Cate talked briefly about Ragnarok in a new interview with Rhapsody Magazine:

You just finished filming Thor: Ragnarok in Australia. Was that a good experience?

I really haven't made a film for quite a while, so this was the icebreaker. I can't tell you - it was so much fun. All of us, my entire family, had an absolute ball.

I read your eldest son was worried about your career and suggested that you do a blockbuster.

Yeah, and I took his advice! [Laughs] I try to take his advice. I keep thinking everything's bound to be big. Carol will be a blockbuster! [Laughs]

And your son Iggy had a cameo in Thor?

Nooooo! He didn't have a cameo! Basically there was a big scene with a lot of extras, and every single person had a relative who worked on the crew or was in the cast. And he really wanted to be an extra. My thing is, if you can see the waiting around and the length of time you have to spend in hair and makeup, then maybe that will disabuse him. I'm always telling them the least glamorous side of being an actor - because they have a desire to do it.

She also said that working with Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo has given her major brownie points with her kids.

Pictures from the photoshoot, just because:

She was really great in Carol.

That's kind of the basic interview she's given already...almost a month ago when she mentioned her son made a planet on set and it's in the film

I know, but what else can she really say at this point? The entire cast and crew will be sworn to secrecy so as not to leak any plot details, e.t.c. I like that she seemed to have such a great time filming Ragnarok though.

It's always a great sign for the movie when the actors have fun making it.

She's really great in just about anything.

Truer words have never been spoken. I'm currently (re-)watching my way through her filmography and it never ceases to amaze me what an insanely diverse actress she is. Her talent has no limits.

She's one of the best actors working today, male or female.

Damn straight.

Those of you in and around the New York area who are fans of this amazing actor, she's currently in the midst of her Broadway debut in Anton Chekov's 'Platonov' (retitled as 'The Present') at the Ethel Barrymore Theater until February and it's getting absolutely rave reviews. Go catch it if you can. I would, but I'm an ocean and over 3000 miles away from New York...

Hela spam, just because.

"In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

'All-powerful', 'ruthless'... oh yes. :chd:

I like that we finally have confirmation that Hela is the Big Bad of this movie. Now to continue the painful, seemingly neverending wait to see our first glimpse of Cate in costume...

I wonder if she'll wear the comic costume.

I wonder if she'll wear the comic costume.

There was a glimpse of Cate as Hela shown at Comic Con last July (whether it was concept art or Cate actually in costume I've never been sure), but reports say her costume is comics accurate. Green and black catsuit, green cape and headdress. Whether she wears that the entire movie is anyone's guess, but it seems we'll definitely see Hela's traditional costume at some point.

Hela will definitely use her green costume with the giant headpiece. Images from the set have already leaked with her using a dark green suit and the headpiece was also shown in the promo art. You can actually have a pretty good idea of how it is going to look by the first image released.

Man the hype!!! Hela/Cate Blanchett will just be the best villain.

It will be very interesting to see if HELA will be Thanos' love interest in "Infinity War" instead of Mistress Death.

That would probably be more up Marvel's street than just having some skeleton in a purple robe.

You know, I'm pretty sure that the 'Hela is Mistress Death in the MCU' rumour originally came from the exact same source (Geek.Com I think) as the 'Hela destroys Mjolnir and banishes Thor from Asgard' rumour which has just been given some serious weight by the official synopsis.

Interesting...

I am also wondering if Loki will take up Mephisto's or Doctor Doom's roles from "The Infinite Gauntlet"-storyline in "Infinity War"?

(but wrong thread for that discussion)

Even if this proves true, I'm willing to bet they will include at least an easter egg reference to her ( that is, Death's ) comic appearance. Maybe something along the lines of "when she powers up to her full might in a contest of cosmic power, her human visage burns away leaving robe-like flows of energy around a skeleton". That kind of thing.

From what we've heard so far, Hela has a lot of potential as a villainess in this film. What we know of the story seems to give her a lot of space to be an interesting character and a menacing threat.

I am also wondering if Loki will take up Mephisto's or Doctor Doom's roles from "The Infinite Gauntlet"-storyline in "Infinity War"?

Yes, this could be true, and I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel decided to utilize Loki this way in the Infinity War story. He would fit pretty well into either Doctor Doom's role or Mephisto's role from the comic storyline, especially Doom's role.

If Loki ends up filling Doctor Doom's role in Infinity War, another villain might possibly fill Mephisto's role. Possibly Mordo or Dormammu.

I don't want them to do that to Dr Doom and usurp his role. Save it for when Marvel actually get him back. I don't want them to take everything good about Doom and give it to Loki and Hela and all Thor villains.

The MCU is sorely missing Doom, who should be the greatest villain of all, not some anti-social blogger hacker or a plastic surgeon who likes to play blind swimming pool games.

Unless they do another movie where Thanos tries to assemble the infinity gauntlet there's really no point.

Exactly. The first part of Infinity War is being released next year, it starts shooting soon (if it hasn't already), the script will have been finalised. Unless Marvel magically manage to get the rights back to Doom right around now, there's no way he could ever appear in IW. Even if they did manage to get the rights to him back, I wouldn't want his first MCU appearance to be in a rushed rewrite of IW, the general audience doesn't know who he is so have no connection to him like they do with an already established and popular MCU character like Loki.

Doctor Doom deserves better than that, if Marvel ever manage to get him into the MCU it should be as a big overarching villain that is built up gradually like Thanos.

Anway, back to Hela. I agree with metaphysician, if she does end up playing Death's role in IW, there definitely needs to be some subtle nods to the original Mistress Death costume wise or something like that. Maybe 'Mistress Death' is a powered up version of Hela that manifests itself when she wields the soul stone or something crazy like that.
