There are a few twists, not just one, couple of big ones at the end though, at least in the book.

If its a disappointment, I'm sure the performances will be great at least. With Tom Rob Smith really liking the film though I'm optimistic about it, here is a recent tweet he made right after the trailer debuted.

Also, that negative early test screening reaction was just from one guy back in early June, the movie was apparently completed 6 months later at the end of November.
