Cartoons/Animes That Could Actually Be Successful in Live Action

Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Allusions to our own History fused with galactic politics and personal stories that would blow most animes out of the water. Not the best animation, but certainly the most well considered and well written animated series I've ever come across.
A live action movie or sci-fi series would be such a welcome sight.

Full Metal Alchemist with a score by Ennio Morricone. An Elseworld's WW1-2 Germany complete with a mythology that rivals Star Wars, incredibly complex, interesting characters, multiracial ideals clashing in a huge history spanning centuries, a dark plot involving genocide and conspiracy, adventure with a MacGuffin, accessibility for many audiences due to its comic book stylized action and multilayered story, and huge potential for multiple films.

Naruto. Alot like harry potter and with a good cast and right direction it could be a bigger hit than it already is.

Fullmetal alchemist. probaly one of the best choices to be in a movie. The story from both animes is well done and can be the next star wars (as sombody alreday said)

Elfen lied. Cut out all the over the top nudity and brutal killings and you got yourself a well paced solid story

Devvil may cry. A movie pretty much made for Micheal bay to direct.

Young justice. i dont care what anybody says. I really love the sidekicks and hope they get a movie somtime.

Bleach. Could be a very good movie aswell if directed by someone like synder.

He's long overdue for a film, toughest thing is finding an actor who looks like the character

Hollywood is going to want to make their own versions of these. I suspect what they were going to try and do with the Uncharted game series would have watered down the essence of what makes the games so good so that it would be marketable to the masses. If they were to rehash FMA or Bleach, it wouldn't feel right. One film that seemed to capture the essence of its show was Space Battleship Yamato. It didn't appeal to the mass market, because they made it for the fans. I hope that they're able to strike a balance.

Well, there you go.

Wasn't there a whole teaser trailer for Gaiking that led to absolutely nothing?

Having seen that the Kaiju shared universe consisting of Kong and Gozilla which seems to be taking off with good CGI being placed into their creatures, I think the world may be ready for a live action take of this, especially after seeing Kong: Skull Island.

Although definitely a quirky, niche franchise, it's part mythology, epic fantasy dragon riders, part future sci-fi space opera, part giant monster " Harryhausen creature feature / prehistoric lost world, part super-hero, all wrapped in a personal family drama, probably the coolest genre mash ever created in cartoons.
Yet in the end it's so much it's own thing, most studios would probably go wtf and wouldn't even know how to approach it.

I would definitely say He Man for sure and Dragonball provided they go the Power Rangers route and make Dragonball more darker more humanized somewhat

A few of you said Gundam Wing. Ten times yes!!!

Also DBZ if they do it correctly, not like the first time around.

I hope they never attempt to adapt DBZ ever again. I got to see the characters on the big screen with Resurrection F and that's good enough for me.

Resurrection of F was awful though.

Satoshi Kon would probably be an excellent source although I have trouble seeing something like Millenium Actress being as good live action. Perhaps the Magnetic Rose section of Memories he wrote? I could see that being flesh out into a very effective horror/thriller/drama, that its a relatively simple story would mean less having to deal with compression of ideas/characters and actually leave more space for adding some new ones.

I have a feeling that the recent Ghost adaptation lifted from it a bit visually for that "crumbling cyber memories" scene....
