Chris Benoit Biopic

No no I wasn't being sarcastic at all. I was just asking if the moves could cause a lot of damge if done incorrectly. You posted that you use to be a pro wrestler so I was just curious. I didn't mean for it to sound like I was being sarcastic or a *****ebag.

Some moves, like the piledriver and the DDT, when done incorrectly can cause serious harm.

Some moves, like the hammer lock and the figure four, if done by actually applying pressure, can break a man's arm or leg.

Some moves, like The Crippler Crossface and the cross arm breaker, are just for show and can't actually cause any harm, no matter how they're applied.

I hope that clears things up.

I remember seeing a long time ago, someone suggesting Owen Wilson as Owen Hart.

That was me, and I stand by that casting choice. Here's why . . .

1) Owen Wilson bears a striking physical resemblance to Owen Hart. Just look at pictures of them side by side if you don't believe me.

2) Owen Wilson, while not the caliber of athlete Owen Hart was, is still very athletic. Given about a year training with Brett Hart in the Hart Family Dungeon, he could do a credible job impersonating Owen in the ring.

3) Owen Wilson is an excellent comedic actor. And since Owen Hart was always pulling ribs on the other wrestlers, or acting silly to cheer up a friend if they were feeling blue, then you need someone with good comedic timing to play that part of his personality. Again, Owen Wilson fits the bill perfectly.

But can Wilson do the voice?

Owen Hart's voice isn't essential to the character. The Iron Shiek? Nikolai Volkoff? Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid? Deffinitely. But Owen Hart? Not so much. So whether Owen Wilson can mimic The King Of Harts' voice or not is a moot issue.

Haha she blocked me on Twitter for some reason, don`t think I ever said anything offensive to her. Maybe retweeted something that insulted one of her movies.

Im sure a movie wouldnt glorify him but I still don't feel like this is a good movie to make.

She's basically Lady Devin Faraci at this point.

I really don't have a good feeling about this, and I kind of wish this wasn't getting made.

So how does this movie get made when they can't use WWE trademarks?

They'd probably change it to something else or have that stuff happen off-screen.

If they change it:

WWF/WWE = WOW (World of Wrestling)
WCW= WWC (World Wrestling Championship)
Vince McMahon= Victor McMichael

They can't use the wrestling terminologies. But I think everything else is fair game.

Could the movie have some damaging affects to the WWE?

Could do if they portray how the business affected him with all the drugs and repeated collisions to the head. And how wresting and spending time away nearly year in year out affected him.

the movie as a whole feels uncomfortable given what happened
but i guess the same could be said about most movies based on true events

curious to see who gets cast as benoit

I'm thinking it'll be low budget and more like Foxcatcher than a big blockbuster movie, so the uncomfortable nature of the story could fit well.

Regardless, I'm sticking with an "uglied up" Tom Hardy as Benoit. Can't decide who I would put as Nancy/Woman and Kevin Sullivan.

hasn't hurt football

when Michael C Hall was younger, he looked kind of Benoit-ish.

hasn't hurt football

I know Vince has some balls on him but he ain't the NFL.

I'm not saying it will affect the wrestling industry but it will put a doubts into people's head.

The Wrestler already did that to a degree. This would just be more so because it's a real guy and the story ends far more tragically.

As for the terminology, they could also maybe get away with using terms similar to what the old NWA territories used to. For instance "Philly" means ECW, "Atlanta" or "the South" means WCW, and so on and so forth.
