The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

Oooh, Josh Brolin is a great suggestion for Black Mask! I hadn't thought of him. I'd love to see Daniel Day-Lewis play just about anything in this series, but I agree that he's not a great fit for Black Mask. With the character's backstory with the Wayne family, he'd need to be somewhat close to the same age as Bruce, which makes Day-Lewis way too old.

Mark Strong for Black Mask (Revolver, Stardust, Sunshine, RocknRolla)

*Hurm* I could see that; however so far I'm really at tie for either Sean Bean, Joaquin Phoenix, or Daniel Craig for Black Mask. :word:

they are some great suggestions, especially the Rhys Ifans one. oh and welcome to the hype!!!!! :)

thank you!

i was also thinking maybe viggo mortensen for mr. freeze. i believe that man can play any role!

haha yes mortensen is a truly great actor. and damn sienna looks so frickin hot in that pic.

Sienna Miller as Harley Quinn (Dr. Harleen Quinzel)

speaking of Sienna Miller, she resembles Sibi Blazic (Christian Bale's wife) a good deal. this photo of Miller is specially close to what Sibi looks like:

its been tough finding a good leading lady for Bale. most doesnt have any chemistry with him. i'm not saying Miller will definitely light up the screen with Bale, but it certainly doesnt hurt her chances that she resembles the lady that made Bale go on bended knee.

so what about Sienna Miller as Catwoman or Talia? we know she looks great as a brunette, and she's not a bad actress herself.

An actress she need more then looking like Bale's wife to get a role like that in a Batman film.

So do many others.

and she's not a bad actress herself.

Nolan's Batman movies need great actors, not mediocre ones. The man hires some of the best critically acclaimed actors in the world. If he wants Catwoman or Talia he can do better then Miller.

I like these selections, although i'd equally like Indira Varma as Talia too.

just thinking outside the box dude, just as Nolan and crew does. nobody saw the selection of Ledger coming, and for a good long while most people lay doubts on Ledger's ability to deliver a performance as high caliber as a Joker role requires.

oh and you make it sound like Sienna Miller has the acting caliber of Paris Hilton. dude Miller isnt a bad actress at all. in fact she's one of those diamonds in the rough that given the right script and the right director she'll shine oscar gold (like what happened to Charlise Theron). i mean if Nolan can get a decent performance out of Katie Holmes, Sienna Miller can certainly do better.

i know there are a lot of things that needs to go into the selection of whoever Bale's new leading lady will be, whether she will play a significant role (like Catwoman or Talia) or another made up role specifically designed as a love interest (like Rachel Dawes). i'm also trying a different approach to casting: usually i see a role, know what its about and find an actress that fits it, thats my first priority, screen chemistry usually takes second fiddle. now i'm trying it the other way around, since as i mentioned, of all Bale's films that i've seen (and except for one or two animated movies i've seen everything he's done), there's hardly a leading lady that he had good onscreen chemistry with (well maybe except for Kate Beckinsale and Winona Ryder). i'm wondering why that is, so i'm trying to find someone that will light up the screen with him and a clue i'm using is find someone that looks like his wife Sibi. hence Miller.

I'm not a big fan of Sienna Miller, at all. But it's a suggestion which for some reasons intrigues me. I suppose with G.I Joe coming out next year we'd all have a better idea of how she could handle the physical side of the character. To be honest I think it's one of the more realistic suggestions that has been thrown about on the forums.

You're thinking outside the box, but not like Nolan. And do not compare Sienna Miller to Heath Ledger! They have nothing incommon.

I guessed we're screwed then huh?!

Catwoman - Michelle Monaghan
The Riddler - Ben Whishaw
The Penguin - Toby Jones
The Mad Hatter - Andy Serkis
Mr. Freeze - Jason Isaacs
Poison Ivy - Christina Hendricks
Killer Croc - Kevin Grevioux
The Ventriloquist and Scarface - Paul Giamatti
Hugo Strange - Jeno Reno
Talia - Eva Green

chill dude. i was merely using Ledger as a classic example of how us fanboys never consider a certain actor yet said actor surpassed everyone's expectations.

btw i do think outside the box, but i dont claim to know so well what and how Nolan thinks, unlike you it seems.

if you say you are, then you are.

