Avi Arad once confirmed this, saying that Thomas Jane actually is the man seen over Mary jane's shoulder, when she heads from her botched wedding to Peter's apartment. Apparently, the "Punisher" star was on location that day, and asked if he could be an extra for one scene. Arad later joked that it helps tie the "Marvel film universe" together a little more.

Oh, and speaking of Robert Patrick, I'm surprised no one's mentioned his blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo, as the T-1000 in "Last Action Hero"...
