I like how in that EW interviews she says the one thing that sold her on the role was being able to destroy the iconic Mjolnir.

Marvel: Hey Cate, wanna play the first female Big Bad in the MCU?
Cate: I'm not sure...
Marvel: It's a really juicy role and you'll get to ham it up all over the place and wear a badass costume.
Cate: Eh.
Marvel: In your first scene you'll get to destroy the hero's most iconic weapon that no one else in the entire franchise (except an android) can even lift.
Cate: SOLD.

:woot:

Ok...but what about just a few? Maybe in some spin offs?

I may have sounded like i was over exaggerating but yeah...Maybe not in the same amount of films that Loki has appeared in but maybe hopefully just a few would be suffice. For me. :)

I understand where you're coming from (Cate would be in pretty much everything if I had my way :cwink:) but I wouldn't want them to throw the character into future films just for the sake of it even though it makes no narrative sense for her to be there. And like I say, I highly doubt Cate would sign up for multiple films and a longterm commitment anyway. IW and Avengers 4 is different because even if she is in those films, I doubt she'd have significant amounts of filming to do. Being the object of Thanos' desire and obsession is a key role narratively, but doesn't necessarily require huge amounts of screen time.

If she appeared in just IW and A4 after Ragnarok I think I'd be more than happy. If she didn't want to to do the role ever again that would be fine.

If it calls for her character to be in it, thats fine as long as it makes sense and Cate doesn't take much Thunder from the main actors lol. I don't see her committing to multiple films in the long run in the future. It really depends on how long will the MCU could go on for. Not every actor/actress who are really into portraying their respective roles can't play them forever. I get that. I'll be be fine if she popped up in a few features here and there kinda like Loki in a way. Maybe eventually team up with Amora, the Enchantress.

Yep. It does seem like Cate had an absolute blast playing Hela though which is good, it certainly looks like she's enjoying herself from her scenes in the trailer. :woot: Cate makes so many emotionally heavy films, it must be great every now and then to cut loose a little and have fun hamming it up in a role like Hela.

Yes I think it could be a nice change for her.

Hela's face of "disgust" and "annoyance".

I love what Chris Hemsworth had to say about working with Cate in the article that HD posted in the main thread:

HE PLAYS the musclebound God of Thunder, all powerful and afraid of nothing.

But, it looks like Chris Hemsworth met his match on the Gold Coast set of the third instalment of the Marvel franchise, Thor: Ragnarok.

The Aussie star has admitted to being "wildly intimidated" about going toe to toe with Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, who plays "goddess of death" Hela in the new movie, out in October.

Blanchett is near unrecognisable in the movie and worked with Hemsworth's personal trainer Luke Zocchi to get in killer shape to embody the badass villain.

But despite being unnerved by the calibre of the acting chops he was going up against, Hemsworth said he found Blanchett to be a down-to-earth professional.

"It was wildly intimidating but she is one of my favourite people on the planet," Hemsworth told news.com.au at Comic Con in San Diego at the weekend.

"It's nice to meet your heroes and it be as good as you'd hoped.

"She's just incredibly wonderful and generous and fun and that was one of the best experiences.

"She has the same sort of attitude that I like to think I follow, which is just to kind of turn up, do the work, have fun, treat everyone with respect, get on with it.

"There's no sort of garbage with it. With someone at that level you'd sometimes expect it to come with problems — but, no, she's just fantastic.

"It’s the Australian way."

The movie's director, New Zealander Taika Waititi, said both Hemsworth and Blanchett gave it their all in the fight scenes.

"It's like two meerkats fighting over a cobra's carcass. You know, it's cute but the nails are out," he told news.com.au.

2 meerkats fighting over a cobra's carcass! Love that analogy lol.

Reason why i love Chris so much, aside from Cate. He is just as down to earth like she is. Its thunderiously helatastic!!

More than 10 years older? Dude, try more than 20 years older. Margot was around 23/24 when she filmed SS, Cate was 47 when she filmed Ragnarok.

Yeah strange thing to understate when they're trying to emphasise it.

Cate Blanchett is actually 21 years older than Margot Robbie. So whoever did that could have done way better. CB is like a fine wine.

YES. I've been waiting for news on this forever! :woot: Now all they need to do is cast Oscar Isaac as Desi Arnaz already.

Amazon Studios Boards ‘Lucy And Desi’; Aaron Sorkin Scripting, Cate Blanchett To Play Lucille Ball

EXCLUSIVE: Amazon Studios has acquired Lucy and Desi, the Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama from Escape Artists that has Cate Blanchett attached to star as TV’s pioneering star Lucille Ball. The project has been percolating a couple years. Escape Artists Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will produce. I’m told that there is already movement toward finding a big star to play Ball’s former husband Desi Arnaz, with names like Javier Bardem in the mix, as well as for Fred and Ethel, the quartet behind one of TV’s classic early sitcoms. The subjects’ children, Lucie Luckinbill and Desi Arnaz Jr are all involved in the authorized telling of the tempestuous love/business relationship between Arnaz and Ball, whose production company launched such series as Star Trek. The rights package empowers the use of memoirs written by both Ball and Arnaz, rights their children have controlled since their parents died.

Margot Robbie (especially as Harley) doesn't do it for me. Now, Cate as Hela... yum.

The look of Hela in the Japanese poster is one of the best we have seen yet. She looks perfect. We can see the headpiece and kind of helmet "covering" most of here face in black... it's such a cool design.

Same here. Margot is crazy gorgeous but Cate is my ultimate celebrity crush and she has been for years. And Cate as Hela... she can destroy me any time she damn pleases. :hmr:

Right? I'm so impressed with the headdress, they've really done justice to Kirby's iconic design.

She certainly looks amazing. I think that's the reason why the Japanese poster looks so good, because the characters look so good in themselves. Other than that it's a pretty generic poster and not at all as interesting in composition as the main poster.

You can't pick a better actress to play Hela no matter how hard you tried.

I find it interesting that Hela has such a huge presence on the Japanese poster, she's taking up nearly as much space as all the other characters put together, I can't remember an MCU villain ever having that much focus on a poster before, other than Thanos on that early IW poster that was released at comic con. I don't know whether it's just because Cate is really big in Japan (I know she has quite a fanbase there) or what, but it's interesting.

Preach.

Love this, Hela and Thanos by comic book artist Sergio Davila:

I don't know if this is art actually being used in an upcoming book, but Jason Aaron did say we're going to see lots more of Thanos and Hela getting up to no good together in the future. It makes me hopeful that this is a relationship we'll see carry over to the MCU.
