The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Chanes of this beating SM2 Quality wise?

Could this really potentially top SM2?

  • Yes, this has a good chance of doing so.

  • Not sure

  • No, I don't think this film has a chance of de-throning SM2

The Lizard at least looked similar to his first appearance in 616. The Green Goblin looked the way he looked...just because.

So my argument about subjectivity is a cop out that shows how ignorant, foolish and uninformed I am. Vid is officially back on my ignore list.

lol. It's about as valid as a thread titled "Chanes(sp?) of TASM2 being worse than SM2 Quality wise?"

Let's see how that goes over.

Something like this doesn't even need it's own thread. Should have been a discussion in the general TASM2 thread.

Sorry Vid, this is what happens when you use your iPod

I promise I can spell chances.

Twilight comparisons are just f***ing stupid

SM1 was in high school too. Also just because it's in high school it doesn't equal twilight.

Also, Even Ultimate Spider-Man came out before twilight so if anything twilight copied Spider-Man.

I just don't see how Spider-Man compares to Twilight. The strength of TASM was the romance, but Twilight didn't invent relationships with supernatural beings.

From what I understand, the Twilight comparisons started when Andrew Garfield was cast because of his hair.

I would have watched twilight if Andrew was in the cast at least one person could act.

they wanted to make it look believable that the lizard could talk which is why they didn't give him a long snout, if you watch him talk you can see what they were going for

as for SM1 well thats an interesting one given they were originally going to go for the comic book look then they abandoned it then went for go go power goblin

Well the fact that you are posting here shows you must care somewhat. If you don't like the topic, post somewhere else. Otherwise STAY ON TOPIC.

Did you not see my post to you? I respond to certain people and certain posts. How you interpret that is up to you.

@Vid Electricz Yep. Hence the humanoid facial features and lack of snout.

Connors' mutation became more and more Lizard-like as time passed.

Yes, both the comic and movie Lizard are green with scales and a tail. Just like the comic and movie Goblin are guys dressed in green with scary masks, who ride gliders and throw pumpkin bombs.

The 616 Ditko Lizard didn't have many humanoid facial features at all. Not a pronounced snout, but a snout nonetheless. Large ridged eyebrows and he was very lithe (not huge and muscular), and always adorned in human clothes.

So, like the Goblin, they updated the character to work in a contemporary, quasi-realistic setting. There are similarities and differences abound for both if you're willing to see them.

This movie is going to be a HUGE hit or miss. I can already tell.

I think TASM2 could still fall inbetween. It COULD end up being just 'okay.'

You're thinking of Romita Sr.'s Lizard. Ditko's Lizard had no snout.

He does wear the labcoat; just not throughout the whole film. Though I do agree with you that he should have worn it throughout the whole film.

Better image showing his humanoid features:

I'm not saying the Lizard looks exactly the same as Ditko's Lizard. However, he is still 100 times closer compared to the Green Goblin. Also, part of the problem with the Green Goblin was also the fact that he looked stupid, not just that he looked different. It was a pointless and stupidly unnecessary thing to do. Now I'm not saying the Lizard was the most fantastic-looking villain on the big screen but I'll still take his look over...that :

'Just okay' wouldn't do TASM2 and the TASM series any favors. TASM1 was an okay movie and look at the mixed response the film got here. The thing is, most people will always compare the TASM movies to Raimi's movies. And the best way to satisfy people is for the upcoming Spidey movies to top the best Raimi Spidey movies.

I don't get how TASM was mixed. Not even remotely close, was not as well revived as say Iron Man, The Avengers or The Dark Knight but it was still very popular. There was a significant amount that did not like it but that doesn't make a film mixed.

If Iron Man, TDK, BB, TDKR,TA, First Class and X2 are the most well received I think TASM is somewhere in the level below, along with MOS or IM3.

Well I thought TASM was a lot more than just 'okay.' Also, Spider-Man 3 is the film with generally mixed reviews, not TASM. It has mostly positive reviews, but I feel that no matter how great the film turned out, the movie still would have been trashed just for being a quick reboot.

TASM2 has a job to do... make the GA go crazy over Spider-Man again, and most importantly blow all of us away. :word:

It only seems mixed when you go on certain website and forums but the fact is a majority of people liked it. It has a 73% on RT and 77% of audiences liked it. if you go on certain sites even Nolan's batman trilogy seems to have mixed reviews, doesn't change the fact that people liked it.

If you didn't count the reviews criticizing TASM for being "the same movie over again" or "this movie was unnecessary," then the film's online ratings would be much higher. I'm sure it would have about 80% positive or more on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now people can judge TASM2 on its own merits. Hopefully.

The movements with the Goblin were fine, especially on the glider. They did their homework on the physics. Looked fluid and balanced, that was one of my favorite aspects of the character.

Ummm...Green Goblin did look like a Power Ranger.

He really didn't. Maybe a VR Trooper...? Power Rangers wore spandex.

My complaint with the Lizard wouldn't be about the goomba thing, but more about the fact that he was... a naked green man with a tail. I wouldn't necessarily hold that against the movie, because if the story had been better, it wouldn't be the kind of thing I would have let bother me... but it's a damn shame that they removed the "transformed man with a curse" by doing away with his labcoat and clothes 90% of the time. That's what makes both werewolves and the Hulk cool, the Jekyll and Hyde aspect. I guess they were just a little too proud of the skin details and all that stuff, and they wanted to show it off. Bad idea.
