that's why i don't think i can do audio books, my mind would drift constantly.

what series did you start?
Wheel of Time.

I do whispersync Immersive reading which combines ebooks (through kindle) and audiobooks (through audible). So whenever I’m taking a walk in the park or walking to and from work I can read and listen to the book at the same time. It highlights the part of the text that is being read automatically and turns the page for you. I love being able to read every word and seeing spellings of any character/place names etc while also getting the narrator’s performance. I feel like I’ve taken a lot more away from books since I started doing that.

He was an absolute champion and it was disappointing. He was genuinely one of those actors whom made every film he appeared in worth watching. Even in something like From Hell his performance as Sir William Gull was utterly terrifying.

So yeah, it was a shame. They don’t really make actors like him anymore.

Agreed.

Damn fine actor.

If I may, my suggestion for two lesser known films of his (At least to the Millenials and Zoomers) would be GREYSTOKE and THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE.

...I don't fully understand what I was supposed to make here, but I interpreted it as "make Reek's house", so... this, I guess:

I want one. :)

Oh, a bit different then lol, as it’s not as important when you miss things in a book you know. When I’m reading something for the first time it almost counts as reading it 3 times as every time my mind wanders I reread the page. Really hate missing anything but unfortunately it makes me slow in getting through them. Just started a 13 book series so I wonder how long that will take me. :D
13 books? That's ambitious, lol. :p

Ah thanks. I haven’t seen (or heard much about) Greystoke.

For me, yes. For you that’s 2 weeks work. :cwink:

Edit: Wheel of Time
Lol, I get about 15-17 books in a month depending on how many shows I'm watching. :)

One of my ambitions was to read every fantasy novel ever (as well as every comic ever). I’m gonna need retirement and life-expectancy boosting measures to have any shot of that lol.

Just took a peek at the first book. It's over 700 pages. That'll take you some time, lol. I've lost my taste for fantasy unless it's urban fantasy like Clive Barker or Stephen King which mostly have one foot still in the real world. I was only able to get through Game of Thrones because the show helped me along.

Yeah, I’m about 75% through it. I’m into full on fantasy for full on escapism. Any links to the real world are a drag for me. :cwink:

It is basically Batman Begins for Tarzan only 30 years before Nolan even picked up a Super 8.

Grounded, gritty goodness.

Just got off with the cops. Got to the job, relieved the guy here. Carlos just bought a brand new truck.

He goes downstairs to change. I'm cleaning the desk (Covid protocols) when suddenly maybe a dozen teens come riding in on bikes and it sounds like Iwo Jima outside.

The young fools are setting off and throwing fireworks everywhere. Roman candles fired at buildings at cars. Carlos comes up and I tell him not to go out, but... That new truck. He runs, gets in and takes off.

The teens stick around and start with a new volley.

Called the police.

Look... I honestly wouldn't care if they were just setting fireworks off. But they were aiming at cars, at the buildings, buses, even at each other. I really don't want to have to deal with a building fire on top of everything elese.

I was talking to the super just Friday and said I think we should keep the windows boarded up for as long as the tenants let us. For sure if we didn't have them some of those shots might have broken the glass of the front doors and main window.

Reek's house...

In the middle of the street...

Reek's house...

Thanks.

I don't understand how I managed to miss this. Part of my childhood experience malfunctioned.

It was not exactly a blockbuster. I think I would say it is a bit of a cult film.

Yeah, just seems like the kind of cult film I would have seen and been telling other people about.

thats not just my house.... thats a secret meeting room for an organization youve never heard of.

And yet I know the secret handshake.

Wanna know how?

Check out the plaque in the back of the room. Look at the photo that says, "Founders Day, 1886".

That's right... That good looking mother****a with the sticks and the hat?

Yup.

Yeah, I definitely recommend it above ebooks or audiobooks alone. Especially when a book has a good narrator performance. Also if interested there are often great discounts when trying to buy the ebook and audiobook together. For birthdays this is the main present I get from family now which is enough for tonnes of books.
