The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

Yea but see, having your face covered makes it harder to act IMO. Think about it, you have to convey emotion and feelings without anyone ever seeing your face. You need a credible actor in the role, not just a wrestler.

Voice inflection and body language are easilt acceptable especially for someone like Bane who tends to be very stone faced in the first place.

You wouldn't have to. Bane's mask completely covers his face. When Spider-man or Darth Vader speak in the movies no one complains about who is under the mask. Spider-man is not Tobey in every shot of him speaking. A lot of it is him, but some is Tobey dubbed over a stunt man....and it's seamless.

I prefer to actually see the man behind the mask, at least once in a while.

it is? i knew about vader but spidey? and i think that an actor under the mask is better, its tobey undr the spider's mask most of the time, i just think that they should get an actor who can deal with the mask and make a great performance.

It's not all about getting an actor who can deal with the mask and still deliver a great performance, (ex: Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin) the obstacle is the size of the character. Bane is a 6'8" 400 pound hulk. Not many actors have remotely that size and can act the part. That's why people want the dubbing. Have an actor like Nathan Jones who can provide the physical performance, body language, etc, and then dub a more talented actor with a spanish accent to dub the lines. It could easily be done...if Brad Pitt can be mad into an 80 year old man, Gollum could be brought to life and interact with the characters of Middle Earth, etc than this could be done, too. It worked with Abe Sapien in Hellboy, Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Darth Vader in Star Wars, etc.

And as far as wanting to see Bane's face? No. We don't see Bane's face. It's supposed to be a mystery. We shouldn't know who he is.

..

Since when?
Can you show me the comic panel that we've seen Bane's face? Not in flashbacks when he was a child in prison, but as a grown man? I know that Bruce Timm showed his face at the end of the episode "Bane" in Batman: The Animated Series, and that Schumacher even gave him a face and a name (Antonia Diego) in Batman & Robin, but I don't think that in the comics we've ever seen his face as an adult.

I'm fairly confident that we haven't and I feel that, that is how it should remain if he is included in the films. Keep him with a bit of mystery. We can know where he is from, that he was an inmate who underwent hellish experiments, and that he is a mercenary from South America, etc...but we don't need a name...a face. That makes him more of a man, and less of a monster/threat. His story, if a main villain could be told through his dialogue or flashbacks of his time in prison as a little boy. I don't mind sympathizing with him- but I don't want to see the pain of Bane's past in his eyes...

Secret Six shows his face all the time, but Im pretty sure they have before hand too.

In the Knightfall arc you see Bane's face quite regulary. When he is alone with his goons talking about Batman. I haven't got any pics on my Laptop though, but you do definitely see his face a lot.

I never remembered seeing his face in the comics. But I haven't read anything with the Secret Six, and I haven't read "Knightfall" since the 90's. But I guess I stand corrected. Still, as a personal preference I'd rather not see his face, or hear any name assigned to him.

ERM WHAT DO YOU THINK ?

Ving Rhames is a frickin bad ass. He would be perfect for Croc. But no Hush, no Hush EVER in a Batman film. He has gotta be one of the most pathetic villains in comic history. He has had some interesting story-lines recently, but that can't make up for his origin and motives to be a villain.

Hush would work if you adapted him for the film
