The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

^ Sure. And yet, on top of all those qualities, he IS a very interesting character.

Definitely want Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin but a less rediculous version than Danny DeVito's.

The Penguin is the only character which the popular suggestions not only aren't terrible, but actually great. Dont know why. Maybe because all the actors in the Penguin size are serious dramatic actors, and has never been in a blockbuster or in a current popular tv-show.

^ ... Poison Ivy????

"There's just something about him"?? Great rationale, sound argument ;)

I know. that was sorta my point. for some reason I could never get in to the penguin, but I could get into like every other character. even the stereotypically comic booky characters. I'm tryin to like him, but some how he just seems the leest interesting. but that's prolly cuz i haven't read 1 of his better stories or what ever.

I mean, I'm likin ur guys suggestions for the penguin. but every time I hear him mentioned I just picture the adam west days, and the movie. (altho I do like his voice actor in btas)

VERY interesting? In what way? The only interpretation I've really liked on the character, is Burton's. At the very least Oswald was given some depth and emotional weight. Enough for me to care about him, anyway.

Can't say the "traditional" take has really had any sort of effect on me.

Ya so far the penguin seems either bland or just plain goofy. but I think if they put him in these movies theyed do a good job of making him cool. so to me it don't matter if hes in or out.

No. Nolan wouldn't make any kind of use of his metahuman nature. Slade without regenerative abilities, super-reflexes and the like would just be David Caine.

Yea I suppose, I would like to see Deathstroke in future Bat films though. Maybe if they reboot it again a few years down the line they'll go for a more hyper stylized twist rather than the hyper real way.

Bob Hoskins as The Penguin all the way!

I'm okay with Hoskins; right now though I'm still rootin' for Winstone to be Cobblepot. :word:

*Hurm* So guys, what do you all think about Temuera Morrison or David Wenham for Deadshot?

Not a fan of Deadshot, really. He wears an interesting costume, and he is an astonishing marksman, but he seems like a good henchman for a more interesting villain, really.

agree.

Yea I wouldn't want him as the main antagonist. He could maybe be brought in by whoever the main villain is to take Batman out. Then maybe a twist could be that it was Riddler all along who hired him to see how good Batman really is. Could be interesting if Deadshot gets caught and is interrogated by Fed Riddler not knowing that he is the guy who hired him.

Totally agree on that; that's why I think he should be sort of a pawn like character for hire. No bigger role that Carmine had in BB really; perhaps he could work for the mafia like in GK or possibly Black Mask? Since Batsy's being hunted now, I figured an throwing in an assassin would make the story go into deeper depth. :word:

I'd love to see Michael Keaton in some kind of villian role for the next Batman.

I think the Riddler would be great! If not maybe a head mobster role, though the mob thing would feel tiresome in the third film.

Well, Boba Fett is the mysterious silent type, while Deadshot is the tediously "wiseguy" pseudo-macho type.

lets stay with the roster of unique superfreaks. badass elite mercenary assassins are being covered in every other bland generic action franchise out there, let them stay there.

I'd luv to see Deadshot as a member of Suicide Squad led by Amanda Waller.

What about Deathstroke? I know an indestructable cyborg ninja wouldn't fit into Nolans Bat-verse but I put forward an idea for him in the Interpretations thread. The reason I like Deathstroke is because he is one of a few Bat-rogues who can actually hand Batman his ass physically.
