Captain Marvel Captain Marvel's Power Level - Predictions and what would we like to see

I'd be careful with that myself. One of the most annoying parts of the JL movie was how Superman so effortlessly overpowered basically the entire team, and then the villain that they were struggling to beat before then, by himself. It made him seem too powerful and the rest of the team felt redundant.

And one of the things that the previous Marvel films have done well to avoid is to have one hero just curbstomp the others.

There is also just writing situations where your character, no matter how powerful cannot solve the problem just by punching it or blasting it with energy.

Also, as an origin film finesse of power, skill of usingvthem is also a factor.

It's obvious the way they're talking about her that she's indeed going to seem more powerful than her comics counterpart. I'm just wondering how much more. Like, are we talking Binary powers all the time? Because Binary destroyed a planet in one blast. I personally don't want her to be that powerful all the time, in part because it would be too awesome to watch her go into Binary mode the first time. That's such a potentially great "hell yes" moment I need to see.

And spoiler regarding Infinity War: [blackout]Since we know Fury has apparently had a line to her this whole time and never used it, could it be that her power-level scares even him, and he never wanted to call her back to Earth unless literally all other hope was lost?[/blackout]

No. If she doesn't use an Avenger to beat another Avenger, there's no point.

I love it when she manhandles Iron Man. That time she drop-kicked him through a jumbo jet was strangely satisfying even though it was a huge blunder, lol.

They should put a lot of attention on her energy absorption power. Without it she seems like a female Superman clone. It is also something not done yet in MCU I think?

Yeah give a lot of focus to her non-standard powers to differentiate her more.

This is glorious. Where's it from? Infinity?

You know, it's a shame that we probably won't get to see Tony and Carol's "complicated" friendship in the MCU. One of the downsides of introducing her this late in the series.

yeah, this could be it.

a very big wild card.

Never read anything about this character. Is she stronger than Hulk, Thor and Strange ?

Basically, yeah. At least on-par with current post-Ragnarok uber-Thor. Maybe moreso as depicted in the MCU, from stuff we've been hearing from Feige lately.

Basically, she’s not in the comics, but she has the potential to be in the movies. And based on the way Feige keeps talking about her, it sounds like she will be. Some of her feats in the comics when in Binary mode (essentially her “Super Saiyan” mode) certainly eclipse anything we’ve seen from the other MCU heroes in the movies to date.

I kept thinking why didn't he call her all the times the world was in danger or why didn't she come to help all on her own, but I'm assuming she's only recently come back to Earth from wherever she was stuck in space. I can't wait for the CM movie to explain her absence now.

[BLACKOUT]I don’t think she’s on Earth yet at all. That device looked like some sort of space-tech communicator that wouldn’t feel out of place in a GotG movie. I think wherever he’s contacting her, she is still VERY far away.[/BLACKOUT]

Just had a look at the other thread, and yep that makes a lot of sense.

it's too scary how Feige, Russo brothers and script writers are hyping her up.

I'm guessing in the origin we'll get some energy absorption leading to a brief Binary mode. It'll probably be at the end of the film. Depending on the damage she does it may even be the reason she doesn't come back to Earth.

My guess is she'll probably a little stronger than Thor, and trained like Cap. Plus if they have her shoot out Photonic Blasts she's got Iron Man covered. Have her go Binary and she's just a force.

Honestly, doing that would keep her better equipped than most of the Avengers, and at a decent power level without going to overboard in A4. I think she'd fit in to any plan to keep an army at bay until it's time to take down the big bad. Essentially it would be like A1 with everyone playing a role but she would be the nuke.

I wonder if she'll play her part by maybe helping to drain the gauntlet of power? I think its her energy powers which will play the biggest part in elevating her to the top tier power level.

We see Wanda is able to destroy an individual stone when its at normal power. Obviously she had a connection to that particular one given that it was involved in her getting powers, but it does show the stones can be destroyed. If Carol was involved in draining the gauntlets stones somewhat, then using that power boost to go Binary, that mixed with the other Avengers might level the playing field somewhat.

When Carol goes Binary it is like Goku from Dragonball going super saiyan.
And if [blackout]Thanos hits her with energy from the Power Stone like he did when fighting the others[/blackout]...this is potentially exactly what will happen. Since energy absorption is her main thing.

after watching A:IW
[BLACKOUT]the gauntlet is almost completely melted so I guess it's power will be massively weaker. I can definitely see CM beating base Thanos without going Binary or absorbing some of it's pwoer if her strength will be that high.[/BLACKOUT]

I'd love to see her have more esoteric cosmic powers. Like energy manipulation. Maybe she absorbs the power of a star to get a power up? That could be cool.

Clearly the way to settle this is have Carol beat them both up in her debut.
there is a scene in A4 (Scarlet was talking about it) with CM and Hulk.

If they don't have a scene where Captain Marvel overpowers Thor and/or Hulk, then what's even the point? It would be like not having that scene where Shuri demonstrates just how much more intelligent she is than Tony and Bruce while Bruce stammers awkwardly like a doofus. You can't have female empowerment without a little emasculation, right?