you know i really like the casting of Isaacs as Mr Freeze, i think its perfect. i'm just having a hard time how Mr Freeze existence and motivation can fit in Nolanverse, without having to redo what was already covered in the previous movie franchise (to be fair, they got Freeze's backstory more or less correct). Reno as Hugo Strange is also a good idea, and with the subject of Batman's identity touched upon in TDK, Hugo Strange would be a good follow up villain.

but in the tradition of using The Long Holloween as inspiration, i really liked the villain Holiday. i know its played by characters who in TDK are either dead or doesnt exist, but the real identity of Holiday can be made up by Nolan, the method by which Holiday commits his crimes (kills people on every major holiday) is right up Nolan's alley.

or maybe the villain called Hangman, who also has a similar concept of killing every holiday, but the victims are cops who helped Harvey Dent when he was a DA. that ties in nicely with the groundwork Nolan has already laid out in the first two movies. in Nolan's version it could be cops who helped Harvey Dent and James Gordon, which could culminate with Gordon being the pinnacle on the hit list.

If I'd chill more than Im already doing, I could make a popsicle by pouring orange juice up my ass.
People doubted Ledger because of the most idiotic reasons. Like that he played a gay character. People doubt Miller because, and I think many will agree with me here, she's no Heath Ledger exactly.

The differences between your choice and Nolan's is that you chose an actor, while Nolan chose a great actor.

-Sophie Marceau as Catwoman, if she's used.
-Joaquin Phoenix could virtually play ANY villain, including Penguin, Black Mask, or Riddler.

Yeah, I agreed with you on Joaquin ...I just saw "We Own The Night" and thought he was awesome in it. If I get any time in the next couple of days I'm going to have a go at putting together a manip of Joaquin as The Penguin.

I love "littlerivers" pick of John Malkovich for Mr. Freeze.

I am partial to Hugo Weaving as the Riddler, but I also like James Spader. I also like Kevin Spacey but its too late cause of his Lex in Superman Returns.

As for the Penquin, I like Bob Hoskins if Penquin had an Italian mob look or Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

I like Rhona Mitra as Catwoman. But not sure of her acting ability.

Bane, is Vin Diesel in looks but I doubt Nolan or any other director will touch on his character.

Poison Ivy, should be Charlize Theron.

Its really annoying when people say this. Why do you like her for the role if you doubt her acting skills? This is like saying 'I like apple-pie. But Im not a fan of the taste'.

Good actor. He's got some negatives, though. A very distinctive voice which most people will think of Agent Smith not Riddler when he talks. It's the same with him visually if he wears sunglasses or a suit.

but I also like James Spader. I also like Kevin Spacey but its too late cause of his Lex in Superman Returns.

Agreed.

I like Rhona Mitra as Catwoman. But not sure of her acting ability.

Mitra has the look but she's a mediocre actress not a great one.

Bane, is Vin Diesel in looks but I doubt Nolan or any other director will touch on his character.

This could work well.

Poison Ivy, should be Charlize Theron.

She'd fit many super-heroine or villainess roles. :D

I like these casting decisions A LOT. I'm a huge fan of Rachel as Talia, and I could definitely see John Malkovich as Freeze.

Clive Owen is one of my all-time favorite actors, and I've recently been thinking about how well he would fit into Batman 3... Either as Hush, Black Mask, or even Freeze.

The only problem I could see with Malkovich is he wouldn't do it. He's distanced himself from comic book adaptions before. It's unlikely Nolan would adapt Freeze but the only way I'd see Malkovich play him if he were to be used was if TDK changed his mind a little. Having said that, it would be awesome. I'd prefer to see him as Lex Luthor were he to ever appear in a comic book/superhero movie though.

I like James Spader a lot, and I could see him doing The Riddler. If you've ever seen him in Boston Legal, he almost embodies The Riddler already.

As for the Penquin, I like Bob Hoskins if Penquin had an Italian mob look or Phillip Seymour Hoffman. I'd like to see that.

I like Rhona Mitra as Catwoman. But not sure of her acting ability. I agree with The Major. Why? If you don't like someone's acting ability, WHY CAST?

Bane, is Vin Diesel in looks but I doubt Nolan or any other director will touch on his character.
No... Never. Vin Deisel is a horrible actor.

Poison Ivy, should be Charlize Theron. This would be another good choice too, I think.
