and flickchick-whats wrong with tennant?
I just don't think much of him as an actor. I've seen plenty of Dr. Who (my dad's default channel is SciFi, unfortunately), and he's fine when he has to be campy/cartoony, but I've never seen anything remotely resembling the kind of subtlety this series would require from him. And he was downright horrible in Harry Potter. I don't expect much from the kids in those movies, but the adults are usually great. He stuck out like a sore thumb.

It seems like people are supporting him because of his look and his crazy facial expressions, just like people in the Captain America threads with Jason Lewis, who would be a horrible, horrible Cap...with a perfect look.

A weird guy obsessed with Alice and Wonderland doesn't really work unless you can come up with a reason/method to his madness...

He has an obsession, simple as that. No reason, he just loves Alice in WL.
what if...
at the time of the fear gas attack, in BB, Jervis Tetch while affected with the gas, runs into the park, wheres theres an alice in wonderland, themed statue and he sees all the characters come to life
and believes (even after the fear gas wears off) that he was truly in wonderland

LOL

^Really good casting except I don't think Daniel Day Lewis would ever do a role where his face was covered all most all the time.

You never know, he very well might decide to in the future. Maybe not a batman film but something else.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll try and check those out. :yay:

ETA: I can't seem to find those on IMDB. Are they Dr. Who episodes or something?

I agree. I can see people wanting Kate Beckinsale or Angelina Jolie for Catwoman because of their looks, But tennant for riddler is like picking a name from a hat. I think most people want him because he said he wanted to, and people think 'He looks like the riddler, and he is a good actor' instead of thinking of somebody better.

Both actresses do make sense as Catwoman. They're both very good at playing femme fatales and acting in general.

I would prefer Jolie not take the role, though. Beckinsale would be a better choice.

Okay.................. right now can we officially officially cross out Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie outta the running? To me they're just the obvious choices that are kinda flat and really to big of names to be even close to gettin' into one of Nolan's BatMan movies; that an Depp's booked until 2010-2011 with six movies and Jolie's got enough on her hands with another two movies and handling god knows how many kids. :brucebat:

I disagree. Which kinda was my point. Even if I dont agree with these choices I can see people wanting them.

Complete agreement. I'm not the biggest Dr. Who fan, by any means, but there's a huge drop in quality from Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor to David Tennant in my opinion. One brought a genuine, cinematic star quality to the show. The other doesn't particularly stand apart from the girls that play his assisstants, which isn't really a good thing.

Eccleston, however, I'd be happy with. He's got a great range and while he might normally play more menacing characters I'm positive he could pull off being The Riddler.

keep in mind- careful consideration

My ideas for villians:

Ron Perlman- Killer Croc
Crispin Glover- The Riddler
Giovanni Ribisi- Mad Hatter
Phillip Seymour Hoffman- The Penguin
Scarlett Johanson- Catwoman
Anthony Hopkins- Ventriloquist & Scarface
Adrian Brody (bald)- Mr. Freeze
Angelina Jolie- Poison Ivy

that's what the article said... Nolan wants Cher, I know not to believe everything you read or hear, but C'mon...

That would not be like Nolan to do such a thing as to cast her. I have faith in Nolan and he wouldn't do this to us. Wtf, she's not even an actress.

The Joker: Daniel Day-Lewis (I'd rather see him reappear in a second trilogy which takes place later on in Batman's career)
Penguin: Paul Giamatti
Catwoman: Minnie Driver or Marion Cotillard
Riddler: Hugh Laurie or Ryan Gosling
Hugo Strange: William Hurt
Mr. Freeze: Ed Harris or John Malkovich

I don't necessarily believe there is one definitive actor who could play mob bosses such as Rupert Thorne, Black Mask, Tony Zucco, etc.. I would like to see someone with considerable range take on Black Mask, as he's one of the more complex mob bosses in Gotham City. Geoffrey Rush would be a decent choice, in my opinion, but it really depends on which direction Nolan wants to take the character. If he isn't going to connect Black Mask with Bruce Wayne, then someone like Rush (whose face would be concealed the duration of the film) would be fantastic. But if he's going for someone who is tied to Bruce Wayne, any younger character actor would do just fine (I know I would actually prefer a "hinted" connection, but not something which is a part of the central plot).

Also, while I have listed a few actors I'd like to see in the roles above, there are only two who I think would be definitive in their roles: William Hurt for Hugo Strange, and Paul Giamatti for the Penguin. Both are outstanding character actors who have demonstrated where they can take a wide variety of characters, Giamatti especially.

Mr. Freeze: Ed Harris or John Malkovich

I saw Con-Air for the first time the other day, and thought of this too. I also liked John Cusack's and Steve Buscemi's roles in those movies, and thought either one would be quite easily used as The Riddler.
