Changing you

twylight said:
I don't even know how to react to that since I've never had that issue.
Most of the guys I know, are well aware of what they need to change about themselves.

That's why I made the food-in-teeth comparison...sometimes they don't know what they need to change.

When I was younger, my dad had these sweatpants he liked to wear around the house because they were very comfortable... but when he started wearing them outside the house, to the mall and such, us kids told him to stop doing that because we didn't want our dad looking like a dork.
He didn't realize that he looked bad and so he stopped wearing them outside the house.

I agree with you and understand what you're saying but PyroChamber has already made the distinction, if you push the change without them wanting to change, they youi are doing it for selfish reasons, because they have already told you that they don't want to change. Once it goes past them accepting your suggestions and wanting to change, then it becomes purely selfish.

meh... it depends on the situation.

If you truly loved the person you'd stand by their decision, after they made it.

Not if it's a stupid decision. A true friend will always tell you when you're doing something stupid. If my girlfriend started smoking, I definitely wouldn't ever stand by her decision...and I would be doing that completely out of love.

Also, why hasn't anyone asked the obvious question here... what is Pyro not telling us.

Smoking is hardly comparable to cutting hair...you can't make that leap.

When you meet anyone there always kinda a clash on points of view.

My gf always marveled at my standards for friends because I would always go out of my way for them. After we started dating, I think subconciously "my standards" caused her to reevaluate some of her friends especially the ones that f'ed her over a few times.

I think it's natural for not necessarily change but growth as person because of a relationship.

Edit: Although, I haven't cut my hair really short because she also doesn't like it. But I don't care one way or another.

Also, I don't think it's that big of a deal if a girl wants to change the way her bf dresses. It's almost common especially if he dresses like a slob.

Well, I wouldn't stand by my girlfriend's decision to wear Uggs either...if she ever wanted to.

:dry:hump

My GF smokes and I quit in January and I told her I didn't have a problem with it so long as she's not harming me, I told her if we decide to have kids or whatever, then she's going to stop.

yes. and i ended up alon without any friends when we broke up.
change on someone elses terms never ends well.:csad:
now them changing because you say, totally different scenario.:o
i mean, girls just know what's best!

Well i had a relationship when i was 15 and he wanted to change me without telling me directly, just that he would buy me clothes and expect me to wear them etc and spend hundreds on these clothes that i hated!!
Also with my hair, he would always comment on how i should have my hair etc.... to the point where you feel like you should have your hair how thy want!

Prob me being weak minded etc! OH well hahaha!!! :)

lucky!!

just don't change for whoever you're with.
it's never worth it.
you just wind up with a wardrobe you don't feel comfortable in, hair that makes you look like a crazy person, and a cd case full of music that makes your ears bleed.

There's a difference between your girlfriend buying you new clothes that aren't exactly what you'd wear all the time and mixing them in your closet, and her burning all your clothes except what she buys you.

There's a difference between her asking you to come with her shopping and her bringing you along to every demasculinating errand she wants to do just because she knows she'll give you hell if you say no.

There's a difference between "Honey, you go do whatever with your friends, I'll be hanging out with Megan and Rebecca" and "Wayne and JD are idiots. I don't want you hanging around with them anymore."

There's a difference betweem someone worth your time, and a ***** looking out for number one.

do you have any idea how much money i've SPENT ON THOSE!?!
i hope that has never acutally happened to you.

Oh, god, no. If that DID, she's be wearing a wig for a long time to come. Especially since it's kinda hard to find stuff that fits just right because of my leg.

good man. no one should EVER touch the wardrobe.
i was just telling someone else however how a guy i dated in high school actually had the nerve to demand i go home and change because of what i was wearing.
hilarious.

Oh, I know I've got serious wardrobe issues. The best way to descibe my style of dress is "grunge" because I always wear dark clothing, except maybe my t-shirts [I've got an orange one I love], and it's always ratty and torn, and some of it is downright ugly [like this shirt I have that's button up and has the worst looking flames on it you could ever imagine. Oh, and skater shoes, and sometimes a flannel shirt [I try to avoid hoodies usually]. In high school, everyone said I looked like Kurdt Cobain. Now, I look like I ATE him. :csad:

Obviously, if the occasion calls for it, I dress better-those are just my comfort clothes. But I don't let them mess with my clothes, and I won't cut my hair.

i assumed, thus the Emo Spidey.:woot:

Actually the EmoSpidey was a plug for a couple of friends and their webcomic. I tend to do that usually. If I know someone doing a webcomic, I tend to ****e it out. I did it with Boy Genius, I did it with CC, and I did it with a few others, like Blando! and Quarter Four.
