Cast and Crew: So far!

I don't think we really know anything about what Payne's script has other than it may have Galactus and SS.

I would think that if Story wants to bring Doom to his true glory, he could work with Payne to include that.

And, personally, I'd rather see Doom brought to full Doomhood treated as a side story anyway setting up the eventual confrontation with the FF.

He'll be too busy building his armor, taking over Latveria, building his castle and creating Doombots to battle the FF, won't he?

He did say that a while back. And I'm assuming he knew there were two competing scripts.
My guess is that we'll see Doom for some amount of time in FF2, probably at the start if it ends up a SS/Galactus film.

Like many, I'm hoping they save Galactus for a cliffhanger and FF3, unless they show the FF becoming more seasoned, experienced superguys.
Here's a suggestion, Fox: Start the film with a 1 to 2-minute montage showing them in battles with various villains. (complete with newspaper headlines floaating by that identifies some of the villains, like "F4 Stomps Mole Man.") It would provide lots of action and lots of FF-type humor, too. Imagine seeing bad guys like the Skrulls, Diablo and Puppet Master for just a few seconds each...Finally, the montage segues into the closing moments of the FF's rematch with a "full" Doom.

Anyway, Payne is obviously a big FF fan. So now we have two fans at the helm. I'm (guardedly) optimistic. :)

Nothing wrong with guarded optimism...:)

Don Payne has been added to the writer's list along with Frost, Lee, and Kirby on IMDB....

In several issues of FF, Tony Stark shows up and helps rebuild the Baxter Building. FF Inc and Stark Industries have a long running business relationship. It wouldn't infringe on any other studios rights if during a Baxter Building upgrade or the construction of the Fantasticar that Reed and Tony were standing around discussing the bill and wearing some hardhats. Hell, Reed never even needs to say his last name. Just have a dark haired good lookin' guy with a moustache that he calls Tony.

Works for me.

p.s. How have y'all been? I'm finally settled in at Chicago and got the internet up and running. :D

Guess that confirms it. Frost, and Payne working together. Very interesting what comes out of this. Speculation ?

That seems possible at this point, but it's also possible that IMDB is just collecting all the published info that has been put out and since we've seen statements, at different times, that attached both of them to the project, that's what IMDB posts.

At this point, I'm just hoping to get a little different take than we got first time around, so I'm looking forward to seeing what we'll get from some fresh talent either taking primary responsibility or doing some revisions.

Isnt the blind girl (Alison?) in it, i heard she has an expanded role

If the silver surfer is in, would they be going ahead with trying to cast keanu reeves, or would they want him for his own movie?

Alicia and yes, but I have a feeling they will be keeping the villains and the people close to them under wraps for awhile...

What's interesting about that is most of us assumed her "Much expanded role" was a pretty clear hint that the Puppetmaster would be in the next one . . .

But the Silver Surfer could likely also lead to a "Much expanded role" for her. Hmmmmmmm. . .

Yea especially if the SS goes after Alecia. And Willie, imbd is never gospel, but ASSUMING it is true, makes for good descussion whether it turns out to be true or not. But from that interview, and now this sounds pretty solid.

This was an interesting rumor I stumbled upon over on the X3 page.

Do you think it is good he is writing the script for F4-2??

Very interesting. A female Superman. Hard to tell from a trailer, but seams to be a good story. Humor, romance. Dialog ok. I think he'd do ok.

I don't know how valid that particular quote is, but evidence that it's going to feature Galactus and Silver Surfer is building.

If it's not going to have them, I hope someone at Fox or Marvel debunks it soon, or they risk having a lot of people who are going to feel let down if they were expecting Galactus and instead get Puppetmaster.

Hey everyone has to start somewhere. He is a 20 minute cartoon writer. And if he is working with Frost, then that's a good thing. I still am not convinced he is capabale of writing a whole FF movie by himself. Doing a Supergirl in love movie is a far cry from FF. Charactors are so intricate, and detailed. Arcs must still be developed, and I dont know if he is it. BUT, after reading his interview, and seeing the trailer, I am more hopeful then before. If you want me to say I was mistaken, forget it, because I'm still not 100 % convinced. Mabey 50 % convinced at this point.

My question is: The very first draft I read. The one that had "Van Damn" owning the Baxter building (with no mention of Latveria) and set up all the major problems such as the organic armor and the Victor/Sue relationship (which was a real, two-way relationship in that first draft. . .

Was that Mark Frost or Michael France? If that was Mark Frost, then I'd like to see just about anybody but him take a shot at the next one, if that was Michael France, then I'm more neutral and would be interested in seeing either Frost or Payne take a shot.

That was Frost. The France draft was one where the FF gained their powers in an accident with nanobots instead of cosmic radiation (but it was still in space), Doom ruled Latveria and had a machine (not 100% sure it was a machine, but i'm sure that Johnny Storm was somehow involved in the way it worked) that created "Hypercanes" (you know, like a hurricane but much powerful). I've heard that this draft was one the best superhero scripts ever written (which could be true, but i haven't read it so i couldn't tell you for sure), and that the only reason he got credit was because he was the 1st writer involved (around 1994-1996 i think).

Yea there were so many hands in that script. This time there's 1, mabey 2.

How do you know there were 6 hands talked about 4 hands shown, and how do you know there aren't as many hands this time??, there are as many writers shown here as there were on the first movie....

All that were ever talked about were Frost, France first movie....Kinberg was talked about....

This movie Frost, Payne....how is that a big difference.....

The biggest difference I see is that Story is with this script from the beginning....he has prove in his past movies that when he is in on the script from its conception the movie is much stronger than when he is brought on at a later date.....hence "Barbershop" vs. "Taxi"....

Who the hell is Don Payne, and what has he ever written ? The Simpson's ? Big whoppie. That's what we need, a TV writer who writes a 20 minute cartoon. He hasn't written a dame story for a movie. Might as well get a monkey to write it. Fox strikes again. Makes my stomach turn. Since The Simpson's is a Fox product, I guess Payne has a picture in his pocket of a Fox executive. Don Payne writing FF 2 ? I nearly craped my pants when I read that.

Writing a story for a 20 minute cartoon, and writing a 2 hour major motion picture are 2 different things. Story was bought on for his charactor development skills. They knew he had no action film experience. I feel he did an excelent job with what he was given. Frost on the other hand I give him a pass on the 1st movie, so many hands we're in that script. Frost has written for movies, and has expierence. I say at this point, giving the movie over to an umproven tv writter is very, very, suspect, and what are Fox's motives. And yes I blame the editing department for what we saw. They cut much of the heart of the film.

Your words, not mine....

Soooo....do you change with the moon?

It's my perogitive to have a change of mind. And I said what I said, it's on the record, and I stick by it right or wroung. And I'm still not 100 % convinced, but feel a bit more at ease.I shoot from the hip. So I don't know what your agenda is. Won't say I was wroung, because opinion is just that. I said who the hell is he, and what's he done latly ? And I stick by that. Now that I have more information, I've softened my stance, but I still stand by my original statement, untill some trailers come forth, then I may change again.
