Oh yeah, let's have magic mike as Gambit and maybe we can get Shaq to play Bishop and Gilbert Gottfried to play Deadpool.

I don't like Channing as Gambit. He doesn't look anything like him and i'm not a fan of his acting skills. He's an ok actor at best.

Channing Tatum will put asses in the seats! This movie will be huge Nightcrawler/Gambit this is gonna be even better than DOFP. X-Men are back!

I think he could be a box-office draw to the film which is good. I think Channing Tatum will be fine as Gambit as long as material they give to him is good.

He will put butts in the seats seems to be the main reason they want him. Frankly i think he would be miscast he is an ok actor to me, dosent say Gambit to me.

I think Channing will be fine. People have this idea about him, but he isn't a bad actor. If you watch some more of his smaller, indie films you see his actually quite talented. I think he will be great. It's a win win really. He seems to really love the comics and character and Fox get him in a contract. Big :)

I dont have an "idea" about him i go off of what movies i have seen him in. Has he come a long way yes is he an ok actor yes. I think he is good with comedy roles though, idk how talented I would say he is. Its a win win it seems just because people find him sexy not that they think he is right for the role.

He's an okay actor at best. And this is a superhero movie, are people actually expecting him to deliver an Oscar winning performance? No right.

As long as they give him
-a good supporting role
-a look that is truly inspired from the comics
-bad-ass action scenes

I think he will be fine.

I know what you mean. I wasn't referring to you just generally people hate him for some reason lol.

That's the problem right there. Yes this is a superhero movie but you still need good actors to portray the characters that millions of people know and love.

Gambit is a paradox, which written and portrayed right, could be as popular as Wolverine. He's charming yet ruthless, calculating yet impulsive, arrogant yet self loathing, charismatic yet a loner etc. But hey, who cares right? It's only a superhero movie, no need for acting chops.

Channing Tatum not gonna give an Oscar performance, because he's Channing Tatum and superhero movies never win Oscars, except for maybe special effects or wardrobe. But i would still prefer an actor who can actually play the part instead of just another Hollywood prettyboy who sort of maybe looks like Gambit sometimes.

This a million times, I agree completely with you.

It seems like this guy actually really likes Gambit as a character though, he wants to do the accent and everything. I dunno, maybe this'll be the one thing he's actually good at?

I liked the previous actor, the problem was in the movie, not his performance as Gambit

I liked him too. But with a new Gambit, Origins can officially be considered non-canon.

Channing Tatum is charming and attractive, which makes him a good Gambit. And on top of that he likes the character and is enthusiastic. He's also a funny guy, which is important since Gambit has a sense of humour. Honestly though, Gambit is a fun character, but doesn't exactly require a nuanced or skilled performance.

I agree and im not saying he isnt I just didnt think of him as Gambit, hes just one of the hot go to guys at the moment. I assume they want someone to take the mantle from Wolverine.

But the Wolverine actors didn't change at all, i don't think you need to change this just to prove Origins is non-canon

He'd be a step up from Kitsch, and he'd bring people to the theater. It's a win win.

I actually don't see how this, if it were to happen, would be much different than Chris Evans as Cap.

With Jackman nearing the end of his run as Wolverine, FOX needs stars that can attract audiences to the X-Men series and be spun off into solo films. Signing Tatum and resigning Lawrence to lucrative multi-picture deals would be a very wise move.
