Cast and Crew: So far!

Yea there were so many hands in that script. This time there's 1, mabey 2.

Yeah, but the problem is I read the first draft and I thought the final version was an improvement. The first draft had very little respect for the source material, and later drafts brought it closer to the source material (while not fixing all of the problems).

Problems with the first, Frost draft:

Von Doom is "Van Damn" - Fixed in later drafts

Victor is a businessman and seems only vaguely scientifically gifted- Not fixed

Victor is the charming lover of Sue Storm - Later drafts made him darker and creepier. It became obvious that they didn't really have a romantic relationship.

There wasn't even a mention of Latveria - fixed with a quick reference.

Victor gets "Organic Powers" rather than building his own armor - not fixed.

Victor owns the baxter building - fixed.

So as a fan of the comics, my biggest problem with Frost was that he didn't have enough respect for the source material. He felt that he had to re-invent the characters. Later drafts brought the story closer to what we know from the comics, but some of the flaws were too broad to fix.

On the other hand, Ben, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Alicia were all recognizable as their comic counterparts, so Frost showed some strength there. One moment I liked was cut out - a scene in which Ben is first transforming and Johnny goes to knock on his door but pauses when he hears the groans thinking he's with a woman and says something like: "You dog, you". But other good scenes (like the mirror scene) were kept.

I think Frost has a talent for writing interesting, fun character interaction, and that was a strength of the first film, but he got too "clever" on the broader elements and some of those things he did to "fix" the comics didn't work IMHO.

I just hope that they told him to stick closer to the source material for any involvement he had on this one.

Victor is scientifically gifted. You don't get into M.I.T. unless you've got some skills.

Yeah, but we didn't saw his skills in the movie.

:o I was accepted to M.I.T. (but didn't attend).

Interesting point.

*Pulls out Frost draft*

Hmmmmm, according to this draft, not only didn't Victor attend MIT, but it looks like he and Reed first met at a conference Victor was sponsoring - put one in the partially fixed column.;)

Attending MIT may have demonstrated that he had some apptitude . . . but it falls far short of hinting that he has even close to Doomlike skills IMO.

How many of this year's graduating class do you think will create time machines?

Vancouver, which is in the same time zone as Los Angeles, has fared better during the recent currency fluctuations as U.S. producers mostly booked space in early spring well before the current run-up in the value of the Canadian dollar.

"In a month or two, when we start getting other (U.S.) projects, we'll see whether they do or don't come," says Peter Mitchell, general manager of the Vancouver Film Studios. His current tenants include the TV series "Battlestar Galactica" and "Eureka" and such movies as "White Noise 2" and "Fantastic Four 2."

It looks like we'll get a new cinematographer and possibly a new editor too.
The first movie's director of photography - Oliver Wood- has signed on to the Bourne Ultimatum which starts filming in July. Editor William Hoy is editing Zack Snyder's 300 which will be released in 2007.

Wow! I couldn't agree more. William Hoy seems to have a VERY impressive resume' and since editing was such a mess on the first film, I'd love to see improvment in that area.

If this is true, I'd say it rates as the best news we've seen so far!

William Hoy edited the first film but something tells me he wasn't completly in control in post production.

:O D'oh! I didn't even catch that. At least now that I've seen his list of films, I feel confident that he has the ability to edit a good film.

I think only thing they have wrong is Bill Boes. The rest of the stuff i posted are all new additions to the crew.

The sources of this information (links are visible) - The British Film Commission, the Union of BC Performers (Actor's Guild) and the Canadian Director's Guild are as official as it gets i think.:)

^ COOL. I am happy that they are doing some changes.

I hope they replace the cinematographer with someone who has done great action movies and the editor (who in my opinion is good) but we can hope some editor comes who has the balls to fight with FOX.

Actually i don't think anyone has a chance against FOX.

Personally i think F4-2 should be just as long (same running time) as X2.

FF was 98 minutes because the cut out about 18 minutes. If they are going to bring SS, and Galactus to the sequel, it would allmost have to be 2 to 2 and a half hours of film time, not counting trailers, and credits as done last time.

'Retroman' tells us production sources (here, here and here) reveal the crew members of the Fantastic Four sequel. They also indicate that Bill Boes has been replaced with Ghost Rider production designer Kirk Petruccelli:

They are set up at the Vancouver Film Studios.

Didn't look back far enough. :O However it is indeed good news. Looks like lots of changes, hopefully for the better, and not just to save money. We all know what tight wads Fox are.

If SS and Galactus are truly part of the film and not just setups for the 3rd film, Fox will have to put as much effort in this film as Sony did with Spiderman 2. The current listed budget is 130 mil, they will have to go close to 200 mil to pull this off.

It's no big deal and yeah it looks like they're getting putting together a good crew. Silver Surfer and Galactus deserve nothing but the best:up:

As far as cast goes i'm curious will Hamish Linklater, Stan Lee and Laurie Holden return?
