If someone wants a family great, but don't start popping them out to fill some other gap in your life. You have couples that fight all the time and think having a kid will bring them together, then they fight in front of the kid.

It may grow up to share half of my genes, and if it were my gender, chances are it would be most influenced by my own personality traits.

You want to bring a new soul into existence because you'll be able to recognize yourself in another.

You don't find that the least bit narcissistic or shallow. You "love" the kid and are committed to them because they have your traits and carry your recognizable DNA.

What other reasons do they deserve your time, energy, and unconditional love more than an unfortunate child already in existence with no friends/family in the world.

Japan has a rapidly declining birth rate which threatens the future of the economy. They need all the Japanese babies they can get.

Your better off trying to get a Chinese babies. They can't get rid of them fast enough.

to be honest, the chances would probably be smaller. Let's say you adopt a 4 or 5 year old who was abandoned at birth and has been moved from foster home to foster home. If he ends up with a loving parent/s , I'm sure he would do most anything in his capabilities to make sure those parents knew how much he loved them for giving him a home
