The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

He was crap a villain when he played the Editor in Doctor Who

catwoman was not black in year one she just had extremely short, dark hair, which gave her a kind of grace jones vibe

*shakes head* Dude..........

As far as Riddler goes, I still support David Tennant and Guy Pierce for the role; other possible choices I hold with some reguard would be a little bit more less known actors such as Hugh Dancy, Ben Whishaw, and Justin Bartha.

interesting choices, like the latter 2

WAIT! Who?
I know, they won't have to worry about recasts or budget, she did one of the overly dramatic Tyler Perry movies so I think she could handle a dramatic or complex Catwoman

Interesting choices. Brittany looks like she was born to play Harley in that picture, if Harley was in it, I would definitely go for her. Not sure about Depp for Joker though or Brody as Riddler.

I always thought so about Britney, especially after I saw her in Lil Black Book, not Oscar winning acting, but her breakdown made her look a lil zany yet she was likeable but Sin City definetly convinced me she was meant for the role

it wouldn't be a huge twist the Catwoman in Batman year one was black and we all can't forget Eartha Kitt.
I don't read the comics, but the pic kinda reminded me of Eartha that's why I mentioned it, it'd be a twist for me, as by the looks of the thread most have speculated that if she should appear she'd look more like her comicbook counterpart

You're right Kid dropper (that name is pretty messed up), she wasn't but she kind of looked like it

And she could do a good job, but is the world ready for an interracial batman/catwoman relationship

I have to agree with your choice for Riddler Elgato I think he would do a pretty good job, and there were some pretty god choices on the past page, except I would disagree with Pegg, even though he's awesome.

ah you see my name like kid dropper like i drop kids or something , no, im a bit of crime historian, Nathan "Kid Dropper" Kaplan, was a lower east side labor slugger back in the teens, I always liked the nickname, there were a lot of guys back then called "Kid" something or other, in both the underworld and boxing, he was good at "dropping" folks i guess. Now i know to some the worship of murderous criminals may sound like its own layer of ****ed up, but ive always regarded the old timey hoodlums with something more like fascination than idolization, to me their personalities and exploits existed in a world so distant to my own, i regard them merely as colorful characters in good fiction, you could say dutch schultz, al capone= joker and two face as far as im concerned.

Al Pacino as the Penguin. Short, intimidating, has already done some good work with Nolan and knows gangster.

I think Al Pacino's too big for this franchise. He is the acting equivilent of blowing up a hospital - he's that big a force on screen. It would be a Nicholson all over again. The acting needs to be good, yes, but supporting roles are still supporting roles.

The character of Al Pacino is larger than the Penguin.

Good point. I just think he is due for another great role (it's been a while now) and that Nolan could provide that for him. But I agree with you.

I'd love to see Nolan work with him again.

It'd be cool were Nolan to do a film between TDK and the sequel (ala Prestige) for them to work together on something.

Something mind-blowing and crazy ASS!

I kinda feel sorry for the poor guy after Righteous Kill

yeh i sure wish deniro and pacino would take up reading scripts before they sign again. That righteous kill garbage was abominable, i seen bad episodes of law and order that were preferable in every aspect

^^QFT. I hope they redeem themselves soon because they are great actors and they haven't been in any good movies in a long long time.
They both seriously need a Nolan or a Fincher, hell I'll settle for a Proyas, in their near future.

I don't care how good the character is written, Penguin will never be "great", and the role is certainly not the type to put Pacino back on the map.

I think DeNiro is in greater need than Pacino. His recent roles have been deliberate self-mockery.

There should be a charity for wayward actors in need of good direction.

How can one hate a character so much that even if he is written greatly, he can still not attain greatness in their eyes? a classic villain like penguin , no doubt. I am not the biggest fan of harley, but when she is written well and serves the story effectively, who am i to argue with her inclusion?

true, I though about that, but in this day and age you never know... they weren't ready for a blonde bond, but he received probably the most praise of all the Bonds to date... and interracial couples are popping up every so often-most recently, Will and Charlize in Hancock-It'd probably end up like that, with Bats and Cats not ending up with each other in the end...

plus the spike in "gay marriage", and more largely the recent president-elect, he's interracial and I think America is becoming more accepting and open to what isn't the norm-though there's still a long way to go

By "great", I mean to the extent that the character allows. Which at best, with Penguin, would be a threatening mob boss. Of the classic villains, he is by far the least interesting. I don't even know how people can start to deny this. He is essentially a mobster with deformed features. I'm not even sure if he's ever been majorly involved in a single great story. The character, as he is written, just doesn't have the ability to attain that level of prominence.

Harley's infinitely better than Penguin in both backstory and characterization.

i think harley's backstory is striking, but it shouldve ended there, she should have been killed off by joker in the comic universe. she is annoying and pathetic, i mean "puddin"? come on. The joker should not have a constant accomplice, end of story. The whole catty "Gotham Girls " dynamic she takes part in is extremely irksome as well.
On the subject of Penguin, true he hasnt to date been a major player in a great modern story, but neither has Harley aside from the brilliant one shot 'Mad Love" which truly is a milestone, though it takes place in dc animated continuity. If you dare call the tripe that is Hush a great story then i wish to discontinue our dialogue right now.

The obsession is the brilliance of her existence. Now sure, certain interpretations dull down the outright tragedy of her life, but it's potential is great. A straight-arrow psychiatrist twisted slowly and surely into acute madness and love, is one of the most devious acts Joker has committed. If you just consider what Harleen could have been without his presence, she would have probably helped many patients and perhaps rehabilitated them. Instead, she herself is the one that needs saving. Even worse, she lives for the Joker.

I don't know if you've actually seen or interacted with a victim of Stockholm syndrome (I had the "pleasure" of seeing one a couple years back), but Harley's position is along the same lines. It truly is sad and heartbreaking to see these terrible people mangle others' psyche. At the same time, it's a truly fascinating sight to behold.

And that's my point. If he was so great, or had the potential to be, he surely would have been in one. Considering how long he's been in the medium, I think most fans realize this character falls very short.

I won't mention Hush simply because Harley was hardly any significant figure in that story. Mad Love is most definitely the quintessential Harley story, as it presents the entire dynamic between Joker and her. It was written beautifully. Showcases exactly where Harley fits in the mythos and isn't just some throwaway side-character who's played for laughs. There's depth there that even more popular villains don't reach.
