Yeah, that was really weird. Its not like the scene really gave anything away, though in one of the TV spots you hear him saying, "You were part of a bigger plan," so I don't know what to make of it.

The Lizard was decent, but not as good as he could have been if they kept his family. Venom, on the other hand, was a complete misfire. I'd take The Lizard in TASM over Venom in SM 3 any day of the week.

I would take neither.

The Lizard's lack of character development is the main thing holding this movie back IMO. If he was done right, this would have been a very solid movie. I suppose he suffered from being in an origin film since the first hour or so focused on Peter Parker's transformation into Spider-Man.

Sorry if that came off as insulting (not my intent), but I guess I found it more than a little amusing that one could think that only this one little thing was holding the film back from greatness, when, as far as I can see, there were a great many things holding it back.

I mentioned that the Lizard was a major flaw, also insinuating that there were other minor flaws as well holding the movie from being GREAT. Still love the movie for other various reasons, but that was my biggest complaint.

I agree the way Peter dated Gwen by having dinner with her family as a first date was horrendous and the final swing was awful and unnesseaary.

I don't know if Peter going to Gwen's house was really the "first date," and I LOVED the final swing. You might as well say the one in SM1 was unnecessary as well.

The Lizard looked fine. The snout would have made the Lizard talking and emoting look stupid, I was fine with removing it.

Yeah, the Lizard's plan makes no sense. Never mind that its a corrupted version of Connor's original goal before the transformation, clearly they didn't think this out. Did some people even watch the movie, because they seem to miss some obvious stuff?
