The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

James Woods for the Penguin? What? no, why would he even be an option for that character.

Yea you must be confusing James Woods for somebody else. Looks isn't everything, but that is just too far.

yeah, james woods is a great actor but I always picture the penguin as like 5'5 and overweight.

Because he's such a charismatic actor. Certainly a left-field choice but I think he would be great for the role.

I am sad that Joaquim Phoenix is retiring from acting without having played a bat villain, any bat villain really.

what pheonix is retiring wtf hes so dam good!
and now that you mention it for some reason thinking o him playing a batbaddy i get an image of hush, which i think he could pull off

Yeah, good idea. He is (was ?:csad:) so good he could have pulled off any bat villain imo, even the ones he didn't necessarly ressembled, better a great actor than a lookalike.

yeah andi agree completly did heathlook likr the joker? did liam neeson look like ras.. okay he did, but the piont is actoers can vsuall be moddified if nesassary, benecio de toro had a prosthetic chim for playing jack reafferty in sin city and even thugh it looks real so did mickey rourke(spelling?) so yeah better actor or lookalike?

pst, lookalikes cant nescassarilay act

Good examples. Also Daniel Craig is Bond even though he doesn't look like the usual interpretation of the character and looks more like one of Bond's russian nemesis but it works because he is a great actor. Maybe Michael Keaton in B89 started it all:woot:, he sure was better than that footbal player who looked just like Flash Gordon.

yeah heah does any one got the issue of wizard magazine that cast craig as deatstroke thoughts, i like the idea

I would actually like to see Deathstroke on the big screen...he's Batman's equal as far as fighting skills go.

yeah and this is a casting thread so who for deathstroke

i just realized he is death
stroke get it a stroke , its bad for ya iknow that.

For Deathstroke....Ron Perlman. He did his voice in the Teen Titans animated series, and did a wonderful job. Ron's majorly talented, and is very underappreciated in Hollywood. He's great for character acting, as most of his roles are character roles. Hellboy for example.

yeah i totally i agree, and for killer moth my choice, and i very serious thomas haden church he voiced killermoth for tt, and i agree for craig as deathstroke though i have no doubt perlman could do it like ...making coffee i dont know were that came from i was going for something alonf the lines of "in his sleep" but was trying to be original.

Yea Ron Pearlman for Deathstroke would be pretty sweet. Pearlman is a bad ass.

no pearlman is beyond bad ass hes ... i got nothin

The messiah?

after how cool Sons of Anarchy turned out, I'll say it . . .

i wasnt tthinking that far but pretty close, the jr messiah?

Okay, I know this is a really strange, left-field casting choice, but I thought it was quite interesting, so I decided to share it.

In another thread, I was discussing how cool I thought the interpretation of Croc was in this week's "Joker" hardcover comic. For those of you who haven't read it, Azzarello and Bermejo take Croc back to his roots, and portray him as an African-American man with a scale-like skin condition, as seen here:

Now, the counterpoint made in that thread was that we've already seen a few big muscular black men show up as henchmen and heavies already, with the poster citing Tiny Lister from the barge scene in "The Dark Knight". Fair enough. Well, perhaps we could alter Croc's character slightly, in order to fit the role to a different calibre of actor?

Here's my idea. Keep the idea of Croc being a savage criminal who saws his teeth down to points, and who is implied to be a cannibal, like in the "Joker" book. But instead of just being muscle, perhaps promote him to the role of gang leader? Sacrifice some of his muscle and replace them with a little bit more brains and gravitas. Who is it I'm thinking of to play this altered vision of Croc?

Forest Whitaker:

While he's not quite the muscleman we'd normally associate with Croc in these casting discussion, Forest Whitaker can be a very physically imposing presence when the role requires it. Plus, he's a phenomenal actor, and could really bring some gravitas to the ensemble for any Batfilm he was a part of.

Problem is Croc, as a character, is a waste of Whitaker's talent.

Unfortunately, you could be right. It would take some serious beefing up of the character for the film, to the point where it might not even be recognisable as Croc, and might as well be someone else.

I guess it's just the Forest Whitaker fanboy in me who wants to find a way to get him in these films. A while back I suggested him for Harvey Bullock. :oldrazz:

Heh, that too, would be a waste of his talent. I don't really think there's any role that would suit him. Not off the top of my head anyway.

*Hurm* Hell yes to african-american Croc, but no to Whitaker; unless you expect Killer Croc to be an Oscar worthy character. :hehe:
