The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

god I would love to see Bane, and to be honest he is the only "logical" villain I can see happening in another Nolan film. Nolan could even break Batman's back (or maybe something a little less extreme, but homage to) as a way to bring another crime fighting agent into Gotham...not suggesting Robin of course, but maybe this would be Barbara's excuse....far fetched, I know, just an idea.

define what you mean by logical villian.

Yeah, using a toxin called venom that gives you super strength is defiantly realistic.

Somewhat realistic, I suppose. Rather than a woman that can control plants or a mutated crocodile man.

oh ok. So are you opposed to the idea of "unrealistic characters" or just not for Nolan's movies?

Wow, the term "logical" is apparently a forum word for "hey let's argue" Jesus people, calm down.

The venom that gives you super strength, sounds lame sure, but umm you ever hear of Steroids? Or umm I dunno, that one "unrealistic" drug that a lot of athletes use to hit homers and such. Whatever, man.

I was simply stating that in NOLAN'S "REALISTIC" UNIVERSE, BANE COULD BE LOGICALLY USED.

WOW!!!!!!!!

All realism needs is for something to seem realistic. If you casted Nathan Jones as Bane, for example, who is already damn strong and as big as a house, you could do Bane with very little explanation at all. He already towers over Bale, making him look like the pencil necked geek who sits in the front row of science class by comparison. After that the origin would be unnecessary fluff, and could be completely glossed over as to leave out anything about "advanced radioactive steroids". After that it really wouldn't matter what you did so long as you didn't deviate. Open with a scene of him shooting up, or even just have him say "scientists gave me this body" and really, after that, no further explanation is needed.

Seems fine to me.

I'll admit that my wants for the Batman villains are from how I view the characters not how the mainstream views them. For me its:

The Riddler - a no name

The Penguin - Ian McShane

Mr. Freeze - David Bowie

Clayface - Barry Pepper

The Black Mask - Benicio Del Toro

Talia - Shannyn Sossamon

Catwoman - Rosario Dawson

Poison Ivy - Cate Blanchett

lol I know, I looked over your post again and you seemed to be actually just asking a question, not asking a question but implying "DUMBASS!"

oooh ok lol well i over looked the other dudes post about the syrum that gives you powers. so thats kinda why i thought it was directed toward me.

Interesting choice. And a first. Not bad choices, and although I think Dawson would be a decent Catwoman, she sorta resembles a younger Halle Berry, and I'd hate to see this movie being linked to that Catwoman movie, even if ignorance is to blame.

As for Bullock, I think John Goodman would be ideal.

But can the guy act? I think that's Nolan's #1 criteria in casting. Off the top of my head I can't think of any massive bodybuilder type actors who can truly act beyond a few grunted lines in a throwaway film role.

what if he got Lou Ferigno (sp??) for Bane!

kidding of course.

Thanks man. The thing that sells me on RD is her acting. She's one of the few actresses that could pull off being tough, sexy, fem but still be legit. Some have tried like Jolie but come off looking like idiots.

Eliza Dushku and Naomie Harris come to mind as others but might not be that big name the WB would want.

No, and yet in light of Iron Man, which casted based on personal life experience, I'd say Nathan Jones is perfect. Nathan Jones, by his own admission, was small(er) when he was young (although this is a common claim among wrestlers/bodybuilders). As he grew up he had a troubled youth, being incarcerated at one point in his life, much like the Bane character. Also, much like Bane, he trained himself physically and rose to prominence in the wrestling circuit. He's taken a massive amount of steroids from all reports, and probably understands what it's like to be on them. So while his ability to play a variety of roles comes under question I feel there is no question he could play Bane, whose life his imitates.

Good points.

I still stand by my choice of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. She's beautiful, athletic and she has the acting skills.

And, she was just in "Get Smart", which was a hit film for Warner Bros. this summer.

^^ those choices for Hush and Black Mask puzzle me.Pretty much anyone could play Hush.

I'd like to see this design, if they ever have Catwoman as a villain

Will Smith as Black Mask?

I really thought that it has begun to be understood even by the most casual fans that the character's name does not refer to his race.

Besides, Will Smith doesn't fit the bill on any other level, either.

Haha. Can you imagine Black Mask having Will Smith's voice? Or Black Mask with Will Smith's usual slang: "You don't want none of me, aiight Bats. Take another step and I promise, yo ass is dead."

Batman: Alright Black Mask, its time for me to put to end your reign of terror!
Black Mask: Aw, hell no
