Salt ain't gonna make that much. It looks boring and it's basically Jason Bourne with a vagina. I predict around The Sorcerer's Apprentice numbers.

I need to see Inception AGAIN goddammit.
 
Nolan...as gifted as he is with the pen...personally I would just like to see him take the next step in style and flare with the camera in regards to angles and what have you...

...I don't know if it's all the recent Tarantino movies I've been watching, but for Quentin, his camera work does seem to add to his films...and I've only recently noticed that Chris Nolan seems to be very direct...it's not a big problem and he'll just probably stick to his guns, but it'd be cool if he experimented more...

He did experiment with some cool camera angles in TDK.

But for Inception it seems he reverted back to a more direct approach. I don't know why.
 
I wonder how 14-15yr olds percieved this film? I wonder if they found it confusing, especially if they went with their friends.

Pfister said that they wanted to keep Inception more handheld and spontaneous, so whatever you see is not that staged, they're just going. Kind of like in The Prestige.

The camera movements weren't as inspired as TDK, I thought. During the prologue, you could FEEL the entire scene due to the camera work. Or maybe I was trying to keep up with the dialogue in Inception and thus couldn't keep up with what they were doing with the camera. :funny:

This is normally a film, that I'd say should be rated R, but in this case, Inception is one of the few exceptions where it works as a PG-13 film. Momento would not work as a PG-13 movie, you would have to compromise too much.
There was also a ton of F-bombs in Memento. :funny: Following too.

I actually didn't feel Inception was that violent. Someone on the figure skating forum did, but I pointed out that in that case, TDK should have been rated R for Two-Face alone, and the general tension around Joker. The tension in Inception wasn't as palpable as the tension you felt when Joker was on screen.

I'd fit the bill sir, but since I am more of a movie-guy and if my opinion means anything, I thought it was absolutely beautiful and really loved it...I am 15 and I did go with friends...my more "sophisticated" friends that are much more film-savvy like me, I may add...and I do believe I've contributed enough in discussion to display what I got out of the film and that I do have an attention span of more than 2 1/2 hours...:oldrazz:

...But I do know people for sure...my age...that would be lost like 15 mins in and wouldn't get **** outta of it...:hehe:

I really liked this article. Its an examination on why Inceptions realative logic works on its own terms, why films have to have some kind of consistant logic to work ( even if it doesn't fit with the logic of the world we live in) how inception relates to the surrealism movement, and also basically why Armond White is a tool. lol. a lot of bases covered.

word, thats good to know. I remember being your age and having a few movie buddies who would know when to shut up when the lights turned out. Unfortunately, my list of people to go to the movies with are slimming pretty thing. Even at the age of 21 some of my friends still pull out their phones and talk. I get so pissed.
 
Inception $9,765,137 Tuesday. Fantastic drop. Just 4.1%.

It actually has a higher Cinemascore among younger folks than older ones. So I think it's actually the older audience (over 40?) that has a hard time keeping up.

I'm not surprised, really. The Matrix demographic pertains to Inception too. We like our existential action movies. :funny: Plus we're used to multi-tasking so the intercutting multiple dream levels isn't as much of a mental workout.

Im trying to understand the end "hiest" but I have one question, maybe someone can help me out. Tom beringer's character the god father to cillian murphy, in the inception dream was he really there or just a sub concious perception by murphy? I know hardy pretended to be him at times during the hiest but the hotel room bit I wasnt sure.

on a side note:

I thought it was a stroke of genius to use cillian muprhy to plant an idea in his own head in the climax

No, you thought right. The camera work isn't half as good as TDK's. I was sorely dissapointed in that regard.

Why the **** isn't Cillian Murphy in more movies? He was the standout in one of the best ensembles in recent memory. Incredible actor.

No it wasn't really violent. The idea that you die you wake up, or worst go to limbo. TDK was much more violent, but only because it's shoking to see the kind of destruction after we watched the twin towers in real life being blown up. It strikes a nerve. WB never would have let it be an R film though.

Like I say, normally when I think of these cerebral sci-fi films, they were almost always rated R. Dark City, Matrix, Blade Runner. Minority Report probably being one of the lone exceptions.

This film works as PG-13, because it's not about the action, it's about the characters and their interaction. There's no real need for sex scenes, as the only love interest is the wife, and she's dead.

Last night the theater was pretty packed. This should get very good wom. I'm not sure about how it's going to do overseas though, seems kinda low right now.

It's not fully released yet. If I'm not mistaken it's not coming out in a lot of places internationally until August/September.
 
If you're a fan of Cillian Murphy's acting chops and haven't seen Peacock...run to your Netflix account and add it immediately! He deserves an Oscar nomination for that role...and if there is any justice in Hollywood, he will get it.

Spoiler: There is no justice in Hollywood.
