I love it!!!

From Boxofficemojo on Thursday's earnings. $8,560,000. Wednesday's earnings were $8,859,322. It barely dropped from Wednesday.

WW it's at 116,655,000.

It's second weekend starting today will give a good idea of just how well this can keep going.

Watch Franco in Milk, he has the versatility to go past the stoner stereotype.

Franco and JGL are both talented, and imo, far more talented than what this role asks for. This goes for pretty much every role in the movie, except maybe Cobb and Mal. But I totally understand why Nolan cast this bunch. In spite of limited character development, the sheer talent combined added gravitas to these roles that ultimately made them authentic to the audiences. Lesser actors would have revealed the true nature of these parts, faceless character tropes of the heist genre.

I wasn't meaning he only plays a stoner type in all his films. I meant in the past films ive seen him in he sort of played the same character in a way. The Pineapple Express was a compliment if anything, I was saying that that role was different than his usual performances in a good way.

On pace for a $38-40M+ weekend. :yay:

I'm seeing it tonight for the third(and final)time. Bringing my sister again since she fell asleep during the movie last Sunday. Wasn't her fault, roommates were drunk and loud and kept her up 'til 3 in the morning. She was pissed she fell asleep.

Hahaha, she asked me if she missed a lot and I just laughed. She fell asleep during the interrogation of Fischer in the warehouse and woke up right at the end of the zero gravity fight when the rest of the team is in Eame's dream.:hehe:

See I'm afraid of seeing it again because I have tendency of overwatching certain flicks that really appeal to me (TDK, LOTR) to a point where I kind of get tired of watching them because I know exactly where and when each scene takes place. Sorta takes away some of the fun. I've seen it twice and I get the overall gist of it. Im gonna wait till it comes out on Blu Ray so when I watch it in a home theater it'll feel fresh....and HD!

I can't get a reading on Salt, but there's really no competition until the Expendables comes out. However, I think Charlie St. Cloud could be a suprise hit. It was a great book, and I think it's a good move for Efron to do a dramatic roll, and get behind all the high school musical fluff and sillyness.

Also I think Dinner For Schmuks could be big. There really hasn't been a breakout comedy this summer. I think it could be this years "Hangover".

I'm being conservative saying 36 for the weekend, but I think it's got a good shot at 40, but I think Salt needs to completely tank for that to happen.

Movie theaters are HD too!

Dinner for Schmucks also has recognizable names like Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. Also Zack G.

Plus Rudd + Carell + Zack G = Awesomeness

I think Inception will remain number one for this weekend.

I saw the movie and it was great. Just to clear up some of the debate in this thread I just want to state my opinion on the subject matter.

I was reading that some people were saying that you have to die to enter limbo that is not true it's only true to the situation the team is on. You get to limbo by pushing yourself to the limit and after losing yourself in a maze of dreams you start to forget about reality and enter dead space. Since the team is under heavy sedatives if they die they won't wake up and this is key to why Cobb, Ariadne, and Fischer are able to go to limbo. Because they can not wake up the body thinks it's dead and I don't know if you guys know this but when you die you release DMT, which is a hallucinogen and this is why they're able to keep pushing themselves to new levels of dreaming. DMT is also released when you dream.

This whole movie is about Shamanism and alter-states of consciousness.

I'm going to buy the soundtrack asap. 528491 was my favorite song in the movie, especially the last 20 second. :yay:

You only reach limbo via death if your body in the real world is under heavy sedation which wasn't used until they met Yusef. Cobb and Ariadne were in limbo because they went down to a 4th level of dreaming, the third is the last into someone's mind before you go so far(fourth)that it's dead space, ie; limbo. That's how Cobb and Mal got to limbo originally, they went past the 3rd level of the subconcious.

The way Cobb got replaced in limbo when he was already down there from going into the 4th level of subconcious with Ariadne, was that he died on the first level by drowning in the van. So it basically reset him in limbo, at first he was in the building with Mal telling her he would stay if she let Fischer go, next thing(after he drowns in the van)he awakens in limbo again but in the water.
I just came back from my second viewing and this is how I understand it. Although it's still rather unclear as to how Ariadne (the newbie) knew this, but...whatever. :funny:

Wait...

Cobb and Ariadne go to the fourth dream level (not limbo), to get Fischer? This makes more sense as people have been saying that Fischer was only unconscious. Then, when Cobb, drowns in level 1 in the van, that sends him to limbo with Saito? Then they shoot themselves to kick all the way back to the plane and reality.

That totally makes sense!
That's what I thought too after my first viewing too, but after my second viewing, I noticed they don't hook Fischer up to the machine. Only Cobb and Ariadne are, which proves
that they're going after Fischer who's in limbo because he died in level 3. The reason why all that lightning happens when Eames resuscitates Fischer is because limbo is completely shared so whatever any of the character experience, will happen in the dream.

Good stuff from Ebert about the film's word of mouth:

So true. :funny:

Dinner for Schmucks has practically everyone from The Daily Show aside from Jon Stewart. :funny:

I was browsing Twitter earlier and saw a Tweet from some random chick who said she needed to see it so she could talk to her co-workers. Guess they've been talking a lot about it or something and she feels like she's missing out. WOM, baby, WOM. :awesome:

I've seen a number of theories about Ariadne and Miles (Caine), the craziest and most interesting of which is...

...the idea that Ariadne is not only working for Miles to perform inception on Cobb, but she is Cobb's daughter and is trying to bring him back to reality while he's still stuck in the past (including the visual of her as a young child).

Another crazy theory is that
the last scene is Miles's dream.

Those are pretty nuts. :funny:

Seriously these you are hillarious :hehe::hehe::hehe:

- BTW I saw two other links in your post but they failed to load... Can you post them too? -

I'm at the AMC on 42nd St in NY right now, and it looks like everyone is seeing Inception. Looks like it's headed for another good weekend. (I'm seeing The Kids Are All Right, which is getting decently crowded as well).

I sure hope it wasn't all a dream. That, to me, makes all the emotional impact false. I choose to believe we cut away before it stopped spinning. :)

So, one thing I missed - why was Leo and his wife in limbo the first time anyway?

They wanted to see how far they could go into the dreamworld.
