Oh yeah, some of the stars of today would probably much better off if Eddie Mannix was still around, lol.For sure. Thing is, back in the day the studios themselves were heavily involved with managing the stars public personas. That meant not only building them up with glowing PR but also handling things that could get them into trouble given the times. Obviously the bigger the star the more likely you were to have things swept under the rug, from the more mundane foibles to the down right scary habits and everything in between. Now a days the stars themselves are in charge of their PR in many ways. If there had been facebook and twitter back in the day I am betting some Hollywood royalty from then would be looked at in a different light.
