The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

I think Winstone is a very good idea....he actually looks like a formidable foe, which suits the Penguin. Like Eva Green for Catwoman, but not Moss. I don't think she can be sultry enough.

I just really really reallllly want to see The Mad Hatter in a film. However, I cannot really think of a good candidate. I love almost every casting suggestion on this page. Since I don't feel like wading through all 115 pages of this thread, anyone have some believable Mad Hatter suggestions?
Steve Buscemi.
Timothy Spall.
Paul Giamatti.
Ben Foster.
Thomas Schiff.

Dear God: Foster, and Buscemi are excellent ideas.

And as for Schiff.....WIN.

Indeed; however IMO I really just don't see Mad Hatter working in Nolan's world. I'd rather see a few other villians before we jump on that character. *Hurm* I'm still up for either Black Mask, Bane, Riddler, Catwoman, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Hugo Strange, Talia Al Ghul, and so on and so forth. :word:

I respectfully disagree....while I like those villains very much, I would not like to see many on screen. The only one I dislike is Killer Croc. I think to see him in a Nolan Bat film would be ridiculous. I've never seen a version of the character that has any interesting motive or driving force. I think the same goes for Bane.

On the other hand, the Mad Hatter's motives and mindset are all very psychologically oriented. I can see him working in a Nolan film though many cannot.

Again man, not crapping all over your post. Just trying to stimulate discussion :)

Well, it depends on how he would approach the character; thing is Croc isn't really a motive driven character because he's not too bright in the head, or at least after a couple of stages of mutations. However he did have a motive of stealing money and holding captives for ransome in order to be cured of his rare disease in the Hush series; which to me is more than enough for a personal vendetta to stage good characterization for a Nolan film. It could easily be used and have him be treated like a henchman or simply a pawn like Scarecrow or Falcone like in BB.

As for Bane, he's literally quite the opposite of Croc; he does have motives and actually has many advantages that makes him one of the greatest villians in Batman's rogue's gallery. And after B&R, he really hasn't recieved the credit us fans deserve and more importantly himself in the comics. After all he's actually one of the villians that has defeated the Batman not only breaking his back, but his spirit as well; no villian has really ever gotten that close with the exception of the Joker murdering Gordon's wife and Jason Todd along with crippling Oracle. :brucebat:

And no problem at all my good friend; it's just how you present yourself in a discussion and excute behavior wise. In this case you're doing a fine job and find it to be quite stimulating. :yay:

Steve Buscemi.
Ben Foster.

I like those two picks but I am still gunning for Andy Serkis. Give him frizzy hair and buckteeth and he looks like Jervis from "BTAS." I really would love to see him as Mad Hatter. After all, he was in "The Prestige" and is good at playing looney or wicked.

Very good explanation and I thank you for that. While I am not completely adversed when it comes to Batman in the comics, I have to admit I only know what is universally known. It's nice to be on these boards, because half of what I know is derived from them.

I think almost any villain can be executed well if enough time and effort is put into accomplishing that. We will see...

Deadshot I think had his "shot" (pun intended) in the "Gotham Knight" DTV. I do however think Killer Croc is plausible thanks to the new "Joker" graphic-novel imagining him as a brutish, African-American musclebound heavy to Joker with a skin-disease.

But I agree it's time Black Mask, Talia Al Ghul, and Hugo Strange least get a mention or a nod to. Riddler, Bane, Catwoman, and Penguin all need to come back to the silverscreen. I'd love to see Ventriloquist or Firefly as a starter villain for the beginning ten minutes of the movie. I think it'd show how creepy and deeply disturbed the city has gotten and it'd show that the Freaks have taken over, the mob is in a dire and perilous uphill battle to retain their city, and the police department who've sworn to hunt down and arrest Batman now have to turn to him to him because they are powerless.

