Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther! - Part 5

So now, more than ever, I feel confident that Black Panther *is* happening, and they are just waiting until after Age of Ultron drops to announce it.

Andy Serkis from the AoU trailer is the *spitting image* of Panther's nemesis, Ulysses Klaw.

I'm beginning to wonder if Marvel has decided to postpone both BP and Capt. Marvel until Phase 4, after Avengers 3 finishes the run for RDJ, Hemsworth, and Evans.

After seeing Andy Serkis in the Age of Ultron Trailer, I wouldn't be so sure that BP isn't happening.

Really? I'm sure it will happen but I'm not any more sure now that it will be made soon than I was before I watched the trailer

I think A2 is setting up a BP movie. Fingers crossed.

IF the resemblance of Andy Serkis' character to Klaw isn't just a coincidence, then yes...it may not be long before we see T'Challa:

If Serkis isn't Klaw that is a cruel trick to play Marvel a cruel trick.

Post-credit scene BP confronting Klaw. You wouldn't even need to have cast T'Challa if he is in costume

Dont Get your hopes up
Dont Get your hopes up
Dont get your hopes up

dammit..He looks so much like Klaw!

I agree; if he's not Klaw then its a bloody awful trick on Marvels part. He's got to be Klaw, surely?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but even the shirt Serkis is wearing screams Klaw!

So I'm sold on serkis being Klaw, and it all makes sense now.
Ultron+vibranium=wakanda Wakanda+Klaw= Black Panther movie. Its gotta be happening now.

Also... doesn't Klaw kind of become a CGI creature, which is, among other things, right up Serkis' alley? They're making it really hard for me to be pessimistic on this one.

Still, they probably won't announce it until Comic Con 2015 if it's a Phase 3 film.

I'm going to stay a hater until I'm actually sitting in the theater watching a Black Panther movie, and even then I'd stay a hater because they won't have the scene where BP knocks out Mephisto with one punch. I'll hate all night long, Marvel! :cmad:

Why do you feel the need to be a pessamist?

Well, there's a lot of emotional investment there, as the vindication of black leads in action movies is kind of a big thing for me, and T'Challa is one of my favorite characters. So the disappointments from rumors and suspicions and hopes in the past were very frustrating. That's not something I want to go through again. Better not to get my hopes up.

Further, the idea that all of a sudden a Hollywood made black led international blockbuster movie will now burst on the scene no problem, from the guys who said they didn't know how to do Wakanda and that BP is too similar to Cap in persona... that sounds a wee bit too good to be true. Those things, afaik, haven't gone away.

It'd be different if a BP film was the inescapable conclusion of Klaw being in AoU, but for all we know, that and T'Challa himself could just factor into Cap 3 or Avengers 3. So a little pessimism seems to be in order, because for me "well, he'll get a solo in Phase 4" is kind of a heartbreaker.

Yeah, we've definitely had that discussion, but whether I think it can be done easily and whether Marvel Studios thinks it can be done easily are two different things. And when I say "done" I mean as a heroic setting like Asgard or Stark Industries, not as a resource scene like it may indeed be in AoU.

Not to mention that they could just use Black Panther like they used to use secondary characters on Marvel vs. Capcom. He'd just pop in for a scene, throw Captain America his new shield, and then flip out of scene never to be heard again. :o

What you said is why I don't want to get my hopes up too high. Knowing Hollywood's history when it comes to these things is easy enough to make a man skeptical. We could still get a BP movie, but they'd remove many of the great characters in the comics because they don't want the movie to be "too black" like with what happened to Spawn.

Nevertheless, if that's Klaw then cool. I have always liked hating Klaw. He's a good villain that could look great on screen. Even if it's not tying into Black Panther I hope he is portrayed well if Serkis is really him.

DrCosmic you do know Kevin Feige said Black Panther is 100% in development and it is matter of when and not if it gets made.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of those unnamed movie slots is for Black Panther.

Yeah, the comment didn't really mean much to me because things we "plan to do eventually" may never happen, and moreover belies a lack of priority, especially in combination with the fact that BP is only even mentioned by MS when someone directly asks about him, especially when this lack of priority and not knowing where to fit him in comes hand in hand with a vibranium armored enemy.

This is not to say they don't mean while, or that a BP movie *can't* happen in Phase III, but a quote where Kevin Feige says 'someday' indicates it's not an immediate project at that particular time.

I empathize with your cautious pessimism, but I feel pretty confident that Black Panther is happening in Phase 3. Between the Ultron/vibranium stuff, the rumor of Cap forming a new team at the end of AoU, that one interview with Chadwick "Worst Poker-Face Ever" Boseman, and now, Andy Serkis sporting a look that would have him immediately pegged as a really good Ulysses Klaw cosplayer at Comic Con, I feel like this is definitely in development right now, and they're just keeping it under wraps for Ultron-related spoiler reasons.

I gotta admit he does seem to be fixed up like Klaw. He could also be Kang, or Baron Mordo, especially with the announcement of Strange in 2016. My money is on Klaw. Serkis does great work action for CGI characters. It's also nice to see the man get some live action work. I really hope he's Klaw.

God I hope Boseman isn't BP. I like the guy as an actor but he just doesn't fit BP to me. I'd like Boyega or however you spell it to be BP over Boseman, or maybe Laz Alonso. All three guys are good actors though.

Upon seeing Serkis, the fact that he could be Klaw didn't occur to me. However, seeing all these pictures...he certainly looks like he could be.

Also, depending on how you do the post transformation Klaw thing, it might be a good idea to have someone experienced in Mo-Cap.

I hope it's true. I'm desperately waiting for a Black Panther movie.

Chris Evans didn't fit Cap for a lot of people. Similarly, Boseman seems like one of those picks that would grow on people.
