It wasnt the way I thought the final season would go, but the writing seemed on the same level as the rest of the seasons. As for the lack of action, this season was more of a character piece and less about gratuitous action and brutality. Which in hindsight is what the show needed for its denouement.
I wouldn't say that this season was more of a character piece. It had less action, but it's not like they spent a lot of time developing their characters and giving them depth. But Banshee has never been a deep show either. It felt more like they had a smaller budget. It wasnt the way I thought the final season would go, but the writing seemed on the same level as the rest of the seasons. I agree that the writing was on par with the previous seasons, though they did drop the ball with the stories they chose to tell. The last episode was a good send off and seemed a cut above the rest of the season, but I think that has a lot to do with them wrapping up the serial killer nonsense in the second to last episode.
I think if they'd have dropped the serial killer plot and had less of a broody Hood, the final season would have been much better.
Yeah, the cult storyline was a mistake. What was the point of it?
I just realized she also played Arnie's daughter in True Lies.My favourite part of the final was when the FBI lady delivered her "the butler did it" line.
I was going to say, Eliza Dushku played his daughter in that and that wasn't her in Banshee. Only it was. How the hell did I miss that? I remember her from that, and Buffy, and a handful of other series but something about her role in this series kept me from recognizing her face.
I knew Antony Starr was the lead in this (weird seeing him as a tough guy as his roles on New Zealand television have been anything but - still he's fantastic in Banshee).
I don't know, Jethro wasn't really a pushover. Not on the level of toughness as Hood, but in the realm of the Outrageous Fortune universe Jethro was harder than the average fellow.
First, great pic - I've just picked the first season of Justified, it's amazing. Gonna check out season 2 as soon as I can ! (not as brutal as Banshee, but dark, funny and a little bit twisted).
As for Jethro, he was cunning and pretty ruthless but nowhere on the same level as Hood, no one in OF was even close (including Wolf) - Hood has to be one of the biggest badasses in recent TV history. Best of all, he takes a beating in all of his fights, rather than just walk over everyone or look like a ninja, but every-time he comes back and grinds out a brutal victory. What a show - can't wait to catch the final season.