I really don't want to see Mad Hatter in these movies at all. However, I think Andy Serkis would be a phenomenal Riddler. The guy's an insanely good actor, and he's a very familiar face, yet still not exactly as widely known as someone like Johnny Depp (since the "We-hate-the-popular-yet-still-highly-talented-guys" bandwagon has been running rampant as of late). Also, he seems like he would be the same unexpected casting pick just like Heath Ledger was... At least to me.

And after Heavenly Sword and Lord of the Rings, can you imagine the type of stuff Andy would be capable of? Imagine the Viral Marketing campaign with a guy like Serkis.

I don't see him as Riddler but if he did get picked I could see him with the motion-capturing work he's done, I could see him pulling off holographic images and or pixelized representations of himself to throw off the cops like "BTAS" did.

Why? What choices do you have on your behalf my good sir?

lol srry nothing personal

imo neither of those woman have the sex appeal to be Catwoman...now dont somebody come around and call me shallow because Catwoman is suppose to be hot as hell and IMO those women arent

idk about you Penguin cast suggestion work so i cant really judge him. But from the looks of him he just doesnt say penguin to me

Indeed; when I was a beginner here I was kinda lost in the world of comics myself. I caught on though and you shall too very soon. :yay:

At the moment, it's hard to say what route Nolan will take if he does another Batman; I think it's obvious however that since BatMan's being hunted now and Joker has set a new breed of criminals, I think it'd be appropiate that some of the more popular villians like Black Mask and Riddler to start making their marks to take over Gotham city, meanwhile in a struggle being Batman he doesn't realize the new woman he's falling for is Catwoman, a thief in the night who not only catches the eye of Bruce Wayne, but as well as his alter ego Batman. :word: :brucebat:

I think Andy Serkis is a great shout, I mentioned him a while back for Riddler or Mad Hatter.

As for Black Mask I like either Josh Brolin or Jason Isaacs, but I suppose Isaacs is at his most intimidating when you can see his steeley glare so maybe a mask for him is out of the question.

Fair enough; however I won't have any other choice but to skin you alive if you want Jolie for Selina. Nothing gets to me more than unrealistic fan favorites like her and Depp as Riddler. :brucebat:

But really? *Hurm* He's always looked like a Nolan like Penguin to me; got fed up with everyone votin' for Hoskins and Hoffman, so I figured he's a very decent curve ball choice. :word:

Is Blackman saying that he has never heard of Ray Winstone? The guy is a frickin legend!!! He's my top boy, seen him up West Ham a few times. But i'm not sure about him for Penguin though.

Ray Winstone is the man (he was so good in sexy beast). I could see him as the Penguin. Brendan Gleeson would be awesome too. Anyway, I like the idea of having a more physically menacing penguin.
Like Gandolfini, suggested by Blackman.

i've seen him in a couple movies now that i realize it but i nvr knew his name

and i dont mind Depp as riddler hes cool imo
but Jolie doesnt seem like Catwoman to me either

Yea Gandolfini is a interesting choice, going the more threatening route with Penguin could work. What about Tom Sizemore aswell? He's one of my favourite actors and could play a mob boss/trafficker Penguin.

 Sizemore is a great idea too. Like I said I like the concept of a more physically threatening penguin. Hell, even Michael Chiklis would work better for me than just a little difformed penguin/man. (even though I also liked Burton's take on the character).

Serkis would be a very interesting Riddler; if he couldn't do that I'd be more than delighted to see him anywhere in Nolan's Batman movies.

Kinda bummed that Phoenix is gonna be retiring, so I guess he's off the pole; so far my ideal actors for Black Mask are Sean Bean, Viggo Mortensen, and Daniel Craig. :brucebat:

lol i hated Burton's take on the character...in fact i hated Batman Returns in general. Hopefully if nolan does Penguin he is not some flipper having, raw fish eating abomination

Viggo could play anything. Even an older TDKR kind of Joker. As for Serkis, I liked Gollum better than Smeagol, he might be a better synthespian than actor, but still an interesting choice nonetheless.

imo Viggo Mortensen and Sean Bean are too old but damn like if Viggo was 15 years younger he would be a terrific black mask
Michael C Hall for the win
