The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

I mean, no offense, but I constantly hear, "I don't want it," but nobody says why.

Because the Batman mythos has probably the most extensive and rich gallery of super-villains, and to dimiss them for a new invention would be unreasonable. For example, the comic don't have such a rich variety of love interests... that's why Nolan created Rachel Dawes. But he realized that even for a third rate (almost cameo) villain like a guy who escapes from Arkham, he could use Zsas. And for the mob bosses he needed Falcone or Maroni, even if the Maroni I saw in TDK didn't have much in common with the one of The Long Halloween.

Why go through the trouble of inventing a new villain when there are plenty to pick from, with just some adaptations? Nolan should count all the time with the original material as long as it serves his purposes. With a rogue gallery so rich, I doubt he'll need to look outside.

idk if somebodies suggested this or not but michael emerson as the Penguin, he would be awesome IMO

Here's my list of actors who could play the Joker if he is recasted, and for those who are against a recast I dont need your comments, you've stated your opinions and that's great, to each his own.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Guy Pearce, Paul Bettany, and Vincent Cassel

I'd love to hear some more if anybody has any

:wow: !!!! Everybody considers him for the Riddler, because of the similarity with Ben Linus, but nobody has such advanced outside-the-box thinking like you!

You have been touched by God.

Michael Emerson in any role would be amazing. If he was the Riddler I'd be outside the cinema as soon as that casting decision got announced.

that guy could do both!, and he does look alittle like the guy who played the riddler in the 60's

Let's say this is Nolan's last movie... Maybe the next series of movies will be so much better. This villain could be Nolan's last "signature" he leaves on his take of the Batman franchise. The villain, if good and popular enough, will be around as long as Batman will. Nolan won't be.

I'd consider the idea if I were Nolan... But just as he does with everything else, I'd make damn sure it made sense and there was a reason to stick him in. I'm sure he's at least toyed with the idea.

And just a side-note, Batman's had a number of love interests throughout the years. I've also read somewhere that Rachel Dawes was based loosely off of a character in Year Two (whose name is also Rachel, but she had a different last name). As to the extent of this statement's truth, I don't know for sure, especially since I've never read Year Two. Either way, I'm sure there were plenty of other options from the start.

However, I think Rachel was included to bring in a more "expendable" love interest- one we wouldn't mind getting blown up the way she did in the second movie- in order to advance the story.

That whole plot-device problem women are *****ing at comic writers about (just like Stephanie Brown's death in War Games and Barbara Gordon's assault in The Killing Joke) is exactly the same issue I think Rachel is a victim of. Not that it bothers me, because that was her purpose in TDK, and I think it tied up the movie quite well.

I KNOW RIGHT!!?? i was rewatching lost today and it occurred to me that his character has a lot of personality traits as cobblepot... who says penguin has to be some stubby fat guy with a pointy nose. Why can't penguin be "normal" looking and just have a huge fetish for birds. Even if u hate lost which i can understand, look at his acting abilities

but see most fans will dismiss this unfortunately for their johnny depps or whatever

Oh, that's what your talking about... hmmm, I think I prefer Nolan to do his job and adapt from the source as creatively as possible, instead of adding stuff out of a selfish interest of branding this next film with his... signature. One villain character is not the signature of anyone, especially not of a great director.

Emerson can wear prosthetics and a slight fat suit. It's no big deal.

I'll throw Ben Foster's name on that list.

I think Mickey Rourke being considered/cast as a villain in IM2 has started an interesting trend. I saw JCVD and the thought entered my mind that Van Damme could play a villain in B3. Black Mask maybe?

I think not. "Daredevil" anyone? Let's get a true genious like Malcovich-cant's you just hear the voice behind the mask already?

I've been saying for a year, if they HAVE to put Riddler into it, Norton is the ONLY guy for the part. Barring that, Halle Berry as Riddle-Lady in 2 minute cameo eating a dog.

Slade Wilson/Death Stroke played by Josh Brolin
Have him in a military style uniform, lots of guns.

Genious! Never thought this one, but works perfectly!

Deadshot/Floyd Lawton played by Vincent Cassel and looking a lot like in Gotham Knight.

How bout Bill Paxton, and played like the old suicide comics?

Bane played by Nathan Jones, looks like the Comics.
Nathanpi2-1.jpg

I'd rather see Vin Disel, The Rock or Michael Straithan, but Bane is hard to cast? Who's HUGE and can act? THis guy cant.

Catwoman played by Rhona Mitra. Looking as she did in Hush.

I'm not too familiar with Rhona Mitra. I'd rather have jolie or beckinsale.

Wow, so you turn down his best casting choices based on bad logic (looks and presence in another movie), and then accept a wrestler to play a character in Batman 3?

You must have lost your effin' mind...
