Well, most rational thought does tend to sound like someone rationalizing, yes. Would you prefer a purely emotional reaction?

An emotional response would be more human instead of saying "aww, shucks, I'm proud of her". And it has nothing to do with "ownership". It does have to with "self respect" and loyalty.

I mean cool you and your chick are in an open relationship, I won't begrudge people who swing, but you don't even take into account she can be more diseased than the monkey from Outbreak? How doesn't that affect you? How does that support her, " She's not a slave to what's suppose to happen in a relationship".

I just see it as a betrayal of trust. If you are going to cheat, break up with the person first.

However, even in open relationship, someone gets hurt somewhere down the road. I'm wondering if your girl, would actually get pissed if you went out and banged someone.

for all the people who say cheating is the worst, stupidest, degrading, vile thing ever, etc. i think its kind of harsh to judge a person like that. i've never cheated, but everyone has a breaking point. some people are ridiculously stupid about it, by planning it or even just getting drunk. but the power of seduction cannot be ignored, and sometimes it's the cause of cheating, and like i said everyone has their breaking point when it comes to that. Pains must be made to make sure you never can get into a situation where you could be seduced, like say making the decision to never be in a room with a woman other than your wife/gf alone. I'm just saying that all the people saying they would never cheat just probably havent been in the right situations then, which is a good thing.

Uhhh, no. If you're in a committed relationship, even seduction isn't enough to pull you off your fidelity, no matter how tempting. I've had several occasions where temptation through seduction presented itself while I was in a committed relationship and never once have I taken the bait. I've always been strong enough to stick to my principles and commitment to not violate the trust that was shared with my girlfriend at the time. Now that I'm married, I get more instances of seduction attempts than I did when I was single (what is it about a wedding band that attracts women intent on jumping your bones?) and I've never even been tempted once. Why eat hamburgers when you've got filet mignon at home?
