Nick Fury, which I don't even think will be most of the plot. I do agree she comes of as a bit dumbfounded in the trailers, which isn't exactly the best way to sell your protagonist, but I do think they really, really don't want to tell us more about the plot due to spoilers (otherwise this second trailer wouldn't be covering the exact same beats as the first).

Much better trailer than the first.

I don't understand how some people here are already writing off her acting performance based off of a trailer!

Except I wasn't making an excuse for "Gene Simmons hair". You can dislike the look all you want, but he was arguing about how static electricity works in nature which is a pretty absurd line of reasoning to bring into a movie about a half-alien woman who doesn't age flying through space and punching aliens. Thought that was pretty obvious.

It has nothing to do with her being a woman for me. I'm a woman for heaven's sake. It's just that she has this dead look in her eyes most of the time and monotone line delivery, and zero charm in any of the footage so far. The closes I've seen her being an actual person is when she is in the fighter plane cockpit with her fellow female pilot, there is some personality when she is sharing the screen with her. It's all just perception so far as I'm not seeing any range in the performance as of yet. Doesn't mean that there won't be any in the movie.
You saw some personality there because that was her life before the brainwashing and everything. you didn't see anything when she smiled at fury? what exactly did you want in the other scenes. And obviously some of the lines on that trailer will not match the scenes shown, they might not even be in the movie. I've never seen people dissect an mcu trailer as much as they do captain marvels.

I wasn’t expecting her to be taking on spaceships. We definitely haven’t seen anything like that in a CBM before. I would love to know how long that scene lasts.
I hope that scene is the climax.

Uh you're right, I forgot about that. Still, there's plenty of stuff that doesn't make sense about superheroes.

Okay but if you've read my other posts you know that I like Brie Larson a lot. There's just something off about her performance as Carol... it's as if she's trying really hard to play a stoic badass and kind of failing at it.

It's unfortunate because "stoic badass" is not how I'd describe Captain Marvel (at least not my favorite version of her). And that's why Brie was literally my first choice for this role... because playing stoic badasses is not what she's famous for.

Here's an interesting interview that has just been released, btw.

I mean, I think she has an ego, but in a healthy way. She doesn’t have an unrealistic expectation of herself, she just owns that she’s really good and really skilled. Which feels good to play. She also has an incredible sense of humor, makes fun of herself, makes fun of other people. Has no issue if someone makes fun of her..
See? That's the stuff that Marvel should show us in the trailers, yet they keep refusing to do it.

I can point out which part concerned me, every part in which she had dialogue. I typically like Brie but as someone said earlier, here she seems "dead behind the eyes" so to speak. Plus for some reason, imo, she sounds like she's trying to make her voice as delicate and prepubescent as possible. Which makes her delivery of a line like "Im not going to fight your war. I'm going to stop it." elcicit more of a chuckle from me than a "**** yeah". Idk, maybe that's intentional and she felt her character needed to seem somewhat delicate and unassuming when powered down because her powers are so OP. Sort of a Yoda type situation where the most unassuming person sometimes holds the most power.

All this being said I've learned that much of what's in a marvel trailer might not even be in the movie. The dialogue and takes that I'm having issues with may not even be in he film. And for some reason 9 times out of 10 MCU trailers underwhelm me or give me concerns. I've gotten used to their trailers rarely doing it for me and won't write the film off until I actually watch it.

And he wouldnt be arguing that if CM didnt have gene simmons hair.

Another thing I've just thought of is this person is supposed to be a super soldier that wears body armor, a combat helmet, and flies through space engaging in combat against spaceships and god only knows what else. And for some unfathomable reason her combat helmet has a gaping hole exposing the top of her skull so that her pretty locks can flap about in the breeze. I could actually go along with the silliness of it if they hang a lantern on it in the film by having Carol or someone point out how silly or absurd it is.

where is that shot of Ronan people said they saw I'm half blind so I need help lol

Brie looks great

I want to see Carol, Thor, and Hulk triple team Thanos without the gauntlet. The Russos made Thor look really good, I'm betting Carol's going to get a similar boost.

He got slightly overpowered for like a couple minutes when he had like 6 super powered people on him with the stones so it'd be possible without it maybe.

I was referring to others and some complaints I saw on other sites. Maybe they don't want to spoil the movie. If they say that's the Carol we'll get, then there's no reason to complain before seeing the movie. The trailer is more about selling her as an all powerful character that is trying to discover who she is. we get to go on that journey with her. I think that is more intriguing than showing us her sassy side, we already have a lot of sassy characters in the mcu. Her being sassy is not that important to show here, we'll get that in the movie.

I hope not. I'd rather be surprised by the third act. I still wish they had never shown Hulk saving Iron Man in the first Avengers in the trailers.
It looks too awesome to be anything else.

Just a view of his back looking out from a ship at a space battle. 1:45 mark in the trailer.

Who cares?

I don't think that's entirely due to gender but it is weird how Brie is seemingly under a microscope here. She's playing a character that is discovering her past alongside the audience, but that's seemingly not coming into consideration here.

And he wouldnt be arguing that if CM didnt have gene simmons hair.

I look forward to the next Superman trailer in which you will expound on how ridiculous it is that no one recognizes Clark without his glasses.
