Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

oh, cool!

I thought the sequel was just going to be the 3DS game..........but I'm glad to hear that's just the spin-off.

I think the 3DS game looks a bit more traditional Castlevania. I want both... But I'm more excited for the 3DS version.

So... Trevor and Alucard.. I wonder if they're going to end up being one in the same...?

I'm playing the demo of Symphony of the Night right now. I'm assuming you play as Alucard throughout most of the game?

This game has fantastic sound effects, by the way.

You play as Alucard for the entire game but the very beginning, which tells what happened when Richter, from the Belmont clan, mysteriously disappeared on the night he faced Dracula. You'll relive this moment, then the main story begins.

Yeah, that part is in the trial. Which is a little bit of a bummer because I think that blue dude is way cooler than Alucard from the small portion I played.

Also, is Lords of Shadow a complete reboot of the series?

Oh, don't worry. Initially, I thought that too, but you'll get a lot of cool powers for Alucard, transformations, weapons and allies. Also, there is a way to play as Richter after you finish the game. From Gamespot:
Beat the game once with one of the proper endings. i.e. make sure that you've gone through the second castle.

If you've done that, then you need to create a save file named "RICHTER" in order to start the game as him. Once that file is saved, you can change the name to whatever you want in the menu.
As for LoS being a reboot, I think it is. Alucard's story goes on a completely different way in the original canon but, apparently, he'll be in LoS2. Unless they find a way to link this with the original canon, then I guess it's really a reboot.

I don't want to blow anyone's mind or anything, but Symphony of the Night is pretty effing good you guys.

Last thing I did was I went through a giant keyhole and found a shortcut. Before that I was in an area with a bunch of giant floating skulls. I don't think I was supposed to be there yet because they killed me pretty quickly.

My favorite subweapon so far is the throwing knives. They don't use up a lot of hearts, they have great range, and do a decent amount of damage. Especially if you spam them. I'm using the bible right now though, it seems okay too.

I have a few questions. The first is do you ever get a sweet whip like Richter's? That thing was awesome. And second, how do you use relics? I got a thing that's supposed to turn me into a wolf I think, but I don't know how to activate it. What's the deal with the fog? And finally, what does it mean when Alucard glows blue?

You get the whip when you play as Richter. I believe its just the press of a button, left bumper on xbox I believe to turn into the wolf, bat and mist. The mist goes through grates

And you'll get upgrades later to remain in your transformation for a much longer period of time.

just played the old school version on gameboy. Looking forward to this one though. The game audio has greatly improved over the years!

I still have yet to play the LoS DLC... I need to do that but...I really want them to drop the price first, lol. Also, is it weird that I like the game better now that I realized that Robert Carlyle, the voice of Gabe/Dracula is Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin on Once Upon A Time?

Just beat down Castlevania Chronicles. It's a pretty taxing game - I had to change from Original mode to Arrange mode about halfway through, as the damage taken is halved. I really liked it, despite not being the Metroidvania brilliance of Symphony of the Night. Also not being able to jump when walking on stairs is painful.

Up next is Circle of the Moon. I'm going to work my way through the GBA and DS games in order or release now, and as some point stop for the PS2 games and Wii Virtual Console releases.
