Chiklis Talks

Ehn...:o

IMO, the perfect way to bring out Susan's compassion is to refocus her energies on her family--especially Johnny (the first film showcased very little sisterly love there for him or vise versa--all that was written was arguments and catfights). If the writers are savvy enough, they'll find that there are ample opportunities for her to show more compassion to her brother and be a true protective Lioness in regards to him. And then of course, she has the love of her life, Reed.

That's why I'm annoyed at the notion that she's also involved with the Surfer. As if she's not already in the smack-dab center of all the other plotlines. To me, this is little more than a retread of the 2005 movie--with her 3-way with Doom and Reed. It reeks of Hollywoodism and it's unneccesary. There is enough untapped potential for Sue to channel her focus on without also having to get in the mix with Norrin.

Let someone else--preferably someone who has been seriously underused--have a chance to shine. Like um...Alicia...:oldrazz:

I completely agree.

Sure, the FF is about family...but that quickly grew to include "extended family" as well.

Alicia, Willie Lumpkin, Crystal, Wyatt Wingfoot, Agatha Harkness, etc.,

It's a shame to introduce Alicia in the movies, then to not only hardly use her, but give her defining moment away to another character, imo.

 :csad:

They're already combining two different FF tales in this thing, and seeing as the events apparently play out over the globe, I can see where it would be hard to keep Alicia in the mix.
I don't like it, but it's something I can get past.

It doesn't bother me nearly as much as the liberties they took with the Pheonix story in X-Men 3, but it bothers me.

^^

Yeah this is puzzling as to why have such a talented actor and then waste her.

Fox must just be shooting for maximum alba exposure. Money people money.

I agree.... here you have an Academy Award calibre actress like Kerry and she just was wasted. Sue has plenty enough going on... big wedding scene... newlywed adjustments to make along with dealing with their relatively newfound celebrity plus learning the potential of her powers as she did through the years.

The whole point of having the Surfer encounter Alicia was the contrast between this alien being of unfathomable powers who encounters a mere mortal female...without powers. She was practically defenseless and yet she found the courage to confront the Surfer about his blind obedience to the will of Galactus. Her courage, from seemingly the least powerful character in the story, was the Surfer's inspiration to defy Galactus

I agree....Sue's compassion SHOULD be directed toward her family.....there was ample chance to do that in the first.....didn't see it....so forgive me if I'm alittle skeptical that that will be seen in the sequel....

Why did you have to put it so eloquently, Iron Maiden? :csad:

If they have transferred Alicia's pivotal scenes with the Surfer
to Sue Richards then so be it. At least we longtime fans
will always have the original.

It reminds me of a report I once read about an interview that
Ernest Hemingway gave decades ago. The reporter asked the
author if Hollywood's shabby treatment of his great works had
tarnished them. Hemingway gestured to a shelf in his study
that held his personal library of all his editions and said,
"No, they're all just fine. See?"

So with that in mind:

^^^ Too true Malus we will always have the original manuscripts of the masters themselves.

Such was the greatness of Lee, Kirby & Sinnot etched in parchment we can never forget that epic story of a world in peril.

Thanks for posting that Malus...I just hope they give Alicia's character something do to in the movie. But somehow I doubt it will be as consequential as that.

Which brings us to another point, they are quite a few good actors in this series, Andre Braugher for one is an accompished actor. Fox has a habit of getting these very good actors but because of the screen time that they demand the editors cut the scenes with the second tier actors all the time.

This is what is sad about the business that a lot of good performances are being wasted. The same thing happened to trask in X3.

True. But personally, i think Kerry is WAY hotter.

Very true Mal. And yes, i'll be bothered if/when Alba gets all the juicy parts with The Surfer, but it wont completely spoil the movie for me.

I mean, hey; if it's good enough for Hemmingway, it's good enough for Captain Stacy. :yay:

Lets wait and see how it all falls out. We will get more looks into how it will be done as commericals, and other picies are revieled. I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bath water. What I have seen, I love. So for now I will go with that, till I see more. :word:
