Deadpool & Wolverine Channing Tatum is Gambit

I don't lie when I say I want to see more of him and a part of me wishes he manages to get his Gambit movie off the ground due to all the positive reaction. Or at least another appearance in Secret Wars.

They are certainly pushing him for more it seems.

Ryan Reynolds is both pushing for a Gambit film and a Blade film with Wesley. This would have been easier if this is the old Fox, post Deadpool & Wolverine movie. But good luck to him, convincing Marvel Studios to do those films.

Marvel Studios already have plans for a Blade reboot with another actor. Even if they cancel that film, they aren't going to replace it with a Blade "send off" movie featuring Wesley. The send off idea isn't a good idea long term. Disney would want another Marvel franchise in the long run, not a 1 off Marvel movie.

And Gambit... who knows what Feige's plan for Gambit and the X-Men. But its certainly more wiser just to feature Gambit with the X-Men first, than a Gambit solo film, especially there were already two decades from the Fox era that Gambit wasn't seen with the actual X-Men team. Gambit is first and foremost, a member of the X-Men.

Tatum was fun in D&W but he’s not a very strong actor, and him leading a Gambit film isn’t exactly getting me excited. I think it’s cool to think about in theory, and better in an ensemble X-Men, but I can’t imagine him giving the role any dramatic weight to lead a solo film.

I think they should stop making Gambit a "solo superhero". Because he really isn't.

Though that being said, if Fox knew what they were doing, that movie would have been out before the Fox buyout was finalized. They had 3 directors that quit the movie... The movie had major problems before Fox was being sold to Disney. Channing Tatum appearing in this movie was a good incentive for him and for those who were waiting on that Gambit movie. But long term, Marvel Studios should move on with someone else and Gambit needs to be in the X-Men. He's neither a Deadpool nor a Wolverine to be headlining a solo movie. We didn't even get a Hawkeye movie.

A Gambit & Rogue movie I always thought was the way to go, introduce two mutants at the same time, a rom-com style CBM that hasnt really been done before, establish a couple of mutants before X-Men gets into full swing, similar to the way Avengers was put together.

But who knows what the mutant plan is now with Disney/Feige in charge, at least D&W has shown the desire when done well is still there with fans.

I see a Gambit & Rogue movie struggling at the box office. The thing about the X-Men is they are made up of members who are first and foremost destined to be with the team, the X-Men. These Mutants aren't Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor, those four which you can take them out of the Avengers and still do well with their solo movies. The only exception is the Wolverine because he's the most popular. Deadpool never joined the X-Men, so he's not in the same category as Cyclops, Jean, Rogue and Gambit.

I confess that I was pretty ambivalent about the whole Gambit solo movie. I've enjoyed Tatum over the years, but I had pretty much accepted that his rendition of the character would wind up on the large pile of awesome X-Men characters, stories, and ideas that weren't likely to get their due in live action anytime soon.

But wow, seeing him in the full comic-accurate outfit with the accent and all the signature movies just having the time of his life really brought home what we missed out on. Gambit should've been all up in these movies, and it always should've been Tatum.

He is associated with the character since X3.

Post-X3, I think if the goal was to make more X-Men team movies set in the present, we could have seen Gambit a lot more. Gambit was in Origins Wolverine, I think Channing was unavailable for that film and they never really followed up Gambit's movie appearance, until the Gambit film was greenlit? He wasn't needed in First Class, The Wolverine and Days of Future Past as well. So that limited Gambit's chances in the movies.

I think if they just prioritized having Gambit with the X-Men over a Gambit solo film, and Channing Tatum was already cast. We would have seen him as Gambit in a movie a long time ago. Channing Tatum was cast in a Kingsman movie with Halle Berry, when Apocalypse was happening and that movie was from Fox.

Next Gambit should be MCU Gambit in a X-men movie
If each character' must have his own solo movie we will be overdosed
Dont waste time

Channing Tatum should at least return in Secret Wars, because he is about to make a name for himself once again!

The issue is that the Avengers were all fully fleshed out characters first with their own "universe," villains, and supporting casts. The X-Men mostly have a basic origin and not much else aside from their association with the X-Men so everything else would basically have to be made up from scratch.

I wouldn’t mind seeing him in a Marvel Special like they did Guardians

Marvel Special Presentation costs money and time. They would have to allocate time and resources for the VFX (which probably takes longer than filming), that could be just given on their Mcu movies.

Also, I think compare to a streaming series, I'm not sure if they attract more subscribers and hits. Probably why we only got two so far and nothing new is scheduled for this year and next year.

I feel like if they dig enough in the comics, they could find supporting characters and villains that aren't really "X-Men" supporting characters/villains - characters that would only relate to certain mutants. But I don't think a solo movie for Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Psylocke, Gambit, Rogue, Iceman, Colossus, Angel, etc.. would be that interesting enough especially with the general public, to the point that its not really going to do well at the box office and for the film studio. Most people would just wait for the next X-Men team movie. I am a big X-Men fan and but I don't find the solo X-Men comics interesting.
