The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

"Plus, is there really any need to have an actor of Javier Bardem's calibre for Bane? He'd be wearing a mask most of the time, wouldn't he?"-Hooded Justice

so, the piont is to select an actor who could pull the character off, regardless of mask, tobey maguire originaly wasnt gonna be in the spidey siut, then they did a screen test or some thing and the got his measurements
with bardem it would be no different, he is an actor of great caliber and a mask cant screw that up, bales in a mask when hes batman , does that make his caliber of actor any less signifacant?

Hooded Justice just proved- yet again- that he doesn't know jack.

Add one more poster to that list.

You're saying this as if I don't know it already. I know we don't NEED big-name actor actor to get a big performance, I just think what his movie needs to match that kind of hype is a big-name actor.

I may be wrong, I may be right. I'm inputting my two cents as someone who has a bit of experience in the theatrical world.

well i still think hiring the right actor is alot more important than hiring big names. I don't exactly want them to cast will smith as a replacement joker, if you know what I mean.

and does any1 else think that angalina jolie as catwoman wouldn't fit in w/ the rest of the cast? I mean, it be as awkward on screen as katie holmes was in bb.

i guess she'd be a good catwoman, she just wouldn't fit in w/ the established world.

well he does do that weird voice. and he does weird things with his mouth, which i assume is to compensate for the rest of his face being covered.

but other than that u have some good points:yay:

Did you not read my other posts?

I said exactly the same thing you just did. And I feel that Pacino is the right actor as well as the perfect big-name actor to do exactly as I said: Propel the hype of the next movie into TDK's level.

Read up on my posts before you start trying to tell me what I apparently haven't said.

I know it's kind of cliche' and all but John Malkovich as the Riddler! ! ! ! I'm all over it. He's the only one that seems perfect for that role.

I think if someones face is going to be covered up the majority of the time that means they'll need to be a very good actor. It is a real challenge to convey emotions and feelings without ever showing your face.

Ever hear of make-up and prosthetics? It's working wonders these days.

Besides, Pacino is one of the greatest actors of our time. He CAN pull off The Penguin, and I would GUARANTEE you that if he were given the role (and I don't make guarantees).

Also, you've got to keep in mind, the character isn't going to be what's in your, nor anyone else's on these boards. It's going to be what's in Nolan's and Goyer's heads.

I'm starting a new campaign. PACINO FOR PENGUIN!

How about Dustin Hoffman? I think he could pull off the Penguin also.
I'm still on the Bob Hoskins band wagon though. :woot:

I would be happy with either Pacino or Hoffman as Penguin, both great actors.

i still say pacino would take you out of the movie. no 1 would see the penguin, only the actor playing him. so he's not the right choice imo. they need some1 whom you can believe is the penguin as soon as, and every time you see him. w/ a big name like pacino i don't think that would happen. we need some1 who can get lost in the role like heath ledger did w/ the joker. or some1 who already has the skills to play the character like eckhart w/ harvy dent. bottom line i just can't picture pacino playing some1 like the penguin believably. thats my opinion, anyway.

hoffmen, whould be awesome. but phillip, and not dustin. (dustin would be ok 2 though)

I'm trying to imagine his penguin as a cross between him MI:3 character and capote (or however you spell his name)

PSH said he was gonna play The Penguin as a real penguin.

I think PSH is pretty much out of the running, if he was even there in the first place. From the sound of his reaction to the rumors, doesn't seem like he's too excited about it.

I'm still a firm supporter of Guy Pearce for Riddler.

Never thought of it, but I think Dustin Hoffman would be an alright fit. Part of me says yes, part of me doesn't know how well he would fit into Nolan's universe, though.

Good call.

So....you want Al Pacino to bring back his Big Boy Caprice for Penguin? I mean, his legacy is already fading, do we really need to put an umbrella with a knife in the guys hands and tell him to do his patented throaty chortle for two hours?

i agree with scatterax(damn it hard to type with a sprained thumb!) characters who have the skill or almost become the character are what we need, not that bruce would hit his mom or anything=), somone on the day they were born god said"he will become "insert villain name here"
this is what happened with heath, or at least as far as iam concerned

Is that what I said?

Just curious, because I don't think I stuttered. Hell, I don't think I even HINTED at him bringing back an old character.

I have an idea of an original new villain who would fit perfectly into the next movie.
Tom Selleck as "The Mustasch"

what do you say people?

lolz. He does have quite a mustache doesn't he? What would be his M.O though? Crimes related to facial hair?

maybe he could have an obsession with animal furs. that way you could fit in catwoman by having Selleck wanting to shave her. hmmm, i think this would probably be an R-rated movie though

catwoman: omg, its "the mustasch"

Mustasch: yes fool, it is i the mustasch and i am here to shave you and use the hair as a beard.....what are you waiting for little girl? spread them?

MOVIETITLE: The Dark And Tight

Al Pacino as the Penguin? god no.

There are only two choices:

Paul Giamatti and Bob Hoskins
