Chicken Run sequel announced by Netflix

I saw the original when I was little and I thought they already made a sequel and I just hadn’t seen it yet.

One of my favorite Aardman films (portuguese dub at least). Interested to see what they'll do with this.

Doesn’t necessarily need to have Gibson’s character again

I thought Gibson has already been “forgiven” for his anti-semitism rant circa 2006? Wasn’t he nominated for Best Director just four years ago?

...that has to be the flimsiest reason to re-cast anyone in a voice-acting role.

It's called voice-acting for a reason. Nancy Cartwright has been voicing a ten-year-old boy for over twenty years and it definitely isn't an issue there.

I’m quite shocked and saddened by this!

I just watched the voice comparison from the film and now, and she still sounds great! Barely even noticed a difference.

Sad but as they say... that’s showbiz. Happens all the time for even stupider reasons.

Shouldn't everyone be recast then since they'll all sound older than they were in the original?

Without the two lead cast members from the original, this sounds like it could end up like the cheap Disney or Land Before Time DTV sequels from the late '90s/early '00s. I actually was surprised to learn that Chicken Run is the highest grossing stop motion animation film of all time. I saw it in theaters when it originally came out and enjoyed it enough but I honestly haven't really thought about it in 20 years. It's surprising that it took this long to get a sequel off the ground if it was that big of a hit for Aardman.

I've been a fan of hers for about 25 years and this is first class bull ****. She literally sounds the same.
