Chaos War

I really liked Chaos War but seriously they brought back Alpha Flight and Yellowjacket but no Vision and Captain Marvel? WTF!

They and most of the reborn Avengers got killed by Grim Reaper before being taken down.

Sweeeeeeeet. This isn't even the first time Herc's been depowered (he lost a bunch of his strength during Harras's run on "Avengers" in the 90s). The dude's just fun to read, and Pak and Van Lente have a total handle on him.

The cover of the first issue shows him wrestling some dinosaur. A depowered Herc is prob only strong enough to fight some bank robbers though right?

Well, last time he got depowered, he was still pretty strong. I imagine it'll be something like that. He's not going to be smashing missiles or anything like that anymore, but I could see it being more of a Luke Cage level of strength.

And Herc restored literally everything to the way it was. Couldn't have spared a thought for his buddies as well as the Canadians? :argh:

Anyway, Herc sounds awesome. Pak and Van Lente are coming back for the ongoing, which is basically all it needed to guarantee my money. Not a huge fan of Edwards' art, but his sketches look okay. The premise sounds especially intriguing.

As for the power issue, I thought it meant Herc lost his godhood. He was never 100% human; he always had his demigod super-strength. So I imagine he'd go back to that level again. Then again, even demigod Herc probably wouldn't have been hurt by a high-five from Cho, so who knows? Maybe they've stripped him of every last bit of divinity, leaving him a true human for the first time. That could be cool.

So
Swordsman, Yellowjacket and "Lifecry" are back to being dead?
:csad:

Looks like Alpha Flight, at the very least. I thought Yellowjacket survived too.

Cannot wait for the Alpha Flight/Collective reunion. The way he killed them(off-panel mind you) was absurd.

I liked Chaos War, and I love Van Lente's work (Met the guy/interviewed the guy. One of the nicest, approachable men in the industry).

I just feel like...I read so much that it got lost. It felt like a minor event that nobody in the M.U. either noticed or knew was happening. It literally had hardly any knock-on in other books.

Yeah, as much as people b**** about tie-ins in other comics, I would've liked a few more for this event. Separate minis just make it feel like the event is off in its own world.

Yellowjacket I don't care about but Alpha Flight's cool. Which members (might have) returned?

Also, I'm only debating buying the issue to tie up the Incredible Hulks tie-in. How much pro prevelant are they in it?

Alpha Flight all came back, aside for Puck apparently. Both Vindicators, Shaman, and Marrina. Snowbird and Sasquatch never died. The Rita DeMara Yellowjacket as well as the original Swordsman are apparently back.

I liked the ending to CW. I thought it was over the top enough and satisfied me. That's rare for many event stories that aren't space epics.

This new direction for Herc is interesting. But the creative team on the character could probably make him a talking poodle and I'd buy it.

Hey, I actually wanted Deathcry to come back. :p

The Vision should've come back. I mean, really, Yellowjacket and Swordsman? Who even gave a f*** that they were dead? :cmad:

I liked Swordsman back when he was the alternate version that was a part of Proctor's Gatherers. The original Swordsman? Yeah I don't care about that guy. And I didn't know Yellowjacket was even a character until people started talking about her during Chaos War.

Puck just became Lord of Hell in the recent issue of Wolverine. He got his hands on the Devil's soul-sword and was last seen saying to a bunch of demons, "That's right you sacks of crap, bow to the new big cheese! Now let's talk about how I get outta here!":awesome:

And I'm with you guys, I want the old Vision back!!!!

I love that arc, but I was indifferent to that Swordsman, too. Magdalena seemed to be the more interesting character of that duo to me.

For some reason those 2 were always listed as being Avengers but they never really served in an official capacity.
