I don't like the accent and the fitting of the costume could have been better. But for some reason, it was just so rewarding to see Gambit finally in a movie since 2009... and I even liked Gambit in that movie as well. His action scene in the third act was just so good, it looked like Channing was playing the character for the fifth movie, as he really pulled off Gambit's moves.

No matter your view on Tatum as Gambit he made it memorable and the meme's will be strong with him for sometime after this almost scene stealing turn.

God, his costume looks perfect. Between Deadpool, Wolverine and Gambit, these movies have the best suits in the genre.

Glad, Chan got to fulfill his dream. You could tell he had a blast doing it.

Channing was so fun to watch. Love that he's become a meme, before the movie even got to streaming/Home video, no less.

Gambit's been having a really good year.

Negasonics yellow Xmen suits were also on point.

He was far more enjoyable than the last Gambit from Origins.

That isn't accurate to the original Negasonic Teenage Warhead that appeared in Whedon's Astonishing X-Men.

The Deadpool 2016 costume was an original creation and it was after the movie, the comics adapted the new look for the character.
They must be good then if they changed the comics to be the same as the movie's, thats some strong influence.

That version was the introduction of the character for me, which imo, looked more striking and the character actually looked like a mutant.

The movie version, needed an approval from Marvel first. The writers only selected NTW because of the long name and wanted it as a joke in the movie, not because of the actual potential of the character. And when the movie became successful, Marvel Comics incorporated that version into the comics.

But Negasonic Teenage Warhead was anything but faithful.

Oh yes its very different to the comic version, in fact nothing like it, which is why they used her in the first place as they knew nobody would care much.

But the costumes themselves as X-Suits are far better than what other Fox-verse X-Men attempts have been like on the whole, that was more the point, not NTW herself specifically,

He was great as Gambit! I've posted this a few times, but I will post it here too; his accent isn't horrible, from everyone that I've seen that actually live in Lousiana (in the Bayou area) say his accent was good/great. I'm pretty sure he lived in Lafayette growing up too. So many youtubers who reviewed this movie kept saying it's horrible, but I'm guessing most of them never met a cajun lol. Yeah, he probably played it up a bit more for comedy, but if he needed to be more serious in a scene, I'm sure he could.

The action of Gambit was phenomenal! The costume is so comic accurate! It's wild to see people complain about the costume. If you want the leather/jackets, X-Men Origins has that Gambit in it.

I hope we get to see more of Tatum as Gambit before the inevitable reboot.

Kitsch has taken his lumps over the years but honestly, he wasn’t even in the top 10 things that were wrong with Origins.

Tatum was definitely on another level, though.

The "origin" movies are just another example of how FOX just didn't understand X-Men.

For one thing, we never needed an "origin" film for Logan. Period. They should have done that Chris Claremont Japan story from the jump instead of waiting until 2013 to get to it.

Also, I get the actors for the OG movies were getting expensive, but the great thing about X-Men is there are so many characters that hadn't been introduced yet that could've been on a new X-Men team being played by less expensive actors locked into long term deals. The team in the comics has swapped out its lineup so many times. So if an actor is getting too expensive, retire them and replace them with a new character. X-Men as a team is endlessly reset-able.

You could also have more than one X-Men team/franchise. The comics have had multiple X-Men teams. So maybe Wolverine could lead one team, and Storm could lead another. Maybe if they weren't dumb enough to kill Cyclops off, he could've spun off into a team as its leader. If Star Trek could have multiple shows on at the same time, why couldn't X-Men have many different movie team franchises going on?

They should have aimed for X-Men 4, 5 and 6, post X3. And if the cast was getting bigger, and more expensive. They could have split the team and some taking a break in X-Men 4. Well they already killed Cyclops and Jean, so there were down two original cast members anyway. While Rebecca Romijn, Aaron Stanford and Ian McKellen didn't need to return for X-Men 4 as there are plenty of other villains in the X-Men mythos.

But I also think Fox and company were fixated with the Wolverine. I remember Lauren Shuler Donner saying they can't do the Wolverine Japan movie without doing an origin movie first. So they were clearly aiming for several Wolverine movies, and a bunch of spin off movies which imo, weren't as appealing as X-Men 4.

Then when we got the original trilogy cast back after 8 years, it was temporary - because for some reason they wanted to tell new X-Men stories set in the past... I mean X-Men 2016 and 2019 with the OT cast could have been as bad as Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix but still those movies would have sold better. The overall direction for the franchise was just so misguided.

They had already basically done Logan's past. X2 was all about it, Weapon X, and his relationship with Stryker. Except for an expanded relationship between Logan and Sabretooth, Origins added basically nothing of significance to what we already knew.
